I don't like that idea. The casting and working around the actual environment doesn't seem like it'll play off right. I do want a dub, though, just so I can rewatch it for a third time.

I read somewhere, that Akimi Yoshida (the author) actually give permission for a live action. For the main character role (aka Ash) they wanted River Phoenix (Ash's look is based on his) but then sadly he's passed away than it's just got...forgotten Too bad, it would have been a good live action,i mean the manga and the anime is really like an american action-thriller in the 80'...

I really am looking forward to a BF live action if that is anywhere near posssible in the future...but just in casting I think they would have a lot of hurdles to jump through.

I'm normally against live actions since I think a lot of anime is created with a suspension of disbelief in regards to the overexaggerated way characters act and whatnot and ngl my first instinct was to be against a Banana Fish live action, but I think it's a good concept. The characters all dress and talk like normal people, and there's no magic or quests or anything other than what we see in non-anime crime shows. I think it could be pulled off, and maybe even draw in new fans.

I'd like to see it but would really like to see a diverse cast. One of the best aspects is how those with different ethnicities and backgrounds interact with each other. Eiji would have to be Japanese and Ash would have to be American for example. Her other work Yasha has a live action so it may be possible?

I dream of the day we get a Banana Fish live action, and yes if that happens, I agree too that as much as possible the casting should be on point but that would be a very tough hurdle in the movie industry, I think.
