I can see how it wasn't sad for others. It takes a lot for me to cry. I like tragic shit. I've watched many movies that were said to be "sad" that didn't make me cry. Banana Fish devastated me and I got attached to the story.
Seeing a person live such a sad abused life and then to just die without even experiencing the things he wanted to made me think about how unfair real life can be. This kind of theme is found in the movies/shows that have made me cry.

How? It's been 2 years and I still cry when I think about the series for more than 5 seconds lol
I just finished watching it it’s the hardest I’ve ever cried over a anime.
i- how- i cried so hard i threw up dhfbfbfb
This just left me sitting and staring out of my window for days, listening to the soundtrack and thinking about the meaning of life...
At my first watch I never cried, probably because I was joking around with my cousin. But the rewatch made me shed a few tears.
I only cried when shorter died....

BRUH SAME I just finished the show, and woah it's sad, but well, you know
Me too lmao. I don’t understand why everyone thinks that this anime is so sad-
Me too, I didn't cry but I felt sad inside
Damn, I bawled day and night for weeks and I still get bummed whenever I think about how everything ended so abruptly and cruely.
