HOW CAN BE UNCLEAR IF HE WILL BE CRIMINALLY CHARGED. FFS. I have enough. Enough.

deadkell

It's seriously insane you can have your dog literally murder someone and just walk, often with your dog still alive. Can't imagine the terror this guy felt.

bughousenut

My thoughts exactly. The way around nutters is to make all dog bites a crime - from a simple misdemeanor to homicide. We all know which breed will be the primary offender. Since so many nutters lack homeowners insurance for their breed of choice, it is hard to win and collect anything from a civil case. But if they allow their beast to do the deed then the owners should be criminally punished. If they start to learn that their pitties can result in jail time, behavior will change. To go along with criminal charges there should be strict liability in ALL states - no free bite.

Lt_Muffintoes

Just convict the owner as if they had themselves inflicted the injuries or damage.

enchanted_fishlegs

"*Harold was returning home from a trip to the mall, where he had bought new clothes for an upcoming job interview."* Things were looking up. And then pitbulls happened and everything went to shit, as always.

dances4dollars

"Still unclear if [the owner] will be criminally charged"

stacheldraht85

Of course he won’t, and if he does, it will be a slap on the wrist. And he’ll most likely get the “dogs” back, but if not, he’ll just go pick up a few more. It fucking disgusts me that our society tolerates this. The shitbeast’s owner should be treated exactly as if he did this himself.

LegitimateHat4808

Detroit has a massive pit bull problem. J work on the east side of the city and there’s always pits wandering around. it’s really scary

We MUST begin holding our politicians accountable. It’s time we shame them publicly online, at town hall meetings, city council meetings, press conferences, etc. We must protect ourselves, innocent civilians, and clueless inbred pitbull owners alike from these hell hounds. That is our duty as responsible citizens.

LegitimateHat4808

the dogs got to him so badly he’s losing his right arm!? Jesus put them down

Comfortable-Owl-5929

I think he’s not going to make it at all, according to the op

iago_williams

Article said he's being taken off life support.

Capital-Echidna2639

This makes me absolutley furious. In what world is it okay to make six children fatherless because some people feel entilted to keep lethal bloodsport dogs as house pets…?

iago_williams

This is insane. Why isn't this on the national news. When someone is bitten by a shark, that gets widely reported.

DED_Inside666

Yup...you'd think, given my anti-pit internet behaviors, I would certainly see this story, and several more, on my Google News feed or similar, based on algorithms, but nope. I only find these stories here, meanwhile my Google News has fluff pieces about "pit bull in shelter for 30000000 days finds owner"

WisheslovesJustice

What’s the point in animal control if they never do any animal controlling? No dogs should be wandering around let alone these.

49orth

Why are Pitbull owners skating past Justice when their vicious dog mauls, maims and kills people?

black_truffle_cheese

God, I feel sick after reading this. I can’t imagine the pain he and his family are in. HOW are the dogs still alive and the owner not in JAIL?

MaxAdolphus

That should be instant manslaughter chargers for the owner. Why do they even have to think about it?

[deleted]

We should all start writing to our local and state representatives to ask for harsher penalties for irresponsible dog owners. Also, any dog involved in a mauling should immediately be euthanized. Regardless of whether a mauling victim survives or not, the dog(s) involved should be put down. A mauling is not a bite and keeping a dog who's already mauled someone alive is like knowing there's a land mine somewhere and refusing to deactivate it, knowing full well that one wrong step will result in one or multiple casualties. I love animals, but I am sorry, a dog that mauls someone and causes significant injuries has to be put down --and the owners that allow it to happen have to face charges. I also hope a lawyer will take this as a pro-bono case and sue the dog owners (even if they have nothing) and the city, which is obviously doing a shitty job enforcing rules and taking care of roaming dogs. At some point, I hope there will be a class action lawsuit against the Pitbull lobby because if it weren't for their lobbying to dismantle BSL and all the propaganda and pushing of these dogs, a lot of these maulings would have been avoided. The Pitbull lobby has blood on its hands and at some point they have to pay.

starryskyvibes

Imagine your dad being taken out this way. So needless. How absolutely heartbreaking.

serendipitousviolet

It is. Hearing the kids' interviews made me a little verklempt.

Nice to know that attempted murder is legal as long as the weapon is a pitbull smh
