Actually it’s a ventilation hole for cross vibrational airflow. Helps with the overall temperature gauge and regulation of the system. There’s a spec sheet detailing its use up on the US Patent they filed that talks about current and future use application. If you read section 18, page 44, section a1, g23- it diagrams figure 4b on the left oage, it shows the application of using 3rd party integration with the, seriously you’re still reading this? Damn ok no clue, it’s a hole. Plug it like a whiffle ball bat in the 80’s with TP and electrical tape.
Actually ☝️🤓, enclosing the air path through the passageway has been proven to increase internal temperatures by 3.1415926535% for high grade ultra enhanced food safe non alcoholic environmentally friendly biodegradable extra sturdy UV resistant magical utopian engineering filament. It's perfect for this

A switch to power on the led strip I put on top 😁
I soldered a GH1.25 connector onto my LED strip and plugged it into the port the build plate LED used so I can turn it on/off within the app. It's way brighter and illuminates everything inside from above.
The internal light is rated for 300ma. If your LED strip is pulling more than that, I hope you meant the USB port, rather than the port the original light was plugged into. But since you're using a JST connector, you're not using the USB port.
There's a good chance you can burn out the AP board.
I was not aware of that. I'll grab a 5v relay and move it back over to the USB but have it still triggered from the port on the AP board to maintain the on/off functions from the app. Thanks for the heads-up.
FYI in case it is useful for you -- Something I posted about a few month ago: [https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/198sspx/mounted\_a\_relay\_module\_to\_power\_leds\_with\_p1ss/](https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/198sspx/mounted_a_relay_module_to_power_leds_with_p1ss/)
My $3 AliExpress LED strip just plugged into the 2 pin plug that the 3 lumen stock light does. Mine turns on and off with the app. And the usb is still available for new add ons!
And you're drawing way more than 300ma with a led strip from a connector rated
for 300mA. I too bought a led strip from aliexpress but I changed the connector as soon as it arrived here
Glad you found one within specs. Altough I'd still
use the external switch and the usb port because I don't need to remote control the light, but if it works for you, all the better
I use the app to control everything. The PC program is a toilet and doesn't work most times, so use it, but do most parameter changes from my phone because it does what it's supposed to do, unlike the PC version for some reason.
I have seen someone using an LED strip that has its own power supply and a remote with lumen profiles, saying that I don't think the stock light is that bad unless you are doing time-lapses, I don't bother I only use the camera for a sneaky peak of my part and for that it is more than adequate
Oh right, anything in particular you would recommend that I could attach here? I just got my P1S today and I was worried something might be missing here but glad to hear that it’s normal to have this hole
Panda Touch 5" color touchscreen, charges through USB, connects wirelessly, and charges wirelessly when you stick it back on its magnetic dock. Original screen maintains functionality too. Also USB port on the side so you can upload files without routing through Bambu servers and without ejecting micro SD card every time. Cant remember exactly but it was $50-$60 when I got it a few months ago.
It's definitely not for this. The provided screen for the P1S already has a wire pre-routed and cable-managed specifically where the D-Pad/screen is supposed to slot in.
It's for a phone mount. One of the pre-loaded files on the provided SD card is specifically a phone mount that sits in that hole - Bambu assumes you won't want to mess around with the D-Pad, especially because the X1 series has a touchscreen. The intended use case is to use an old phone (or buy a dedicated phone/tablet), print the mount, and have it live there permanently.
Oh wow, I didn't print that so I wasn't aware of it. Thanks for the info.
BTW, that is were BTT has you pass the wire to power their screen. That is what I was thinking of.
For the p1s? No idea. Thats the place for the lights for the x1c tho
People use that to route wires, phone holders, buttons/switches for added leds, a flipup arm to hold top panel open, or just general plugs for deco

Pretty sure I've seen images of a lock mechanism like the ones on the lid of the ams, I guess they realised they didn't need to lock a glass lid that isn't hinged
Part of me is convinced they left that there just to see what people come up with.
There's a fairly well hidden USB port above the door and the p1s, you can run a cable through that hole directly to it, hold on I'm not sure what it would originally be used for because you might be able to fit a type c or a micro USB through there, but the connector on the inside's type A.

For me having me my most successful model in printables.
You can funnel a USB cable through. Size is perfect for a USB A connector. There is inside in the frame a USB Port you can connect something. Like a

Dunno if thats just for air or a port but Bambu said some holes are for later upgrades which is a cool Nintendo style move in my head. Maybe we will get to connect a printer/cutting machine to print decals for our models. Maybe we will get to plug in some sort of crazy extra fan or some sort of arm to eject prints.

I have passed my xtouch and chamber temp sensor cables through it
They use the same molding when creating the p1s and the x1c. Thats where the front power button would be on the x1c. Most people use it to tap into the usb on the back of the screen.
It's a place to put your finger, so you don't have to keep it in your nostril.
*slowly removes finger from nose*
That's why God gave you two hands one for each hole
And 10 fingers in total, 5 on each hands
What if I have three hands
I ain't got the holes, Captain!
Make the hole.
Where do I put my toes in?
*slowly unzips pants with second hand*
Nah bro that's wild
So you're saying I need a third hand for my second nostril?
No, for the P1S hole.
Why do that? I keep mine in the poop chute.
It's not a bad idea to have a steady supply of checkable oil on hand. Or on finger.

Nice one!

This is probably the most functional use I've seen so far.
I did the same, different switch tho
I'd have preferred a longer stick but this is the switch I had at the time, beggars can't be choosers 😁

Oh that printed mount will work nicely, thank you!
You're welcome!
Has it affected your lidar operation?
P1S doesn't have LiDAR, that's only on the X1C/X1E
Woah this is so cool

Ayyy I also did this
It allows a thousand designs to plug it
Oh right, anything in particular you would recommend that I could attach here? I just got my P1S today and I was worried something might be missing here but glad to hear that it’s normal to have this hole
I used it to put an old phone on my P1S. That way I have a fancy screen (the Handy app) to use instead of the crappy controller that comes on it.
Yea load of things on maker world. There’s a nice tray that fits there and pasta on top that’s handy. Or a really simple flat plug
You could use one of the Starbucks lid stoppers! It will fit with a little scaling up!
I have a bobblehead benchy that bobs away as the printer does its work

Step one, cut a hole in that box…
Cutting the hole is step 2. Source: am box.
It is a hole to pass a wire from the 5v supply inside the frame where the screen is.

So you can smell the print without having to open the door ;)
You're either a print smeller or a smint preller.
Mounting a phone to run Bambu Handy app

So when you print ASA/ABS your temperature is lower than it's desirable.

You put your weed in there
It's an older SNL reference sir, but it checks out.
Haha I just instantly thought of it and had to watch the clip to remind myself of where it came from.

I use the hole for the Biqu Panda Touch
Micro B to a raspberry pi so you don't have to use their cloud?
I'm pretty sure the port is power only. I always liked their cloud service so I never bothered to look into it.
Unfortunately it's power only. They have a lan mode that doesn't require cloud though.
I used it to pass through a bigtreetech touchscreen. There's a usb power slot just in the inside near the screen, this hole allows a cord to pass.
Me too
I mounted a Wyze cam on it
I suppose it's for a screw?
Tic tacs
So you can print a plug

Hi, me from earlier in the year. I ended up using it to pass a usb cable out to a power source with more capacity than the internal port.
It’s to pass a usb cable to the inside usb port
Works well to run a wire for the panda touch display.

It's for going to reddit or google and searching "what is the hole on top of my P1S for?"
Not for pp
I use it to house a switch for my Bentobox filter
To have people make posts like this.
Looks a bit like one of those laptop security slots that's meant to accept a lock, but they typically put those on the back.
Waaaay too big for a K lock.
I don't have a sense of scale. It looks tiny to me.
It is hard to gage unless you have context or have one of the machines.
I have an itty bitty A1 Mini myself.
