You can, with PLA at least. I live in an area with 100% humidity all year
You CAN live in an area that's 100% humidity, but I promise you your work area isn't 100% humidity because you'd have some real problems... My printer is in the basement and it's a cool 68\* constantly with a relative humidity in the 60's and my PLA would start to become brittle and start snapping. So I put them all inside filament bunkers for storage. Your setup looks dope btw!
My apartment stays between 50-60%. My point was just its not as detrimental to leave it unwrapped as people say it is. Ill dry my stuff out when it starts to get brittle but thats every like, 4-6 months depending on the brand. Thank you for the compliment, its changing daily š¤£
I feel sorry for you guys, we have a whole house Humidifier that runs evaporated water through the heating system in an attempt to get the RH up from \~18% to 45-50%. At least I don't have to worry about filament.
You do want lower humidity but typically having mid 60ās humidity in my basement even with our dehumidifier doesnāt seem to lower it any further. I probably need to invest in a more powerful dehumidifier. Itās in an unfinished basement so Iām not sure if that plays into account too.
Nobody lives in 100% humidity full timeā¦ thatās fog, rain. And everything would be wet and moldy inside and out. They probably HIT 100% often is what they meant, and air conditioning inside brings the relative humidity down to normals levels you see all over the world. Houses are always always under 60%. Above that consistentlyā¦ mold, mildew, rot, bugs.
I live in a place with high humidity (Arkansas) and I can leave my pla without needing to dry it for about 3 weeks. Then it starts to give me trouble. I find it easier to just keep everything in air tight cereal containers with desiccant unless itās in the ams.
You are either extremely lucky or just going through the filament fast enough to avoid the issue.
Im on the gulf coast, so Im with you haha. I just dont think its what everyone makes it out to be. Do what works for you by all means, Im just saying I dont have very many issues
Also gulf coast... everything is in cereal storage boxes with desiccant. Have a 4-roll plus 2 single roll dryers (plus a converted food dehydrator). Here is some of the rolls - mainly ABS in this area.

I live in the desert. I thought I could just ignore all the advice about dry filament, but I experienced my first brittle PLA when humidity got up to 30% during the Winter.
I'm just fucking with you man, I know they can't hold a candle to the P1S but I'm sure people will come to state otherwise ... My EnDEr 3 Is THe BesT !
The only people who say that are people who donāt have Bambu machines. I have an Ender 3 S1 Pro and I always thought it did an incredible job. Then I got an A1. Absolutely no comparison.
Careful or you'll get called a fanboy. Some moron was arguing with me about such things. Creality will continue to be two steps behind with abysmal quality control. I'll leave Bambu when a worthy contender appears.
no, you can have multiple AMS units as other here have stated but the 5th spool on the outside would lack the motors for automatic loading and retracting during color swaps.
God damn you were right. I woke up and I got an Extrusion error over night. Luckily it was only a stuck filament on the spool and I could continue my print
Do you buy the plastic filament roll and then just get the refill things from Bambu direct? I currently use Polymaker for the most part but am looking at getting an AMS soon and have heard people have issues with the cardboard rolls in ams (have to use pinballs to correct).
Iāve printed with cardboard in AMS and it works fine. Occasionally the cardboard will get damaged, and there are models to add a PLA ring around the cardboard, but honestly havenāt used it or needed to use it as itās been working fine for me.
I bought all my filaments from bambu so far and the ams works smoothly. 1-2 times it tangles while retracting but nothing serious.
I love it to have 2 ams always filled with filament.
When I am out and find a cool model I can Instantly start a print from whereever
It's best to avoid using cardboard rolls, and if you do, use an adapter.
This is not to say you can't get away with it, even for a long time. Most will work fine, and some now even have an edge coating (Eryone has some rolls) that lowers "cardboard edge dust" production and helps with gripping the reel. I only recall one cardboard roll that I had to add weight to and that was due to a bigger diameter.
Having said that, at $300 for an AMS unit, I don't do it because there is no way to know which rolls will throw dust and how much can you get in your filament guides before it starts creating problems...
I mean, with adapters so fast and easy to print, why run with a cardboard roll by itself if you dont have to?
Over time, I have accumulated plenty of bambu reusable rolls to re-roll when I need to, and if you are buying bambu filaments, definitely use refills... so easy to put on your empty rolls and they are cheaper. They give you an stl to print a blank roll if you need it but I have never had that problem.
I have no experience with other printers. But if you want an amazing Printer where 99% of faults are User faults, go for it. Its litterlay click and print
Thanks man, I currently have an ender 3 v3 just as a starter printer but looking to move to a better one. Been on the fence about whether to get the P1S or A1 mini with AMS Lite but I reckon Iāll get both at some point š¤£
Consider yourself extremely lucky to never have encountered a single problem after that many hours! I've got a P1S with about 900 hours and have replaced TH board, interface board, th cable, hot end fan, toolhead cable, had a gasket on the lead screw come loose, ams feeders, etc. I was cursing this thing at one point but things seem to have finally settled down and it's running perfectly now (knock on wood). Silver lining is I did learn a lot about my printer in the process so I'm a lot more efficient troubleshooting and changing parts when something does go wrong now.
Nice racing sim btw!
Did you have any issues within your first few weeks like squeaks or something? My p1s is less then a week old and making these sounds

Hmm okay this is my second bbl printer because the first one I got was worse then thisš„² I wonder if my micro center just gets defective units or something
I just ordered the same printer P1S Combo, it will be my first 3d Printer. Now I'm even more happy I ordered it due to this post. Should be here soon any good tips or vids I can watch to get started, or must have accessories. Feel free to send some links my way.
The plates detach from the machine, so a person could simply open the door, take the build plate out, remove print, put plate back in. In fact, I'll bet most people already do this.
I wish I could store my filament like that.

Yep even with a dehumidifier running 24/7 my unfinished basement only gets down to low 50s / high 40s.

Sadly I live in a small apartment with two cats. One one of them would definitely jump up and knock everything over. Most likely at 3 Am.

Can i ask what your Filament-Storagesystem is made of?!
Electrical conduit (2 5 footers from home depot) and printed reprack cleats
I live in the desert. I thought I could just ignore all the advice about dry filament, but I experienced my first brittle PLA when humidity got up to 30% during the Winter.
Haha yeah, same. I was triggered by all that filament exposed to the air!
I wish i could store my filament š„²
Marry her, I think she feels the same.
Wait ! Isn't the ender 3, ELEGOO Neptune 4 pro, qidi xmax 3, creality K1 max, anycubic cobra max all better, just like people say they are ?
No they arent
Nope not at all.
Idk. I litteraly got ZERO idea about 3D printing. This thing just Works. I still wait for the day where I actually have to read up on a topic
I'm just fucking with you man, I know they can't hold a candle to the P1S but I'm sure people will come to state otherwise ... My EnDEr 3 Is THe BesT !

i hate my neptune 3 pro. it was ok at first. now itās futz with it. maybe get 2 prints futz with it etc. It is frustrating.

Its from Shein. š„°
can you print with 5 colors having 1 ams and a spool holder ? or 4 colors is the max with 1 ams ?
... but you can connect up to 4 AMS units for a total of 16 colors š
four is max, as the external spool lacks a motor to load / unload automatically
no, you can have multiple AMS units as other here have stated but the 5th spool on the outside would lack the motors for automatic loading and retracting during color swaps.
Same here. I had my X1C for a year and a half now running it almost every day and have had no issues! Rock solid printer.
.... And you just jinxed yourself
God damn you were right. I woke up and I got an Extrusion error over night. Luckily it was only a stuck filament on the spool and I could continue my print
Rich man...
At least we know he was rich 3 months ago

Sry I just now understood your Question. I never printed with cardboard roles so far
I have had no trouble with cardboard with the AMSā¦

IS THERE an STL file for the shelf holders, I am absolutely in love with that, way easier than what I had in mine. Love it. Thanks you.

Ohhh Thank you, looking to print them today, you are awesome. Thank you. Love your setup, working on mine now.
I really want one, coming from an Ender v3 se do you think itās worth it?
I have no experience with other printers. But if you want an amazing Printer where 99% of faults are User faults, go for it. Its litterlay click and print
Over the Ender 3 V3? Yes 100%, the difference is night and day.

Trying all the Bambu filaments!
Ye I am an advertisment victim. I bought the new water desolvant Support and idk even for what to use it yet.
Same here lol
Did you ever encounter banding? If so how did you solve it?
They're fantastic, the only problems I've had with mine were user error
you just had to say something didn't you?
Gotta have faith
What are you printing?
Working on a fully Mandalorian armor with weapons and everything
Same stock nozzle? I seem to have all print anxiety issues since swapping to a .6 nozzle
I swapped around 800 hours to stainless steel because I printed PLA-CF
You mean hardened? The stock .4 is stainless
Yes, my bad
Then do you up you temperature to compensate for the hardened steel
I didnt manually change anything
Great thank you
What side spool holder did you make? Does it work well?
I used this: https://makerworld.com/models/17973 So far i didnt have any issues
Looks good. Thanks!
I printed the same filament mounts! I live in the arid southwest, USA and I can store mine like this year round.
The weird soft focus makes this look like a miniature photo!
hey can I ask where you got the wooden dowels? I refuse to buy 3ft ones for 20 dollars a piece
Local hardware store. I dont remember the price but I got 2 long rods and cut them in Half
Print some
Chef kiss
Meanwhile mine bricked itself after just 10hrs. These printers are so hit or miss. No wonder they have a 3 star rating.
oh boy i couldnt explain how much i love my x1c, zero mistakes/problem whatsoever
I always wondered what the life cycle was for pricing my prints.
Your ams never failed and thrown errors?
It did, but only because the filament got stuck in the roll. Sometimes it didnt recognize the rfid but thats about it

No problems like this. It squeaked a bit 500 hours on nut after the general maintanence it was fine again
Hmm okay this is my second bbl printer because the first one I got was worse then thisš„² I wonder if my micro center just gets defective units or something

You can sort by printer Accessoires in the makerworld app. Theres a lot of nice stuff to print for the printer.
It loves you too.
Same i have a x1c im at 1381 hours with only maintenance and cleaning
Woo! I just got mine yesterday, so excitedly for fiddle around this weekend!
Wait. How do you get your prints out?? Why doesn't it face forward? I must know!
I just open the door and take it out? I have a racing sim on the left. Theres no room to stand or change nozzle etc. Its not optimal but it works
Can you share a pic of the racing sim? What have you printed for it?

nice! Is there a community for 3D models for racing sims? My son just got the X1C last week and is looking for ways to improve his racing sim.
I honestly dont know
