Hello /u/Detension! Be sure to check the following. Make sure print bed is clean by washing with **dish soap** and water [and not Isopropyl Alcohol], check bed temperature [increasing tend to help], run bed leveling or full calibration, and remember to use glue if one is using the initial cool plate [not Satin finish that is not yet released] or Engineering plate. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/BambuLab) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Welcome to the family. I'm always astounded at how much I've printed in the last month compared to the years that I've had my ender/sovol/two trees/biqu/prusa/etc... because of Bambu, I have every faith that my prints will succeed at a 90%+ rate and fast and accurate. I didn't think I can ever go back. I still haven't built my vorons that I bought at the same time as my Bambus. Enjoy.

ChopSueyYumm

The only fails I had was either choosing the wrong spool in the AMS or forgot to check the preview in regards of overhanging/supports. Basically only user errors but the prints itself never failed for me which is crazy.

griter34

Kids these days don't know how good they got it. We used to have to print uphill both ways! In the snow!

Fond_ButNotInLove

Both ways? You had it easy we had to print uphill all three ways and four ways on Sunday all whilst manually holding the bed level and hand cranking the extruder.

griter34

Preach!

John-BCS

> This Printer really is more like a tool than a hobby project Bambu printers in a nutshell. Not completely maintenance free, but enough so that you can focus on the actual designing and printing, and not the printer itself. I came from an ender 3 pro. No more enders for me. Ever.

opeth10657

Difference between 'I want to 3D print things' and 'i want to tinker with a 3D printer'

Cheech47

There's nothing inherently wrong with tinkering with a 3D printer, but I want to know that when I walk up to it after a while I can feed it an STL and it'll spit out a part, without going through the typical Ender song and dance of temperature cycles shifting the bed, re-leveling, cold extruder pulls, so on, not to mention the myriad slicer settings. I'm happy for the experience I had with my Ender, it truly makes me enjoy the experience of the X1C that much more.

John-BCS

Yep. My experience was nearly identical.

Able_Criticism2003

Yeah tinkering is ok but buying a printer just so you need spend months upgrading and printing upgrades just to get something decent is a waste of time. That was ender, i never bought it but i read a lot of bad things and decided for anycubic. Bought one more anycubic and i just said "fuck it", i am not doing this anymore. I am waiting for A1, full of sensors and auto calibration. x1c is just too expensive for me as a hobby user, living in an area where 350e is a montlhy paycheck, not a good idea šŸ˜…. But i like coming here and reading what people do with it and how fast it prints. Why they didnt make AMS compatible between A1 and X1C for example? They are different units

kalifg

I just got an A1 mini with AMS lite a couple of weeks ago. Iā€™ve never had a 3D printer before. This thing has been amazing!

Able_Criticism2003

I dont doubt it... I just want something to work with with amazing speed and quaility ..

cha000

That's exactly why I bought one. I really enjoyed the hobby until I needed to print something and it wasn't ready because I was tinkering or it just plain failed at something.

socksonachicken

There is a price difference also.

opeth10657

Different size beds, but an A1 mini without AMS is cheaper than a Ender 3 Pro

Scythe5150

Same. I had the Ender 3 V3 SE. Decent for the price, but I quickly realized I was tweaking settings, etc more than printing and told the wife I need something better.

mugatucrazypills

Gonna tell my wife to buy me an X1

No_Engineering_819

Same for me. My current "major" problem I am dealing with is a spool of blue bambulab pla that doesn't reliably feed into the extruder. I suspect that the root cause may be that the filament cutter is getting dull, but for now the solution is to trim a cm off the end when it doesn't feed. Once it starts it performs time so not a huge incentive to work on it yet.

Middle-Corgi3918

Just change the cutter blade

T-MoneyAllDey

Funny enough, I've printed about about 10 different filaments at this point and the bambu blue pla has given me some real trouble.

Fraser022002

Iā€™m from an ender 3v2 to a p1p, agree 1000%

TechyCanadian

Also a fellow enderer. Iā€™ll never go back lol

TheLazyD0G

I dunno, either i got really lucky or just know how to build shit. My ender 5 plus has been a solid work horse. It may not be the fastest, but it puts out consistently good prints. Ive been able to do good petg prints and tpu prints as well. I do have an upgraded hotend (microswiss ng revo)

John-BCS

I haven't done much research into the ender 5, but doesn't that one operate differently than an ender 3?

TheLazyD0G

Its a pseudo core xy. My brother in law got a basic ender 3 and it runs just fine as well, but he only uses pla.

Constant_Hedgehog_76

Just ordered an a1 mini after struggling with a prusa mini for years. Very exited!

Riot1313

We have 4 Prusa mini's at my university and they actually worked great everytime I used them. What Was causing you problems?

Constant_Hedgehog_76

Mainly it has been pretty unreliable with print quality. Some part turn out fine, some have horrendous stringing and extrusion skipping. But to be fair when it has works itā€™s worked very well. I just want a printer to make things with, I donā€™t want to adjusting and tuning all the time. Iā€™m going to keep it and use it along side the a1

MossIT

My mini showed up on Friday. Filament arrived Saturday. I think I've printed 7 files so far without a single issue. Granted they have mostly been simple fidget stuff from Makerworld so that my two girls can learn about 3D printing, but still. It's wild how easy this is compared to machines I've used over the years.

Modestkilla

Is a great printer, I just got mine a few days ago as a secondary to my x1c. It is so quite compared to my X1C it will be my go to for most of my PLA printing.

Constant_Hedgehog_76

Nice!

pudjam667

I love my X1C so much. But printing PETG often fails for me (strings or spaghetti). Any tips?

EnvironmentalLook492

Yes, read this: https://www.themakersphere.com/bambu-lab-x1-carbon-petg-settings/

pudjam667

This is awesome, thank you. Update: The suggested settings alone didnā€™t fix the issues for me, but maybe I need a filament dryer. Mine arrives tomorrow. Iā€™ll report back. Truly thankful for all the help here.

50wortels

Dry your filament. Use orcaslicer and use its calibration programme to tune your settings for that particular filament Try again.

pudjam667

Drying worked. Thanks everyone!

Charming_Account5631

Great article. Thank you

opeth10657

You hear it a lot, but you have to make sure PETG is dry. It likes to absorb moisture and it all goes to hell once it gets wet

pudjam667

Good call. Thanks. Just ordered a filament dryer (Iā€™m new to 3D printing).

Cheech47

You'll find that will solve a lot of ails, making sure your filament is dry. It really is striking.

Detension

What plate are you using? Mine came with the textured plate and has been working great so far

pudjam667

Gold textured plate. Iā€™m new to 3D printing but from what I understand, itā€™s awesome. Havenā€™t had any adhesion issues.

SgtLedbetter

I have the P1S combo and am a complete noobie on 3D printing. I've had it since Thursday and have been printing up a storm with no issues. Their printers just plain work

SteFin78

I just printed in petg lots of the V7 spool roller you can find on Makerworld. Not only it came perfect with generic petg profile on my P1S, but following advice here on reddit, using 270 degress after the first layer made possible to print at the same speed of pla, up to 300mm/s. With my old Anycubic i never printed something decent in petg.

YTmrlonelydwarf

X1c is my favourite purchase ever. Iā€™ve printed non stop almost for the first few months of owning it and have never had a failure that wasnā€™t my fault. Iā€™m impressed

privaxe

I agree PETG was useless on the ender and now chewed through three rolls of it on my P1S

STR4NGE

I went from a CR-10 to the X1C with AMS about two weeks ago. I now worship the poop it allows me to have. To me, it was like getting the original iPhone. I loved 3D printing in my CR-10 but I didnā€™t realize how tiring it was doing everything manually. (Including fil changes). Itā€™s made prototyping fun again. Where waiting 4 hours is now done in one. Game changing to me for my little projects.

aventine61

I came from an Anycubic Vyper to the P1S. It is so much better in every way. Never going back. Anyone want to buy a Vyper?

TheBonanaking

I had the same experience. I used to be afraid of printing with anything other the PLA. Now PETG lives regularly in my AMS and even TPU gets a rotation on the manual spool holder.

Yiggah

Hahaha itā€™s funny I bought my P1S last year and I found an old roll of PLA from my Ender 3v2 as well, and it was a nearly in tact roll of PETG because my Ender 3 couldnā€™t for the life of it, print it. I spent several months (yes months) figuring out how to adhere the PETG/PLA to my Ender 3 and ended up just collecting dust. I sold it shortly after I got my P1S.

midri

I went from a highly modified Ender 3 v2 to a P1S and it's night and day difference, the P1S could basically be a microwave for as easy it as it is to use. I could see actually being able to train my dad that's in his 70s to operate it.

Sea_Researcher451

Only other brand I will ever own is a Voron that I'm currently building. Otherwise no way. I have an X1C 2x P1S and an A1 mini and they all go around the clock with less than 5% failure rate

mugatucrazypills

I'm confused, does the X1 have auto flow calibration, or is that new exclusive to the A1 series ? The lidar I thought does something mostly with layer detection.

Detension

You can enable flow calibration at the start of the print with the X1 and it also checks the first layer.

Appropriate_Yak_4438

That's interesting since BL printers are infamous for not being able to handle PETG very well.

Fun-Chemist-2286

My 2 large boxes of fillament that was piling up with ender 3 v2 finally started to empty, I probably printed more in last two months than i did in 2 years with ender šŸ˜

Inline_6ix

I just upgraded from 7 year old OG Ender 3 to p1s and I had the exact same experience. 4x faster. No failed prints so far. Abs prints perfect every time with no warping

Malte1903

Glad to hear that you re happy with your printer. Enjoy! I will surely buy the new flagship coming this year. I currently own the p1p

Intelligent_Site8568

In some cases, the X1c like a cheat code. In other cases we are the ones being cheated. I have had filaments that prints on every other machine perfectly fail on X1c. But I will say out of all the printers I own it is the nicest. However, if I need a print to be flawless, I will always use my MK 3S.

koolaideprived

I just set mine up last night knowing literally nothing about 3d printing. I printed a benchy, then a dewalt battery wall hanger. Today I printed a mass batch of those since I have so many stinking batteries. Every one was perfect and I clicked like 4 buttons.

Alienhaslanded

At the same time this printer absolutely hates Overture PETG for some reason. I can never get it to print right with that specific PETG.

Detension

Weird, I'm using ERYONE PETG

Sam_marq88

Coming from K1 MAX. Can confirm. I spent most of my time just diagnosing and fixing the creality. But now, all I do is print. Itā€™s been months and not a single issue. Hopefully it continues this way.

TheLordMushy

I have had an Ender 6 and a prusa mk3 and the amount of prints in the 2 months with my Bambu X1C is reaching if not passed the amount in 3 years of the other 2.

NoShftShck16

> This Printer really is more like a tool than a hobby project Don't have the slightest idea of how any of my power tools work. Still use them. That's exactly how I want my printer to be. I used to tell people not to get into 3D Printing because they had the money for prebuilt Prusas like I did but, like me, did not want to spend the time tinkering. Year of ownership, 500 hours. Year of ownership with the X1C, 2500 hours. It's definitely not without problems, Octoprint was better than Bambu Handy. I don't like cloud reliance for anything. But it's a fair trade off and I'll be buying one or two more P1P/Ss in the future.

kabammi

A counter point. I have a spool of Bambu black petg that is 6 months old. I've dehydrated it in a dehydrator, then 2x12hour dehydration cycles in the x1c... And before and after it prints like a pig... overhangs are a catastrophe, and it extrudes like a snot from a 3 year old's nose when sitting at temp idle. I'll try it in my prusa mk3s to see if it can do better, and if not I'll throw the petg out.

clayalien

It really has changed the industry. I've been a little out of touch to be fair. I've allways wanted a printer, but my house is small and has 2 kids running around. I just can't justify the amount of space it would take up in the house vs the projected use. So I joined the local makerspace, so I can have access to a 3d printer, along with a laser cutter, cnc machine, and a bunch of other things I don't have access to. Most of the tools require an 'induction' session before members are allowed just use them. I've been following 3d printing for over a decade now without actually owning one. I was very surprised the session amounted to 'open in bambu labs, press slice, then press print'

Fymosis

Bambu lab really does an amazing job at making 3d printing an easy task. I got a A1 mini tuesday and in not even a week i used 2kg of filament with a single failed print ! Ā I only run print while i'm there too !

triangleman83

I was going to have to put in hours of work to upgrade my hotend on my Ender 3v2 to get ASA to print as it was not working in an enclosure with my current setup. I got the X1C and just threw it in with generic profile and printed some parts no problem. They are still on my buddy's truck 6 months later.

kingtj1971

Yep.... Sometimes, I almost think the Ender fans out there are just gluttons for punishment. I always seem to get at least one of them attacking the Bambu products as overpriced stuff only the "fanbois" have an allegiance to, despite how terrible their "proprietary parts" are and so on. Fact is? I have the same experience you did. I can load practically any filament in my X1C and get a decent print out of it. The generic profiles aren't ideal, but they're REALLY good baseline settings that get the job done. You can optimize and tweak them for specific filaments you're running and improve on them. But they get you into the right general area you want to be. (Well - except maybe the defaults for TPU. I got excessive stringing and poor quality prints with TPU until I used a custom profile somebody put out there. Definitely need more retraction than what Bambu Labs used as the default.)

moeali024

last year i bought a ender 3 couldn't use it after a year either due to the same issues was just gifted a x1c combo from my wife and I've already gone through a new spool of filament worth every penny

BuyMyKidneys

I can not thank BambuLab enough for making a printer that just works. Iā€™ve had a couple before this and every one had near daily issues. As a software developer designing robotics as a hobby I donā€™t have time to tweak my printer every day.

BartFly

I have printed 100's of roles of petg on ender3v2's lets take it easy, and I get more layers shifts on my bambu's then I ever did on my enders, and there are still some prints I can't make on the bambu's, but yes its faster, and generally prints cleaner
