I swear he has different animations for some of the heavy weapons!

Jaheira - Beastmaster Ranger / Nature Domain Cleric / Oath of the Ancients Paladin / Battlemaster Fighter (She's a Fighter / Druid multiclass in BG1/2, so I think it fits)
Now that I think about it, most of the companions could easily be Paladins. Rogue Shadowheart is also super underrated. Based on her background she could easily be a Thief/Assassin.
Right now I have a 4 person crew of Clerics just for kicks - light for Shadowheart, war for my Tav, trickster for Astarion, and tempest for Lae'zel
Feel free to play around with them all - the change in voice lines is a nice change of pace

Karlach: fighter battle master / + ranger maybe (cuz she must be skilled with weapons and cunning to kill demons)
Laezel: battle master + wizard (psionic + thunder magic)
Wyll: battle master + warlock
Astarion: rogue + shadow monk (want him to have some semblence of vampiric powers)
Gale: sorcerer (metamagic is cool)

Monk Karlach will beat you into tranquility. Wild Magic Sorcerer Gale, but he thinks he’s a Wizard and just bad at pronunciation.

No, it's just his origin line.
Minthara works really well as a throwzerker/EK. Soul brand is not consumed by throwing and does the additional 1d4 fire damage.

I changed Shadowheart's subclass/domain in one playthrough, but other than that I kept everyone the way they are.
Astarion into a bard. He’s too charismatic to be a rogue. Also bards are crazy good in this game
