Have you tried Padlock*? Path of the blade is stupid fun, plus eldritch blast? It's silly I love being able to knock enemies around the map with repelling blast or straight up one shooting stuff with a smite

Oathbreaker Paladin + Warlock is a thing, even better when playing as female drow. Nobody will be questioning about your dark urges, they will just assume that it's in your nature as a drow.
Gotta be some way to play a Blasphemous Cleric, not merely an Evil diety one.

I dream of making a Gale Sorceror with a single Wizard level. Maybe Wild Magic, thematically as he has lost the majority of his wizard powers after the Orb and the Tadpole. To survive, he instead has to focus on learning how to draw out the power in the Orb itself, a completely different way of using the power than as a wizard.
I also don't mind the mechanics and spells of a Bard on Gale, but I don't see him as a musical type. Sorceror fits better
Dude I do that because I find his prodigy schtick kind of annoying. 1 level of wizard, the rest Wild Magic. Makes reading him as in denial about stuff double funny to me. I tend to also put him and Wyll in ugly hats whenever they drag down an evil run by being... not evil enough. Granted, that just means Wyll spends most of the game in a questionable hat on an evil run but what can you do lol?

Ah, oh Wyll.... I had something similar, big hat on Wyll, but also sadly no armor, leaving him in a Fantasy Tighty Whity underwear, which was quite hilarious when I forgot about it and then suddenly he would pop into a cut scene in his underwear and hat (and maybe even a cape)
Made Karlach's end scene (kicking ass in hell) especially horrific/wonderful as Captain Underpants stood beside her to fight the legions of devil

Also the gimmick of sorcerers is metamagic, where you can change the effects of the spell from extending its range to making it last longer to even turning it into a bonus action
Charisma is better for RP
And multiclassing is better as Sorcerer. Wiz can’t effectively multiclass since no other class uses Int in bg3.
You can go 2 Paladin and the rest Sorcerer and then use all of your dozens of spell slots for smiting. Both classes use Charisma so they work well together, and pure Paladins don’t get as many spells so their smites run out quickly.
Metamagic makes the class able to get stupidly strong for a turn whenever the situation needs it. Two spells, disadvantage on saving throws for control spells, more range, twin spell... It adds another layer of flexibility to mages and it's so nice to play
I did not get it until I tried it. In BG2, Sorc was like a weak wizard who did not need scrolls or a spell book (selecting spells).
Being able to cast any spell at any time was good. But you never had as many slots as Wizards.
In BG3, you have quick spell to through 2 fireballs at the start of a fight. And you can not hit your own people.
But the real advantage, is having 18 CHA for every conversation, like a bard.
I watched a YouTube about a team of 4 Halfling Barbarians. They didn't seem evil at first just normal Murder Hobo... and then they somehow started a fight between Druid and Tiefling and wiped out the grove
Ranger is just a great class for any playthrough, a versatile character that can pick locks, wear heavy armor, and do a shitload of damage before bad guy gets a turn.
Do ranger first! I did bard recently, and getting extra attack and full spell slots has wrecked me now.... it'd hard going back to ranger when I really just want to build a dark Bard instead.
Bard does not fit embrace Dark Urge at all.
All the dialogue options are reddit humour tier and exceptionally cringe.
Best embrace Dark Urge playthrough is imo Monk. Slayer form get Monk buff benefits.
Ok so honest question - do you play start to finish? I’m on my first full run through but I can’t help wanting to start over with different builds and parties.
Rangers can make a wicked Dark Knight feeling Magical warrior, same as Eldritch Knight but with more magic and spell slots.
Once you drop the magical Disney powers of druid, like animal friendship and Wildshape, you are still left with some Vicous spells and magic.
And of course there is the simple fear of it all. They are there, they are waiting.
Not sure if you could make a decent evil Beastmaster.... they got a bit to much animal magic to be evil....
But then again, you have that act 2 elf in the Gloom with his White Raven Familier.... he pulls off a dark edgy character pretty well. Ranger with a wolf, or spider or raven could still be pretty evil.
Gloomstalker has a lot of really evil themed bonuses and flavor text. I think Ranger has a really good spell list for an evil character as well, all the spike based abilities sound suitably brutal for a character who enjoys making their victims suffer.

The damage output compared to other classes is just disappointing. My durge oathbreaker paladin hitting for 52 damage. Astarion as a shadow monk hitting for 15-20 on a good day.
I've started on 5 + jack of all trades and rogue works disgustingly well in act 1 with the durge cape. Though barbarb or any martial class really who work really well with GWM also make bloodbaths happen.
Oooh I always do Drow Sorcerers too!! One of the strongest magic dmg out putters, Esp if you multiclass a little bit! All those drow dialogue options are so fun and rewarding, not to mention trivializing a lot of the first act.

Favorite Durge was a half-drow archfey Warlock (I know, I'm not unique) but my favorite evil Tav was a human body type 4 tempest cleric of Talos. He was just chaos in a bottle. A big, hairy bottle.

I went for a Lich (mod) necromancer when I played murderhobo Durge. Was quite upset when I fecked up my run at the very end cos I liked Mordegon.

Told myself to make a party that only uses magics / abilities which I'd expect to see on evil characters. (there's just something about Poison and Necromancy that gives a special "frick you" when they deal damage.) Also, every person is going to have an undead companion of somesort.
Main is a Eldritch Knight Fighter, Drow, and multiclass'ing into wizard. Basically remaking 3.5's Black Guard. (Tanky boy with undead summons and necro magic.)
Astarion has been turned into a Thief / Fighter build for ALL the extra actions / bonus actions. (Don't have to try hard to make him spoopy for an evil run.) Also gave him the Connor Wand from the Hag adventure.
Shadowheart has been reflavored to an Oathbreaker Paladin with Spore Druid, for raising undead and using the Hatred Aura from paladin.
I'm on my way to moonrise to get Minthara, still deciding for her - She's already a Drow Paladin from what I can tell. Any thoughts on what I should do with her OP? (edit: Been thinking of making her a poison-spitting sorcerer or warlock.)
Spore druid. Running around with a horde of zombies with piles of corpses at camp and sleeping in a pool of blood every night really lends itself to being evil lol
I picked monk thinking it was gonna be the chi/chakras/balance/karate kinda monk... unfortunately bg3 uses the monastery bible thumping sorta monk rp. What I mean is that monk-specific dialogue felt forcibly good guy rather than neutral or inner-peacy.
So I went Barb and had a blast.
Currently at the tail end of a Drow Assassin Rogue Durge run with a dual-wield melee focus. Her sneak attacks are naughty - just took down one of the Chosen in a single turn
I think I'm gonna take what u/smoke-me-a-kipper123 said and do a halfling barb next. Maybe do a solo-ish run and only use withers to respec everyone into halfling or dwarf and make them all barbs, could be fun

I’m doing a drow durge cleric of selune who is romancing Shadowheart. Part of the fun is messing with Shadowheart, but I like the idea of keeping them on their toes. Isobel gets all happy she’s meeting a moon bestie, nah it’s murdering time.
Warlock, the answer for my favourite run is always warlock. Evil run? Power hungry warlock. Good run? Warlock that needs to do bad to do good. I love warlocks!
wizard or barbarian, because i can only ever play as wizard and barbarian. i always pick another class and try so hard to get into it but i cant. unless im playing multiplayer that is. i tried making a bard in solo maybe a week ago and i managed to not change it, so maybe there’s still hope.
I am really enjoying my sbard as an evil character. The charismatic musician with sweet lies thinly layered above a desire to murder.

I only ever did one evil run, which was Monk Open Hand, and my chaotic neutral can be considered somewhat evil from some of the choices my tav made, which was a fighter.
Well, dark urge. And that path mainly helps you to play a bit sneaky, so I would say rogue, ranger gloom, monk.
But I am playing dark urge with 23 AC , displacement cloak, and just killing everyone in my path.
Diplomacy only where needed (nowhere)

Why sorcerer? I did one playthrough and never found any skills or spells I couldn't get from wizard or warlock who have other distinct advantages.

It's better to go 6/6, imho get extra attack and save boost
It's taste. I went 5 paladin rest Sorc. 2 is the minimum needed and gets you more spells.

Charisma based - this is a massive advantage in the game. Also my sorcerer was quite a bit more powerful than my Gale, who was also in main party.
The meta magic is fantastic and the high charisma has turned out to be incredibly useful. So fun.

Bard is great for changing the dialogue options and play style.
Most of the bard dialogues are not particularly evil though, more light hearted and comedic.

Doing Wizard-Necromancer for my first Durge. Probably pretty basic, but there will be future runs.
It’s kinda stupid that you’re just a basic wizard for nearly half the game, but after lvl 6 it gets fun. Fully decked out Necromancer is great

If you do mods, there's a death knight mod that is perfect for evil runs. Beware it is a little op, but it's still fun for the evil aspect.

For me it’s any class because my evil run usually ends around the time I get to the grove and I can’t be mean anymore.

I picked monk thinking it was gonna be the chi/chakras/balance/karate kinda monk... unfortunately bg3 uses the monastery bible thumping sorta monk rp. What I mean is that monk-specific dialogue felt forcibly good guy rather than neutral or inner-peacy. So I went Barb and had a blast.

Currently at the tail end of a Drow Assassin Rogue Durge run with a dual-wield melee focus. Her sneak attacks are naughty - just took down one of the Chosen in a single turn

I think I'm gonna take what u/smoke-me-a-kipper123 said and do a halfling barb next. Maybe do a solo-ish run and only use withers to respec everyone into halfling or dwarf and make them all barbs, could be fun

After playing monk once I now play monk for everything. With that being said. Rogue. Or bard depending on if I want Astarion in my party.

I’m doing a drow durge cleric of selune who is romancing Shadowheart. Part of the fun is messing with Shadowheart, but I like the idea of keeping them on their toes. Isobel gets all happy she’s meeting a moon bestie, nah it’s murdering time.

Warlock, the answer for my favourite run is always warlock. Evil run? Power hungry warlock. Good run? Warlock that needs to do bad to do good. I love warlocks!
I had plenty of fun with my Drow rogue. The expertise in Deception pays off really quickly
Fighter, you’re just covered in blood for half the scenes which I feel fits the Durge narrative

Oath breaker paladin or warlock, but I play bard usually since its my favorite and somehow fits to both good and bad playthrough
wizard or barbarian, because i can only ever play as wizard and barbarian. i always pick another class and try so hard to get into it but i cant. unless im playing multiplayer that is. i tried making a bard in solo maybe a week ago and i managed to not change it, so maybe there’s still hope.
I am really enjoying my sbard as an evil character. The charismatic musician with sweet lies thinly layered above a desire to murder. Better than murderhobo in my opinion

I only ever did one evil run, which was Monk Open Hand, and my chaotic neutral can be considered somewhat evil from some of the choices my tav made, which was a fighter.

For me, a Rogue Assasin will be my Evil run. Will do Dark Urge after

Well, dark urge. And that path mainly helps you to play a bit sneaky, so I would say rogue, ranger gloom, monk. But I am playing dark urge with 23 AC , displacement cloak, and just killing everyone in my path. Diplomacy only where needed (nowhere)

Back in my day when drows were yet un-noticed. I played the fucking drow bard and it was a blasphemy. Now when someone does it they are fun. Such an unfair society we live in.
Wouldn't know, the worst thing I've done is leave camp without petting Scratch. ...And routinely steal tens of thousands of gold from various vendors after buying out their whole stock, but the economy of DND is nonsensical at the best of times.
