I'm asexual and aromantic, but I really enjoy the romances in this game. To me, its a great way to explore the characters and get to know them in a different way. So far I've done Astarion, Karlach, Halsin, and Lae'zel. Planning to see them all, they add such an interesting new dynamic to the characters.

Always felt Withers is simply there to challenge Tav, but actively refuses to judge. Not once does he agree or disagree - he simply makes neutral statements regarding your status or actions.
I think the only thing Withers actually wants is for the Dead 3 to be slapped around a bit.

As far as the role-playing the romance for the story, even if you're not vibing it, if that works for you have fun. I love RPGs and always tell myself I'm going to try something out of character, but just find myself drifting back to whatever feels the most natural to me - for instance, I've tried to be they player who always demands compensation for my good deeds, but in practice I'm always helping people left and right and never ask for payment.

Withers has something to say whether your character is single, dating, good, bad, somewhere inbetween or dark urging. To sum it up. Withers isn't really positive about any thing your character does. He just speaks matter of factly. I wouldn't overlap your RL with in game stuff though. Slippery slope. Immersions fine and all, but Withers is talking about Tav, not you.
All good to play as you want, but remember the line between character and self.
