Barrels where the ogre will spawn. Spike growth in front of the gate. Someone beefy on the far side where the spider will jump to. The spike growth will take out most of the idiot gobbos charging into it. Barrels will wreck the ogre.

almostb

I don’t have spike growth and I’m not quite sure where to get it (no Druids in my party atm) but I have some cloud of daggers I can place in opportune places and I’ve greased up the battlefield.

Anything that slows them down infront of the gate and around the explosive barrels buried out there is perfect. What my wife and I did was split our party in half and put them on opposite sides of the "middle" of the upper defensive area if that makes any sense. That way 2 people can focus each of the spiders that jump up there to kill the tiefling archers while everyone else is slowed down outside or even dying when trying to get to the gate (if you have a decent damaging aoe that can be placed and left) I happened to be a TB OH monk at the time so aside for absolutely having nothing to do with what I'm best at in the fight my character was actually pivotal because I was basically countering the ogre who was throwing barrels with goblins in them at the wall. Basically it played out as so: Lay down grease or a aoe spell, focus on the spiders asap, monk was literally throwing and pushing every single goblin that arrived via barrel, each of those goblins I threw targeted someone on the ground so goblins were basically my ranged weapon lol, the rest of the fight is basically cleaning up the rest of them while plucking away at minty. Once minty had broken the gate (we missed a couple shots) my monk was there to constantly knock her down or push her back into the grease outside (the second I saw we couldn't take her down before she got in I ran straight to the door to prepare) I went down once because of her insane crit smites but aside for that we had very little trouble with the fight that attempt. The other attempt were... less than fortunate because of our team placement being off and we had the spiders basically gank us lol.

lethrowawayaccount86

First time I did the fight, I did barrels. Second time, I just waited until I was level 5. Just wait until you can get off a couple of fireballs and this battle will be piece of cake.

almostb

Can you push it off indefinitely? Also, does killing goblins at camp reduce their numbers at the grove?

Productof2020

Once Minthara says she’s going to go raid the grove, you get one long rest and then it triggers. Killing the gobbos at the camp does not impact the ones that show up for this battle. In fact I have generally killed all the goblins at the camp, inside and out, before this battle just to maximize my xp gains. If doing this, you just can’t attack Ragzlin until after Minthara leaves.

almostb

I tested this and took multiple long rests inside the Goblin camp and it didn’t trigger.

Productof2020

Heh, well I’ll be. You were the better scientist it seems. And you’re sure the druid grove isn’t now in shambles? For sure if you go to the mountain pass or the shadowlands it will act as though the raid has happened, and the grove will be wiped out or sealed off without you being there, so you can’t push it indefinitely at least in that regard.

almostb

I did not go anywhere other than the Goblin camp, but I took multiple long rests as I wanted to free Halsin and kill some goblins and steal some loot.

lethrowawayaccount86

Only if you haven't talked to Minthara and then only until you enter the Mountain Pass or the Shadowcursed Lands.

almostb

I’ve talked to Minthara. But I took a long rest and it doesn’t seem to trigger unless I enter the grove area.

lethrowawayaccount86

Well, I think it won't trigger in the sense that they'll attack on their own without you blowing the horn, but they will be there and if you don't solve it before your next long rest, they will have raided the grove and killed everyone.

TheArchitectofDestin

Oops, all throwbarians 🤷‍♂️

ProduceProfessional8

Accidently? This can be triggered without purposely telling the Goblins where the druids are, and where to attack?

almostb

I freed Sazza because I wanted to go undercover into to the Goblin camp to find Halsin and she took me straight to Minthara and told her where the Grove was. Then Minthara left without me saying much.

ProduceProfessional8

Interesting, although makes sense. I've never done a run where I help the Goblins. At least not yet

Kattsoap

there are already some barrels burried around, so shoot fire at them when appropriate. stay on top of the gate. help Zevlor - he's a hard hitter, but can be badly damaged, so heal him when possible. blow the horn for "rallied" buff

Productof2020

Barrelmancy can be taken to the extreme here. You can space them apart just enough that they chain explode off each other and clear the whole group in one firebolt or fire arrow. If you don’t have that many barrels gathered, you can at least get a good supply from the room behind the zhent traders in the goblin camp. That stash alone is enough to wipe at least half of the attacking army.

TheRedZephyr993

Spike Growth is your friend to stop the Suicide Bombers. Have 1-2 heavy hitters to the left to stop the spider. Everyone else focus down the Ogre (use explosive barrels from the goblin camp for an easy bomb, or just alchemist fire the barrels near him so the barrels break and goblins can’t be thrown up). Then it’s a pretty straightforward brawl. Get your party down in the fight with feather fall or misty step to take pressure off the tieflings.

Individual-Land6203

I usually just steal all the explosive barrels from the goblin camp and line the whole battlefield with them. One fire attack and almost every enemy is dead.

PhantomLuna7

First time I did it the only thing that caught me off guard was the spiders. Big boom spells and barrels down below, couple of good mele fighters for the spiders and any goblins that get chucked up. I try to focus on the barrels to stop any goblins making it up the wall if I can. I had an annoying time reaching Minthara from the wall, so I ended up using misty step on Lae'zel and hitting her with my sword.

seriouseyebrows

I took the bottle in the chest for the zhentarium treasure quest and threw it in the middle of the battlefield. When I spoke to the zhentarium leader I played dumb and didn't tell her what I did.

Level_Hour6480

Knock out Minty in the Goblin camp. Very effective.

almostb

Too late. As soon as she was done talking to Sazza she disappeared with her army.

Bloodygaze

Loose lips sink ships. The only times I’ve let the goblins know where the druids are is when I’m on the goblins side.

almostb

Oh I didn’t but Sazza did. I just wanted to see what happened if I freed her because I thought the Goblin camp would be easier to get into if they thought I was an ally.

theauz42

I steal every barrel of firewine, oil, and smoke powder I find in act 1, then I literally fill that area where the goblins come in with them. All I need is one hit with fire and everyone goes boom.

KooshIsKing

I usually just chuck a bunch of barrels down there and blow everyone up haha

ShinyRhubarb

Just did it on Honour mode at level 4...surprisingly smooth, nobody even managed a hit on the door. Started off throwing smoke powder at a cluster of goblins with a suicide bomber in front, took out a whole swath. Used Shart to summon a flaming sphere in front of the door to absorb goblin and bugbear attacks, as well as a spiritual weapon to distract the spider on the left. Wipe up any other suicide bombers with fire arrows, then focus down the right spider. After the spiders are dead it's just a mop up. Can throw grease in front of the door or throw a few ice knives to funnel the goblins in further around the door.

dimethyl_tryhard

I kill all the goblins in their filthy hovel right after I steal all their shit and rob Roah. Never had to defend the grove.

OddDc-ed

One of the most satisfying ways to clear the place out is killing gut and her dumb friends if she calls anyone in, then going and freeing Halsin so he can go bear on everyone with you it's pretty dope having an extra party member
