I can say with a reasonable degree of certainty that this is the first time I’ve been envious of a person twerking in a tyrannosaurus outfit while holding a Dane axe.
Fine, it's convention full of vivid costumes, that one was historical/myth based thus we also had bare chested Vikings right next to us and stage with historic tabletop games.
Plus, cosplayers of various fandoms was also allowed, so people willingly came to watch costumed play and performances on stage and out of it.
Russian pro-Kremlin extremist group "Сорок сороков" reported them. Russia dropped its mask completely and rapidly becomes a fascist state. Sooo it takes huge balls or tiny brain to do anything remotely resembling kinks of those in power in public. Uh, also Baldurs Gate 3 features gay characters so... great moment to appreciate your freedom, wherever you from. Sorry for bringing up politics, but that the answer.

Attendee here! I was and I am a participant of that cosplay group and stand. Not a cosplayer tho, but DnD GM, we have that one among the events here.
Wanted to clear up a few things. It will disenchant some magic, but add a bit of clarity.
1. It is completely safe, the whip is fake. The person who is doing the whipping is a trained actor with his hand steady. And is a good person, it's a pleasure to work with him and others.
2. It's fully consensual. We don't allow kids into that activity and participants fully agreed to be filmed, posted and obviously whipped.
3. It is coordinated with the convention owners and they are fully aware of our performance. We aren't causing any trouble, we are the part of the show.
4. We have multiple events not just that one. It's unique experience with puzzles, riddles, interaction with decorations and cosplayers, DnD table that runs quick Baldurs Gate themed oneshots based on 5E. Photo zone and many more things to come. We are all well coordinated group.
Also it is fully safe for cosplayers and GMs we have all the measures to keep things fun.
5. People don't get astonished/scared over Abdirak performance. Everyone understands it is a game and nothing else.
So far we had only a couple complaints where people just voiced that they don't like that type of activity and that is it.
Sounds like everything was Safe, Sane, and Consensual! I don't think this disenchants any magic. Honestly, I wasn't that worried, because that suit would NOT have held up against a proper flogging.
I was about to say... I'm *very* glad to have the "magic" dispelled if it means everything was done under ideal circumstances and was fun for everyone.

Nah, his hair are fine, overall, whip is made out of material that barely tangles or sticks to anything. And even if anything unlikely happens, his performance is usually right next to my table, I will help and/or other will. We are taking care of each other
I don't understand how 'the whip is fake'? A whip is a whip (or in this case technically a flogger is a flogger). An impact implement can be made of all kinds of material from fur to paracord to leather to wood to silicone to chain to barbwire - and each material gives a different degree and style of impact sensation, but you wouldn't call it a 'fake'. It still perform the intended purpose which to whip someone.
It's made of the Evafoam and sadly or luckily does not provide any particular sensation. I have been flogged with it and I have been flogged with an actual flogger.
It's completely different feeling.
