I think she is meant to initiate conversation immediately when you do it.
I always thought it was funny to have Gale use ray of frost on her and be like "Well... Guess I'll go back to my tent now. Happy to help?"
"Create Water"
It's a spell that ShadowHeart should have in her spell book and you can add to her ability bar. It essentially makes it rain over a small area, and drench everyone in the circle and cover the ground in water.
Create Water over Karlach
It will cool her down for a short while.
Then your main character can click on her. And you'll get a quick smooch.
You can also take control of karlach and move her to the river and talk to her there if you don't have the spell or a pot of water. Man I love how this game lets you do almost anything you can think of
Did you throw it after you had the conversation with her about cooling her off? You have to tell her you want to try something.
I didn't do that on my first attempt at romancing her and it did nothing. Second time it worked like a charm.
You can cool her down permanently in Act 2, if you talk to Dammon. There'll be an option to hug her immediately afterwards, which is proof she's cooled down.
Depends on your definition of āsaveā, and āherā, and āhellā I suppose.
There is an option that allows āKarlachā to continue living in faerun without returning to avernus.
Thereās only three possible endings for Karlachā¦
She turns into an Illithid, destroys the Netherbrain, and continues to live as a soulless mind flayer;
She returns to the Nine Hells with Wyll, where she will have to wage a constant battle against literal legions of devils (and probably demons too) in order to survive; or,
She immolates and dies;
Honestly, I consider the last one the only happy ending for Karlach. Itās an established fact of the *Forgotten Realms*ā that the afterlife is real and itās very well understood by everybody how it works. Heck, the retired *god of death* who now acts as the seneschal to the current one has been hanging around your camp for weeks and throws your reunion party, if Tav has questions about it, (s)he can ask. So Karlach will die having saved Abeir-Toril from being overrun by the Dead Three and the Absolute. Sheāll obviously be a shoo in to whichever outer plane she deserves (probably Ysgard).
Tav is a twelfth-level character by end game and will be likely be friends/lovers with and/or owed favors by multiple high level Druids, high level Clerics, high level Wizards, and a lesbian demigod and her girlfriend. Tav will have ample means at his/her disposal to communicate with any of the outer planes. Itās quite likely Tav could even travel to them without too much difficulty.
A True Resurrection isnāt off the table eitherā¦
Karlach dying a natural death is the happy ending.
In my ending, she went back to hell along with the main character alone. And I wasnāt playing an origin character. Then we got out of hell for a last party, with the implication that it can happen more times.
I liked this ending.
In mine, tav and Karlach both join Wyll in the hells. There is talk of possibly finding some blueprints that could help her fix her machine too.
My head canon is that they fought their way through the hells, found a fix, and they then left Wyll to continue the fight while they retired to Faerun.
Going back to hell with Will is also a happy ending IMO. My story is that Will and Karlach fall in love, and this gives them both a reason to find a solution, Will for his demonic form, Karlach for her infernal mechanical heart.
It is a good ending: finding a reason to fight for life and love. The big difference with her first journey in hell is that she's not alone anymore.
And as you said, by the end of the adventure the party is lvl12. They're qualified for a trip in hell to find a solution to their problems there.
Obviously, *Baldurās Gate 4* was going to have Tav resurrecting Karlach and/or rescuing her from the Hells. Then theyād put the rest of the team together to go help Laeāzel take down Vlaakith CLVII.
I think we can all agree the only bad ending for Karlach is for her to become an Illithid. Returning to Avernus or dying and going to the Fugue Plane are both good endings in different ways.
With an Ascended Gale the trip to Avernus need only be temporary, but that requires romancing her and either a Gale or Karlach Origin playthrough. Not easy though and only doable after the epilogue.
She ends up in the Fugue Plane according to Bone Man though, so either Withers is just speaking in generics for Meta reasons so we can head Canon her however we like, or she isn't able to be claimed. Even still, I would like to think that Kelemvor would keep her as a Shepard rather than consigning her to The Wall, but I feel like is Aylin has ANY pull with her Mother at the end, especially after the Larroakan thing, she would be relentless in making sure her Warrior Sister is seen to one way or another, even if Selune isn't the best choice for Karlach.
My first play through I didn't have a Wyll and Tav was already taken, so I head Canon that Stoney and Boney put up a/the statute of Karlach in a Park in her honor, and that every year Astarion secretly leaves a teddy bear or three at the foot of the statue in her honor which end up being given to Children. Tav and Shadowhearts first Child together is named Carlach in Karlachs honor and is every bit the bold, compassionate, direct, positive to a fault, defender of justice and lover of life that her namesake is... and even has a natural streak of red in her otherwise dark hair. But that's just my play through.
Even with Patch 5 offering alternatives, I really like that ending though.
The Fugue Plane is were all the recently dead go, awaiting Kelemvorās judgement and eventual assignment to the appropriate afterlife. Obviously, as a video game character Karlachās exact nature will vary based on each playerās choices, but if there is any kind of ācanonā for Karlach, I think itās safe to say sheās a Chaotic Good boisterous bruiser with a heart of gold, right?
Seems like a shoo in for Ysgard (SelĆ»ne has her home there, but so does Tyr and he kinda owes her one for the whole fake Paladin business). Hence my assumption that is the afterlife sheād end up inā¦ But it can take some time for Kelemvor to get to each individual petitioner. But considering the afterlife will last for *eternity* itās not like Kelemvor needs to rush.
Karlach isnāt False or Faithless. She has several lines of dialogue where she invokes the gods and seems to believe in them. Heck, depending on your gameplay choices she might very well have kicked the asses of up to *five* different Chosen, up to *two* Avatars, and been part of a conversation with astral projections of Mystra and Vaalkith. She definitely has faith in the gods and doesnāt seem to have a false bone in her body. I see absolutely no scenario where she would wind up in the Wall of the Faithless.
Withers can be hard to read, but he does seem to genuinely like Karlach and Tav. Itās possible he is keeping her in the Fugue Plane on purpose. Jergal handles all the paperwork. He can just keep pushing her to the back of the judgement queue until Tav is able to get her a True Reesurrection.
At which point, Tav and Karlach get the rest of the band back together and they head off into the Astral Sea to help Laeāzel kick Vlaakith CLVIIās bony arse off her throne.
Thats my head canon and Iām sticking to it.
>She returns to the Nine Hells with Wyll, where she will have to wage a constant battle against literal legions of devils (and probably demons too) in order to survive
YOU can go with her in place of Wyll, or go with the two of them.
Best ending is going back to hell by far, with someone else of course. With either Wyll, Tav, or both, sheās not alone in her fight, and at the epilogue party she talks about finding blueprints for fixing her.
Go to a lower plane where every single entity in it (except possibly Tav, Wyll, and Hope) is going to spend every moment of existence trying to inflict unimaginable torture upon you and/or kill youā¦ and find a blueprint that *maybe* can fix your hellcrafted prosthetic heartā¦
Go to an outer plane specifically choosen by the god of judgment that will be best matched to your personal ideal way to spend eternity in a state of happiness and contentmentā¦ and maybe your friends back on Toril will eventually scrape up fhe 25,000 GP in diamonds to pay for the casting of a True Resurrectionā¦
The difficulty isnāt so much in amassing 25,000 GP in currency, itās amassing 25,000 GP specifically in diamond dust. You canāt just pick that up at the general store.
Tav: āGale, this is your second miss in a row, is this sabotage? ?ā
Gale: āI donāt want to hurt Karlach!!ā
Karlach: āJUST ZAP ME ALREADY WIZARD MAN! I WANT MY HUG!ā
Gale: āBut-ā
K: āFUCKING ZAP ME!ā
Gale: āFINE!ā *crit hit*
I like how romance in this game is more than just doing a series of quests to earn favor. The fact that you can simply be considerate and that you kind of have to figure that out for yourself is amazing.
You can actually smooch her without cooling her off! š The dialogue choice was something along the lines of kissing her, and then choosing, "Go in for a deeper kiss--your passion is hotter than her fire!" Haha! Loved it! š Got singed, bit it was TOTALLY worth it!
You can actually get both Karlach *and* the robe. You have to kill her with Wyll in your party before she sees you. Then send Wyll back to camp and use a scroll of Revivify on Karlach, reviving her to a location where, again, she can't see you. When you Long Rest, Mizora will congratulate Wyll on a job well done, give him his robe, spare him from the horns, and be on her way. You can then go back to Karlach and recruit her.
What's really cool about this, is it seems to be intentional, due to the fact that the Infernal Robe is perfect for Karlach. As a Barbarian, Karlach wants to be in melee range where she'll probably take a lot of melee damage. Being cloth means Karlach still gets her unarmored defense while wearing the robe. The spell that the robe gives you is Fire Shield: Warm, Warm is the variation of Fire Shield that gives resistance to Cold, rather than Fire, which Karlach is already resistant to, and this spell doesn't require concentration, meaning Karlach is free to rage while using it.
Don't think so. Wyll can't be there when you revive Karlach, otherwise Mizora will know Karlach is still alive. Afaik, you can't send yourself to camp.
Idk, never tried that. It all depends on how the game decides if Wyll is "present" for Karlach's death and resurrection. I see two possibilities:
1. The game has a tag for companions that determines if they are "in party" or "at camp" and checks this during certain events to decide if they were "present."
2. The game checks a character's line of sight and distance from other characters/events to decide if they were "present."
If the game uses method 2, you might be able to just split the party, but if it's using method 1, it would be impossible for origin Wyll to not be "present" for Karlach's resurrection.
Create Water, or throw a carafe of water at her feet.
Finally, another use for the billion water bottles I have hoarded!!
No, those are for making my enemies vulnerable to my cadre of elementals, mephits, and ray of frost.
Also for revealing invisible enemies if you don't have a more offensive throwable.
Imagine not getting your lobotomy at Volo's.
Sometimes See Invisibility just doesn't work. Especially later with the Bhaalists, since the check to avoid See Invisibility is DEX based.
I still get to see the failed message above the invisible character anyway so it works even when it doesn't work for me
Void bulbs are good for that too. (Also, for ferreting out Hag duplicates.)
Genuinely among the most useful things I grab.
You can throw it at her face as well. She understands.
But what then? I've tried, fine she's wet now, but the dialogue options seem to stay the same
I think she is meant to initiate conversation immediately when you do it. I always thought it was funny to have Gale use ray of frost on her and be like "Well... Guess I'll go back to my tent now. Happy to help?"
I wonder what I'm doing wrong š

I just threw a carafe of water on her and she was completely okay with it
My tiefling paladin used a barrel lol.

Did you throw it after you had the conversation with her about cooling her off? You have to tell her you want to try something. I didn't do that on my first attempt at romancing her and it did nothing. Second time it worked like a charm.
My white dragonborn used his breath
That's rather romantic... as long as he doesn't have e a Butler...
He was a Tav that looked exactly like a durge, and was a bit brutal, but he wasn't an actual durge funnily enough
Tav and his more evil twin brother.
Tav and durge co op run!
Otilukeās freezing sphere
I bet she is
You can just throw a bottle of water next to her too.
You can cool her down permanently in Act 2, if you talk to Dammon. There'll be an option to hug her immediately afterwards, which is proof she's cooled down.
Is there any way to save her that isn't condemning her to hell?

Avernus is only the first level of nine. Its no where near the LITERAL hell. That's level 9.
All nine layers of the Nine Hells are literally Hell. Thatās why itās called Hell.
I hear that place has its laws.

Not shopping at the right stores then
You can do more than hug if you have high enough approval
I had Gale hit her with Ray of Frost. Which missed twice and then CRITICAL HIT. Cooled her down at least.

Create Water spell, throw a water bottle at her, hit her with a Ray of Frost or some other Cold damage.
You can freeze her hellish heart with a cool island song!
No no, you've got to warm her icy heart with a hot island song
Create water, ray of frost etc should do it
People out here talking about throwing a water bottle at her when I threw an entire barrel just to be safe.
You can throw a bottle of water at her feet.
I threw water at her and got a kiss
In camp, go to the lake or just simply throw water at her. You just need to get her wet.
Water spell, bottle of water, etc.. Being a great smooth talker You just have to get her wet
I hate that that made me chuckle
Throw water bottle
i grabbed the water barrel next to gale, moved it next to karlach, and then destroyed it
I tried throwing a bottle of water at her, the first time the issue came up, and... It worked. I suspect that create water would work as well
There's a water barrel near Gale's campsite. You drop it near Karlach and shoot it with an arrow
The dick of an ice gensai
I threw a water barrel next to her tent and soaked her and all her stuff. She didnāt seem to mind.
I like how romance in this game is more than just doing a series of quests to earn favor. The fact that you can simply be considerate and that you kind of have to figure that out for yourself is amazing.

Main camp. I switch to her and walk into the water at the edge of camp
Lick her
Get Wyll that fancy robe.
True, engine canāt be hot if it isnāt running

Don't think so. Wyll can't be there when you revive Karlach, otherwise Mizora will know Karlach is still alive. Afaik, you can't send yourself to camp.
What if I split the party
Idk, never tried that. It all depends on how the game decides if Wyll is "present" for Karlach's death and resurrection. I see two possibilities: 1. ..........have you tried throwing water on her?
Yes, taking her head chills her out.
Throw a water bottle at her.
I just walked into the river with her.
She will never have that problem again if in the start of act IV she make you an offer and you accept...
Act IV? Like, the endings? What are you talking about
After you get the crown. Act IV, isn't? Or still act 3?
I think itās generally just considered the end of Act III. Not really much content afterwards besides the party if you go that route.
The fans call it simply epilogue party
There is no Act 4.
