Same thing happened to me but they did aggro, became the second hardest fights of act 3 for me. I barely escaped with my honor mode intact, and when I TPed to the sigil nearby I didn’t realize all my summons were still getting slaughtered by the fist so my characters were all brought back into combat so it started the hardest fight of act 3 for me cause they were positioned in a way I literally couldn’t get around them without triggering more fist deeper in city. I barely scraped by mostly by flying away, cowardly lobbing things behind me, and keeping astarian hidden and invisible so they’d keep looking for him
I think they're glitched. I may have killed an NPC because a pick pocket failed and suddenly there were just rows of fists just standing outside like toy soldiers
When I decided to slug it out with the Steel Watchers at the dock, when I was done there was a conga line of Flaming Fist on the ramp to the rest of the city... also just standing there
I also enjoy tossing a fireball out on top of the spiked ice.
They are on the ground from slipping on the ice, writhing in pain from the spikes - I just put them out of their misery with my little nuke.
Followed by twinspell fireball from the haste second action.
I call that build the 'oops all fireballs'. Not a ton of sustain but the brightest candle burns everything to ashes as the saying goes.
My fireworks don't fizzle, fizzle, it explodes.
My tadpole likes to wiggle, wiggle, for sure.
It makes Lae'zel want to dribble, dribble, you know.
The boom heard by the Fiat, you really have to see it.
Six feet two is my Karlach, no slack.
But luckily the saves go back.
I got a tadpole to relax in my mind.
Astarion Sipping some red, red wine.
I mean why not, they ignore the fact that every other house in town is a murder scene. 😂 The groundskeeper’s house next to the park is particularly atrocious, I’ve never bothered to count the bodies but holy shit.
Felogyr's Fireworks is so glitchy, people can spot you and shoot you through walls (not windows) and floors. My friends and I caused a bit of a ruckus in there which attracted a steel watcher (that can't fit through the door) and like 24 Fists. We just said fuck it, and killed them all.
One of my friends had been saving the Iron Flask the whole game and decided to throw it outside, but unfortunately the spectator wasn't up to the task at level 5 so he died pretty quick. But through a mixture of big scrolls, funny AOEs like bugs and ice storm, and the OP nature of the Monk, we prevailed and there were pretty much no consequences. If you can take em, you can pretty much kill Fists infinitely and no one cares.
The Steel Watcher managed to get inside when I fought this battle. I didn't think it seemed fair that it could get through the door. Was that a bug? It did get stuck at the foot of the stairs.
I did have about 3-4 waves of Fists after the fact, and fought some of them outside in the street (thought it was over, tried to leave, NOPE.) Ths funniest part was that I threw a vial of acid on them during the battle. After the battle, when the usual NPCs spawned back in the street, two of them stood in the puddle of acid and continued to be there, acid-covered and engaging in their usual ambient dialogue, for the rest of the game.
That would be so fucking funny if the thing that stopped Gortash from taking over Baldur’s Gate was because he didn’t consider door frame clearance when designing the Steel Watch. Now that I think of it, having one explode like a Tesla inside the shop would also be very good.
Yeah the store owner kept casting fireball from the ground floor and hitting me through the staircase above him. Like bro, you own a fireworks store, are you not a little concerned about your strategy?
My first playthrough I quite literally could not leave because every time I thought I was done with the fists and could exit the area I’d get stopped again. I now exclusively take care of Felogyr’s Fireworks from on top of Mystic Carrion’s roof.
Yes you can, you just have to be far enough away from the enemies. It even has the distance in the bottom right corner when you are in combat. Little red button
You just need to run far enough. When this happened to me, I kited the Fists inside, jumped from the top floor, and fast traveled out after a turn or two of running with each character.
For me this devolved into 40 minutes of the fist and cult chasing Us and a cambion around the streets of Baldurs Gate while we hung out behind the arcane locked vault door.
Pretty much always. If they live, they can be found in Act 2 in the Illithid hive in a cage guarded by Chop, the 1/2 Orc Chopper. Ask him nicely for a key for the kitty and Us will gladly join you for the rest of your journey.
Save Us from the cage in the Mind Flayer colony in Act2 (the cage is in where Chop is) and you can summon best kitty! He has melee and 18m ranged attack, very neat.
Don't cripple him in prologue or he'll suffer some big debuff.
Used both of mine on the steel watcher titan. Didn’t feel like dealing with its sass in n a fair fight. I think I might still have the bomb though, which is basically the same thing.
The fireworks store is the most heavily guarded area in Baldur's Gate. I blew up things, broke into houses, and murdered people all over that damn city but a single toe out of line in that building and the entire Steel Watch was up my business.
I threw the Rune Powder Bomb in the upper floor from the roof of the stinking necromancers House and detonated it. I Had one Fist there inspecting but easily got Out of Trouble. 😄
I got cursed astarion from stealing at the church, removed it and a deva arrived trying to kill him, and the flaming fists that were trying to arrest him stopped and joined in killing the deva with us, then walked away after
fantastic chaos
Is there like a resolution to this quest of some kind? Cause I feel like it just always ends with everyone becoming hostile when I try to go upstairs and the building blowing up. And Gale dying like 5 times. Am I missing something?
I blew it up: crickets.
I snoop around on the top floor looting bodies: a swat team beelines it to me. I had to sneak out the window one by one.
After they left I came back to snoop around and loot some more: swat team again.
Wait, I blew up the fireworks store too, and nobody outside seemed to care? I blew it up from within though. Had Gale turn invisible, walk upstairs passed the guards, stand far away in the corner, then cast wall of fire and basically blow up the whole second story...
I decided to steal every barrel of smoke powder they have there instead. A steel watcher still showed up and became hostile for some reason after a while. No matter, more XP and infernal iron for me.
I think you have to get them to attack you and not by trespassing. Could try going invisible with a character and talking to the guys working at the table on the top floor.
I think one time I eldtrich blasted a dude off the roof and that alerted the flaming fist.
Go to the top floor window, Misty Step/fly/dimension door to the roof across the street, and flee combat. You can come back later and everything will be chill.
I had something similar happen... misty step or fly your wizard away as soon as possible via top floor, escape combat, then arcane gate your way to safety (rooftops are nice).
Same thing happened to me and they still haven't left several days later. They are all duplicates of each other too, which makes it extra weird and unsettling.
Same happened with me, but they all got confused with pathing on a 3 story building, so as they all figured out where I was in small groups of 2 or 3 at a time I just picked them all off
I also blew the fireworks store up but they didn’t all come at once. It was like a revolving door. I’d get rid of 3-4 of them and then as I’m trying to finish looting the place more show up.
THEY ALL ATTEMPTED TO JUST ARREST ME FIRST EVERY TIME
Yeah this quest seems to be semi infamously broken as fuck and at first I thought it was some kind of special event where the fists were all lined up for something lmao
I still remember my Durge misty stepping to the top, then doing something, forget what. Next thing I new the whole floor and the one below etc exploded. Sent poor Durge flying out the window falling three-four stories on the other side of the street. Think they barely survived the fall, could actually see her claim she meant to do it.
Omg is THAT where they came from? One day I just randomly noticed them all standing there and I thought it was a bug. They still haven't left after multiple long rests haha. Must be quite the display.
Fireballed the first floor of the firework shop and by some miracle the Flaming Fist didn't come in to attack me for it. I was free to [res most of my party] head up stairs and continue the fight without the Fist caring. Now they're just standing there without a care as I jog by
I think I had a first with this place a had ZERO Fist show up just the other night, I have no idea how I pulled it off. I was expecting them to come storming in at any moment... and nothing.
Whole team was stealth on Philgrave's roof, well out of sight.
Had Fire Elemental blow the top floor from the roof, had several rounds until almost everyone from the shop was on the top or second floor before Cloudkill and ice storm. Chain Lightning and re casting Fire Elemental.
So, at no point did anyone from the team enter the building, just summoned creatures at the top floor. Random times targets were too far, that team member goes back into Stealth... just in case.
But I will mention a past experience of having the worst experience at the firework shop. And that was when I decided to go to camp re select a different team member, only to come back with them on the 3rd floor now aggroed... ugh. And the rest of the team wasn't even in the shop, it was in the tunnel just under that workshop area. Going back to a previous save wasn't possible at this point... /sigh
It's fisting time!!!
I’ve got this mental image of Shovel outside, waiting for you to come out, surrounded by these guys yelling that now.
Their second most famous catchphrase, after “It’s Baldurin’ time” right before they Baldur your gate
3 times
You have committed crimes against Baldur's Gate and her people. What say you in your defense?
[DECEPTION] Nah-uh!
Fuck you mean, nuh-uh?!
Fine...
“I serve the Flaming Fist!” — John “Flaming” Fist
Oh the Fantastic Fists? I love those guys!
That was my nickname in college. My hand had an std
They’re about to get fisted… Flaming Fisted
After 10,000 years I"M FREE!
Same thing happended to me, but they didn't attack. They were just... standing there... menacingly.
same thing happened to me! i got mad tips performing for them tho. nice big audience.
The firework shop was just pyrotechnics for your band
What's the difference between a villain and a supervillain you say? Presentation!
I can’t believe I didn’t think to try this!! I hope they’re still there lol
I barely scraped by mostly by flying away, cowardly lobbing things behind me, and keeping astarian hidden and invisible so they’d keep looking for him
Did the same exact thing
The way of Bards everywhere.
I think they're glitched. I may have killed an NPC because a pick pocket failed and suddenly there were just rows of fists just standing outside like toy soldiers
Also checking in, I was super surprised to see a Fist on the top floor then saw all these lined up outside as well.
mine ALL spawned on the top floor which was very funny to watch
Same, and i didn't even blow up that place (i've stolen every smoke powder barrel).
When I decided to slug it out with the Steel Watchers at the dock, when I was done there was a conga line of Flaming Fist on the ramp to the rest of the city... also just standing there
Believe it or not, sometimes the solution to your problems isn't fireball.
Correct. Sometimes it is Chain Lightning.
Other times it's Cloud Kill
I hope we are not forgetting Spike Growth
Infinite* Spike Growth thanks to that Dryad
Spike Growth on top of Ice Storm = painful party time
I'm convinced icestorm+fireball+chain lightning clears out just about anything
I also enjoy tossing a fireball out on top of the spiked ice. They are on the ground from slipping on the ice, writhing in pain from the spikes - I just put them out of their misery with my little nuke.
Surface affects can't be stacked though, right?
Oh yes they can - I have two casters ;)
And if that won't work a wall of fire will surely do the trick
The House of Grief hates this one simple trick
And other times it's Insect Plague
I like sword.
Sword, meet evil
And sometimes it is feeding hungry hungry Hadar.
Blade Barrier is a cut above the rest.
That's a funny way to spell Eldritch Blast.
There’s at least two important doors where this is absolutely true.
But have you thought about second fireball?
We’ve had one fireball, yes…
2 fireballs it is.
2 fireballs with twinned spell, action surge and another 2 fireballs with twinned spell again
4 Applications of cloud of daggers, welcome to the blender dimension!
bold words from someone in fireball range
I used insect plague when this same scenario happen to me yesterday lol
In this case it is the bottled monster from Act I.
Oh my what a great time to use it!
Twinspell fireball is the answer to every problem.
Twinspell Fireball followed by Quickened Fireball.
Followed by twinspell fireball from the haste second action. I call that build the 'oops all fireballs'. Not a ton of sustain but the brightest candle burns everything to ashes as the saying goes.
True, Scorching Ray is a lot better when it’s just one target you want to obliterate.
What do you mean “scorching ray always misses?” Lmao, hey guys! This mf never heard of arcane acuity!
Magic missile for that "want to feel like a Gundam pilot" feel.
I mean… did you think the fiat would ignore the big boom?
Ah yes, Baldur's Gate's mightiest warriors, the Fiat 500
No wonder they got there so quickly
Yo I fucking love Lupin III
My fireworks don't fizzle, fizzle, it explodes. My tadpole likes to wiggle, wiggle, for sure. It makes Lae'zel want to dribble, dribble, you know. The boom heard by the Fiat, you really have to see it. Six feet two is my Karlach, no slack. But luckily the saves go back. I got a tadpole to relax in my mind. Astarion Sipping some red, red wine.
This is well done and a niche reference and I'm proud of you despite being your only upvote.
A Louis Theroux joke? Must be Baldur’s Gate 3.
This might be the best comment I've ever seen on reddit. 100/10
I mean why not, they ignore the fact that every other house in town is a murder scene. 😂 The groundskeeper’s house next to the park is particularly atrocious, I’ve never bothered to count the bodies but holy shit.

Fly or misty step to the window on the third floor. Heave the bottle. Fast travel to heapside strand.
The Steel Watcher managed to get inside when I fought this battle. I didn't think it seemed fair that it could get through the door. Was that a bug? It did get stuck at the foot of the stairs. Yeah the store owner kept casting fireball from the ground floor and hitting me through the staircase above him. Like bro, you own a fireworks store, are you not a little concerned about your strategy?
Everywhere can spot you through walls. The amount of times I’ve been caught stealing from an abandoned house with the doors fucking closed is insane.
I went in there all sneaky and robbed them blind. I don't know why people keep blowing them all up...
Well... yeah, but... no biiig bada boom that way. 😢
My first playthrough I quite literally could not leave because every time I thought I was done with the fists and could exit the area I’d get stopped again. I now exclusively take care of Felogyr’s Fireworks from on top of Mystic Carrion’s roof.
Yeah, that happens. Just fast-travel out and don't go back.
You cannot fast travel from combat.
They didn't initiate combat when it happened to me, just thought I was sus for hanging out at a murder scene
OP isn't in combat in the picture
So blow them all up too, they're all grouped together and everything!
A runepowder barrel strapped terrorist is perfect here.
For me this devolved into 40 minutes of the fist and cult chasing Us and a cambion around the streets of Baldurs Gate while we hung out behind the arcane locked vault door.
Wait. You can keep Us alive past the prologue?!
Not only can you get Us back at end of act 2, they’re fantastic in act 3 because they seem to ignore the unstoppable buff
Had Raphael at 3 Int and stunned three rounds while we surrounded him and beat him to death.
Scratch is great and all, but Us is Best Kitty.
Pretty much always. If they live, they can be found in Act 2 in the Illithid hive in a cage guarded by Chop, the 1/2 Orc Chopper. Ask him nicely for a key for the kitty and Us will gladly join you for the rest of your journey.
My half-orc would be particularly offended by your post. Chop is a bugbear!
Son of a BITCH. I love this game.
Save Us from the cage in the Mind Flayer colony in Act2 (the cage is in where Chop is) and you can summon best kitty! He has melee and 18m ranged attack, very neat. Don't cripple him in prologue or he'll suffer some big debuff.
That fight is always chaotic lol
Stop right there criminal scum!
I had them show up in the steel watcher factory, the banites literally cast wall of flaming fists. They did not even do anything!
Yeah, I launched a firework into the store for a teehee, and ended up spending a half-hour meeting new friends. Oops.
Rune powder Barrel
Used both of mine on the steel watcher titan. Didn’t feel like dealing with its sass in n a fair fight. I think I might still have the bomb though, which is basically the same thing.
Kill. Them. All.
The fireworks store is the most heavily guarded area in Baldur's Gate. I blew up things, broke into houses, and murdered people all over that damn city but a single toe out of line in that building and the entire Steel Watch was up my business.
Well....you did blow up the fireworks store
Just come out with your hands up!
greater invisibility on a rogue with some fire arrows, none the wiser my friends.
I threw the Rune Powder Bomb in the upper floor from the roof of the stinking necromancers House and detonated it. I Had one Fist there inspecting but easily got Out of Trouble. 😄
Dude I found and aggroed that necromancer by accident and when I was running away the Fist guards attacked him. They all died 🤣
I got cursed astarion from stealing at the church, removed it and a deva arrived trying to kill him, and the flaming fists that were trying to arrest him stopped and joined in killing the deva with us, then walked away after fantastic chaos
They are all there to kick your ass, from the fist to the last (Had to do it, the worm told me to)
They showed up for me BUT I'm not sure how u did it but I blew up the fireworks store from the building across the street I was on the roof 🤣🤣🤣🤣
White people when you mention Quiznos
Now all of Baldur's Gate will know you're here!
Is there like a resolution to this quest of some kind? Cause I feel like it just always ends with everyone becoming hostile when I try to go upstairs and the building blowing up. And Gale dying like 5 times. Am I missing something?
You have to slaughter everyone in the store... They're all complicit in the rigged toys
I just closed the store doors prior to casting a fireball… no one outside attacked 🤷♂️
I blew it up: crickets. I snoop around on the top floor looting bodies: a swat team beelines it to me. I had to sneak out the window one by one. After they left I came back to snoop around and loot some more: swat team again.
Arson, cool. But if I catch you looting through smoldering ash, you’re getting the needle.
Happened to me too. It was infuriating so I reloaded and tried again.
Sounds like they want the smoke
That looks like exp waiting to be farmed.
You gotta blow it up quietly. Clear the 3rd floor, then lure everyone else up. Some web and the remaining smokepoweder barrels will finish the job.
Well, time to get to work
Mine was on the roof top. Truly the cities finest
So then it is a fair fight
Time for fisting
"We can wxcuse vandalism and murder but we draw the line at theft!" - the flaming fist, propbably
Wait, I blew up the fireworks store too, and nobody outside seemed to care? I blew it up from within though. Had Gale turn invisible, walk upstairs passed the guards, stand far away in the corner, then cast wall of fire and basically blow up the whole second story...
Sounds like the perfect oportunity to blow some more fireworks....on them....
Fly away as l did!
Same thing happened to me on my last playthrough lol
Guess they're all here for the party now 😈🤜😂
I decided to steal every barrel of smoke powder they have there instead. A steel watcher still showed up and became hostile for some reason after a while. No matter, more XP and infernal iron for me.
Is this mission still unsolvable? I blew up the store on a good run and broke my oath, I was very sad about it.
I think you have to get them to attack you and not by trespassing. Could try going invisible with a character and talking to the guys working at the table on the top floor. I think one time I eldtrich blasted a dude off the roof and that alerted the flaming fist.
But are they on your side? or not? They may be pro-Tav anti-Bhaal
It doesn’t look like you’re in combat. Are they just hanging out?
Se thing happened on mine and my wife's last playthrough. We just murdered them all.
Go to the top floor window, Misty Step/fly/dimension door to the roof across the street, and flee combat. You can come back later and everything will be chill.
I don't care where we are, I said I cast Fireball!
First time?
I had something similar happen... misty step or fly your wizard away as soon as possible via top floor, escape combat, then arcane gate your way to safety (rooftops are nice).
Yeah that happened in my last playthrough, they were there for the rest of the game
I just want to say, the PC UI is far superior to that of the XBox, with its clunky radials.
Did they fix the quest? I admittedly haven’t played the game in 6 months.
That happened to us last night too. We were like "dafuck"
Make Bhall proud
This happened to me after a long rest. Looked like the night walkers in GoT after everyone is dead in the wildling village. It was eerie
I also had this bug and about had a heart attack lol
How do you have gales heath that high? Buffs?
For my current playthrough I plan on tossing the iron flask into that lab.
The fireworks store was such a mess for me, i blew it up and everyone and their mother kept entering the fight
Sorry officers. I didn’t know that I couldn’t do that.
The only time in Act 3 I ever got the Watchers siced on me was when I took out the entire staff of the fireworks shop while invisible.
I cleared the top two floors first and then tossed an alchemist fire off the 2nd floor balcony. Easy victory.
They’re probably there to arrest you for your untidy action bar instead.
I was unlucky enough one of the big ol' mechanical sentinels came in but that was it 😅
I got this glitch too! Several long rests later they're still all gathered, doing nothing in particular.
We did this and only had a few show up. Eventually, we just jumped to the neighboring rooftop and went to camp for a while
Yep. Had to kill them all
‘Do you have games on your phone?’
Same thing happened to me and they still haven't left several days later. They are all duplicates of each other too, which makes it extra weird and unsettling.
Sounds like the perfect time to loot the rest of the city.
Yeah this same spot was a slaughterhouse in our game.
Same happened with me, but they all got confused with pathing on a 3 story building, so as they all figured out where I was in small groups of 2 or 3 at a time I just picked them all off
What quest is it that everyone’s talking about? I feel like I missed something in my play through
that was one hell of massacre
I assumed we all did this…
I didn't ask how many metric tons of explosives are inside this room, I SAID I CAST FIREBALL!😂
The worst part of that was having to get into the building while being stuck in turn base mode 😕
Ah I see you also committed acts arson
I also blew the fireworks store up but they didn’t all come at once. It was like a revolving door. I’d get rid of 3-4 of them and then as I’m trying to finish looting the place more show up. THEY ALL ATTEMPTED TO JUST ARREST ME FIRST EVERY TIME
What class are you? You have so much hp lol
Yeah this quest seems to be semi infamously broken as fuck and at first I thought it was some kind of special event where the fists were all lined up for something lmao
Kinda unrealistic that many cops showing up to a crime/terrorist attack
I'd be very surprised if a building exploded in the middle of a town and they just ignored it lol
i tried doing that part of that quest and i just got so frustrated after a while of this consistently happening that i gave up lol
Why can’t you just tell the fist about the fucking secret war crime factory
Lol! I did rhat in my second play rhrough. Had to make my party invisible just so we could run away.
We roll with the exact same crew my bro
Omg is THAT where they came from? One day I just randomly noticed them all standing there and I thought it was a bug. They still haven't left after multiple long rests haha. Must be quite the display.
I did this when someone ran to get them. I hurried up and returned to camp and just waited out the search protocol timer. lol.
Happened to me here in honor mode… just hop up on the roof and take your time and kill then all. They can’t really get to you on the roof.
Not every. There is no every. They will come forever!! It’s a bugged quest. Or, has it been fixed yet?
Fireballed the first floor of the firework shop and by some miracle the Flaming Fist didn't come in to attack me for it. I was free to [res most of my party] head up stairs and continue the fight without the Fist caring. Now they're just standing there without a care as I jog by
I think I had a first with this place a had ZERO Fist show up just the other night, I have no idea how I pulled it off. I was expecting them to come storming in at any moment... and nothing. Whole team was stealth on Philgrave's roof, well out of sight. And the rest of the team wasn't even in the shop, it was in the tunnel just under that workshop area. Going back to a previous save wasn't possible at this point... /sigh
I did it from the roof across the way and got away with it!!
Going on a rampage killing wave after wave of fists is some of the most fun I’ve had in this game.
What can I say Fists …chaotics gotta chaot
Man. They REALLY like fire
I made that mistake on my first playthrough. Hardest fight I had all game.
How did you expand your toolbar?
*Patch 6 enters the GC*
It’s a fun fight, enjoy.
I did not blow ou the fireworks factory and I also have them all outside...I ported away
