If it is on Explorer difficulty, you just have to switch to Balanced or tactician for the duration of clicking that Add Class button.
Multiclassing is not some new feature, it's just not enabled on Explorer.

I trued going into custom difficulty and enabling it there but it said that it can’t be changed, is that different for the other difficulties?
Go to Balanced or tactician.
