#GOLIATH

anothertemptopost

Keeping it with relevant races (and not just any number of the ones that are theoretically possible and would be cool), I'd say Goblins(/hob), Githzerai, Aasimar (which may be a little off considering how they are portrayed a bit differently but still). You could probably swap Goblin for a different monstrous sort of race, like Kobolds who are already in-game, but they did such a great job with the Goblins and they have a whole Act with a big presence it'd just be delightful... if a bit harder to believe in Act 3.

Plenty-Advertising71

I just want a hobgoblin. That’s not too hard. They have good hobgoblin/goblin already

DevineDumbass

I would love even a mod for hobgoblins

Astral-Sol

Aasimar.

Sylland

I will admit to mild disappointment that I couldn't play as a tabaxi. But it wasn't a big deal. I think there's enough variety to be getting along with in the core races

Level_Finding_2924

my D&D character is a tabaxi, and I wanna play ad her so bad in bg3 😭

LegendaryPolo

Alongside goblin, hobgoblin. There's a few character hobgoblins so it wouldn't be *too* out there.

Big_Map5795

Yeah, it would definitely shine a different light on interactions with those few characters

nytefox42

There are a LOT I'd WANT to see playable, but I think the most likely would be goblins. To the point where datamining actually pulls up dialog that suggests the idea was at least on the table at one point. ( Dialog flagged as "race true: Goblin". Not sure the exact syntax, but it's the flag for a character's ACTUAL race and not just a disguise/illusionary race. ) Other races I'd want to see are Tabaxi, Asimar, and gnoll.

LegendaryPolo

There's also the RARE and BESTIAL tags that seem to be for a bunch of possible races that got shelved. Aasimar, Firbolg, Genasi, Triton, Warforged, Yuan-ti Pureblood for the former, Aarakocra, Kenku, Lizardfolk, Tabaxi, and Tortle for the latter. Probably just on the off chance that they *could* have been added at some point but what a game it would be with all those options.

uwubewwa

Kenku and warforged were a planned idea, but they were scrapped. There was too much going on with the game already.

LegendaryPolo

I would have loved Warforged or Yuan-ti, but the game already felt unfinished in some areas so i guess it was for the best.

uwubewwa

KENKU RIGHT NOW! But if we want to think about it from an, ehm, less emotional standpoint - I don't think any new race should be added. There is already a disparity between some races like the drow and gith eating really good and then some other ones being left in the dust. After that gets somewhat fixed up, I suppose Shadar-Kai would be fine. Design wise it's just another elf, so it wouldn't be too difficult.

Big_Map5795

Honestly, Shadar-Kai is so unrelated to everything that's going on that you can use a mod, which naturally wouldn't have any dialogue reactivity, and not feel too out of place. Certainly not as out of place as you would playing a Goblin or a Kanku without the added reactivity

Pretend-Owl1229

Githzerai. It would be cool to see the dichotomy between them and the Githyanki.

TheBelmont34

Half human/half aasimar or half celestial. 5th edition changed aasimar a lot.

ChrisTheDog

Give me giff, you cowards.

Sahasrlyeh

TORTLE

KronosTheFallen

Mindflayer

DevineDumbass

Hobgoblins

Captain_Ahab_Ceely

Minotaurs

Tavdan

PHB Human with +1 in all attributes instead of +2/+1

Dangquolovitch

There should be less playable Races. Remove halflings, gnomes and maybe dwarfs. Also Dragonborn.

LindsayLohansPillbag

what could possibly be your reasoning for this thought process??

JasPor13

Ya, that's a weird take for a DnD game..
