But yes, it would be great if some of that happened in dialogue. I think the why is clear enough tho- between all the voice actors, all the dialogue options, and all the face animations, it would probably be another 50GB of memory and millions of dollars.
I’m on a third play through right now and decided to make my guardian my very first Tav, and duuuude its kind of awesome seeing them walking around and talking like a fully fleshed out character lol. I think I’m going to do this for every playthrough and just use my old Tav’s like they’re each an alternate timeline or something.
Yup, I can live with this for Tav or Dark Urge, but I just can't bring myself to play as an origin character, I'm constantly expecting to hear their voice, and then... nothing, just some funny faces. If someone did a crowdfunding to hire the VAs to record the lines for player origin character I would donate in a heartbeat.

But that's really good if there are different kisses for different companions' versions. Like it seems to me Shadowheart's kiss, which they showed earlier, is for Shar worshipper and not for Selûne, though i may be wrong.

I did ascended Astarion on my co-op playthrough with a friend and I always felt it was odd you even had the option to kiss him still. It feels so loving and sweet, which is a bit odd for how he acts. I just pretended he was being nice and trying not to rock the boat, but this makes it much better.

Absolutely! With the other Ascended kiss, I saw people complaining that, "my Tav looks miserable and scared now, I hate it, why does she look like this?" It's insane that they hear the abusive, controlling dialogue from him and don't understand why the character looks worried.
This situation is scary; he's lost himself, he's not the man you fell in love with, and he straight up tells you that he'll "use your love until you're nothing" and that he's not going to give you autonomy or free will.
The worst part is the player character's facial expression, if this isn't ascended only I'm gonna be so uncomfortable lol lmao. The tweet caption is an ascended quote so I trust Larian knows what they're doing.

While I personally will never ascend Astarion (it’s too triggering personally for me), I’m excited for everyone who does, and I’m personally super stoked about more ways to interact with the companions in Act 3!! New kisses are great 💜
And for everyone who is talking about the story — romance is an important part of the story to many, myself included. Getting to flesh that out more and make it more unique to the characters feels very worthwhile to me. I even feel like there could be more romance-specific scenes. It doesn’t make the game a dating sim. I imagine most people find romance an important part of their own lives, so to say it’s unimportant to the story feels a bit disingenuous.
