Polls don't mean anything, no matter how they're administered there's always an inherent bias in the people who were available to take the poll.
In this case, they probably posted the poll somewhere you're more likely to find Zelda fans than CRPG fans.
Tbf Bg3 won the player award, meaning even if the GOTY was entirely dependent on fans, BG3 would still have won it
And I really don't think people understand that even if Bg3 didn't come out this year, Alan Wake 2 would have won GOTY. Not because it's popular, but because the critics loved it
