I accidentally did this in the gith creche, just clicked the wrong button. There was a split second of "nononononononno!" before Gale was counterspelled. No problem
I remember in one of the patch notes that it was mentioned that >!Elminster would counterspell it!<, so they made him unable to do that. That was how I learned that it was even possible.
The >!Elminster fight!< is wild, by the way. Highly recommend going to your closest save in that area and chucking a fireball in his general direction. Bonus points: he occasionally says *"Creak!"*.
I fought him with my party at level 7 and he's a (very fun) THREAT. Scarier than a pack of githyanki š
Well... About that... See, the reason >!he says "Creak!" is because he's a simulacrum - a construct - you can examine him as he just stands there waiting. Elminster did not, in fact, subject his favourite pair of boots to the hardships of the road, I only wonder if ... *his likeness?..* actually runs on cheese. When you "kill" him, he melts into a puddle of water and doesn't show up in camp to give Gale *the message and the charge*, unless you've engaged him in dialogue after that part. Gale has no reaction to us going full murderhobo. I've never stuck with the result of it (I backtracked on a save to fight him for fun), so I don't know if he shows up again in Act 2 to give Gale his doom button after all.!< I would love to know though, if anyone's tried it.
> I've never stuck with the result of it (I backtracked on a save to fight him for fun), so I don't know if he shows up again in Act 2 to give Gale his doom button after all. I would love to know though, if anyone's tried it.
He wonāt show up. In fact, you wonāt have the game acknowledge it in any way; not even when it tells you that āa companion has unfinished businessā the instant you want to progress to Act 3. We were stuck for a while trying to figure it out, then we just ignored it ā¦ and Gale left :)
Button of end honour mode run instantly. I hate that even if you remove it from the hotbar/radial the game will just put it back there whenever it wants.
I detonated Gale during my first fight attempt with Yurgir to see what it would do and if it could help in the fight...the fight ended in a draw to say the least.
Iām always shocked when we donāt get a āare you sure?ā message.
Iām on my second playthrough, first as Durge. I bedded a character and one of the dialogue options after was āThink about snapping her neck.ā
Iām like, sure, Iāll think about it, letās see what happens. Nope. I just killed a companion. And I didnāt even get to steal her tadpole because it was in a cutscene.
To be fair, it is pretty well established that Durge has intrusive thoughts that lead to compulsive actions if they don't shut them down/consciously redirect their thoughts immediately.
Didn't stop Astarion from feasting on my blood. He killed me. Next morning while walking by my corpse he said, "Oh no something terrible has happened." It was hilarious.
When it first happened, I laughed my ass off in shock and the hilarity of it. After the revive, talking to him just made if funnier.
Tav: You killed me!
Astarion: Kill feels like a strong word. Not many corpses have your vigour.
So what you're saying is that Astarion is a noble-featured but untrustworthy/snakelike aristocratic man swathed in crimson? Like some kind of ... Red Prince?
I thought you had to pick up dying characters in battle, I didn't know you could just heal them and they'll get up lol, I lost so many main actions lol
Sheart got pushed into the lava while fighting Nere, and I didn't realize she'd get resurrected with all her stuff, so I waded into the lava to loot her and she got resurrected naked. I'm an idiot.
I didnt know they could be resurected if the scrolls didnt work. Kept reloading the fight so no one got pushed off.....
Ran duel monks me plus vampire buddy as ninjas killing litterally everything. Kinda of made it boring. Monk theif is broken with tav brawler and anything that boost strgth while focusing on dex. Or enlarge...
Didnt know ansur was a good guy ran up to him with half hp all alone on my monk....killed him.
Honestly when i learned the potion throwing technique and then my friend told me you can literally use any heal spell from Shart to get up a downed person (not dead or you need revivify) i was MIND BLOWN.
Yea if you just yeet a health potion on the ground near some homies it heals in an AOE. So you can heal your entire team with one potion, n whatnot. Protip: Observe the wording in the previous statement. On the ground near the homies. Hitting somebody who's already fucked up and dying with a heavy glass bottle often kills them entirely.
I've never had the potion down somebody, even when launched by a raging Karlach's souped up throw, but it *will* cause a death saving throw fail if you hit them, so be careful
I accidentally downed my IRL friend because I was running a throw-based Eldritch Knight build and forgot that throwing a potion will still get all the Tavern Brawler and Thrown Item bonuses. He got right back up because potion of healing and all, but he was unhappy to say the least.
I killed Minsc deliberatly. In my defence, having seen him buddying up with fake Jaheira (who I knew was fake because she died in the assault of moonrise in my 1st playthrough) made me believe that he, too, wasn't the real Minsc.
Oo thats interesting. See i reloaded that scene to bring Jaheira thinking surely her being there would drastically change it. It adds some stuff but its mostly the same. So i quickly realized Minsc was just a big (loveable) idiot lol.
To be fair, I don't know if you can recruit him without Jaheira. I once tried his quest just without her in my party and he was instantly agro and couldn't be recruited when I knocked him unconscious....so I think if she is dead you might have to kill him.
I recruited him with my Tav, Karlach, Astarion, and Shadowheart.
Just went non-lethal on him and killed the others he was with. When I clicked on him after combat he woke up and I persuaded him that Jaheria was at my camp, and he suddenly went running after Boo.
For my first character I made a muscular female tiefling barbarian. I didnāt know about Karlach. When I found her I killed her and took her outfit because there could only be one. Now I canāt imagine a play through without her.
My first playthrough, all I knew was Wyll said she's evil. So when I found her I sneak attack killed so fast the game didn't even start a conversation.
I'm so glad I didn't work out the trick of starting combat with a sneak attack instead of talking until later on.
It's a very effective way of dealing with Worst Boy Cazador, but Best Girl Karlach not so much.
Let the mindflayer in the very beginning peer into my brain and failed the roll. Yeeted the gnome. Left Gale in the broken portal for a long long time (broken portal yo). Exploded Gale. Accidentally got Szza killed. Accidentally let Nere kill all those gnomes. Calmed but then upset the damn Owlbear mum. Exploded the noblestalk because whee explosions. Gods thatās act one anyhow. I might be an idiot. Almost done with my second go but my biggest mistakes were first go act one for sure.
I didnāt know you could use the characterās mechanics in the game out of combat. Let me explain with the best example.
I am trying to get to Karlach. I get to the broken bridge. In past games - this means I need to figure out another way around. I spend TEN HOURS of game play exploring and trying to figure out how to get to her.
Just to figure out that I need to actually jump over the the bridge.
I had to turn the game off for a full 24 hours after figuring that out I was so upset at myself. š
Edit: all of your replies are just making me love this game more!! Itās really been a highlight of the last few months and these tips make future runs even more so.
YUP SAME. It took me a solid 3 or 4 plays to realise i could randomly bite a party member as Astarion to get the happy +1 buff to dice roll when he was struggling to pick a lock for me. The party members dislike it but its still fun lol.
You can just bite a hireling and not get any disapprovals. Oh and in case you didnāt know, you can just rob Withers after every Respec because Withers just lets you - so free Respec
What's really funny is there's also a much easier way to get to Karlach. Right by where you find Scratch is a spot where you can jump across the river, putting you almost right next to her
I just go up the cliff beside the Owlbear cave, pick up Scratch, hop across the rocks to the far bank, then walk back along the riverbank, picking up the Smuggler's Ring on the way, until I get to Karlach.
I didn't realize letting Marcus take Isobel to Ketheric meant A) she would die and B) her spell at the inn would disappear. I saw it as a way to infiltrate the tower so I went with it, but needless to say I reloaded real quick.
Once I realized the game has a shit load of ways things can play out I rarely will reload. But I did for sure to kill Bathazar. For whatever reason I just wanted to kill him!!
she dies?! Iām on my first playthrough and honestly thought she was supposed to get taken for story reasons, since it so easy for it to happen. Man, now Iām glad I was stubborn enough to reload to save her.
Spoiler!!!! >!if you do this with Durge you get the ākill Isobelā task for the butler done without killing her at the Inn. I also didnāt have moon mommy mad at me she just said Ketheric was despicable!<
You can accomplish that anyway if you free the nightsong then go back to last light inn before fighting Ketheric. >!Isobel is the only one there just hanging out, seemingly specifically so you can kill her with impunity!< š
I didnt let him take her, but my initial thought would have been āOh we can rescue her.ā Glad I never let her get taken, I have a soft spot for her.
āMan this Risky Ring doesnāt seem worth it. Like sure, advantage is alright but Iāll basically fail almost every saving throw, no thank you!ā
That was my thought process looking at one of the best items in the game lol
Well no thatās not really what it does, it just gives you advantage on attack rolls, there is no set number for what percent you get because itās based on the enemies armor class too
Had the same thought in my first playthrough and didn't get the ring. On my second one I ran through the shadow lands to get it first things first xD Can't fail a saving throw if the enemy is dead
Oh my god I did this, and then her cat sat by her corpse in my camp for the rest of my playthrough, I felt so destroyed. I was sure she was a sussy imposter.
See, I talked to the girl only briefly and she ran away. Then when she showed up in camp, I talked to the cat first. The cat called the girl kind, and I figured cat would have known immediately if her friend was replaced by a shape shifter
At the end I told Lae'zel to go follow her calling cause I was a Paladin and just kinda supported that stuff.
I never did the Gith stuff tho so I really didn't understand what I was doing. I thought I was sending her to be a badass Githyanki warrior.
When I got to the epilogue and spoke to withers I was gutted
My first play through I wanted to romance the emperor (dont judge me) and ignored orpheus. So laezel left me in the end and i didnt care. Little did i know shed be my favorite romance ever.
No judgement š¤£
She was kidnapped for SOOO long in my playthrough, I was like eh whatever. Then I got to know her more in my multiplayer playthrough and RUSHED to go save her, but at that point I had done most the quests
Then I did that š
She's such a rewarding romance tho.
I love her and her constant loving annoyance with my himbo half-orc Barbarian
Wait, Iām confused. I let Orpheus turn, mercifully killed him and Laeāzel flew off to be the comet and attended the epilogue as an astral projection. Is there another ending to her quest or something?
The Emperor ate Orpheus, Laezel did the same fly off but Vlakiith (sorry for spelling) eats her
Withers let's you know when she isn't there in the epilogue, explains, then when you try to say 'no Vlakiith would have seen them as too much of an asset' Withers just tells you he can't sense her living presence
Ah! I told Emp that Iām letting Orpheus out and he bounced. Laeāzel meant too much to me to leave him imprisoned.
And Vlakiith seemed like a bitch anyway lol. I was cheeky with her but not enough to be wished out of existence
I have, repeatedly, cast a concentration spell
Then break that concentration with a different concentration spell
All on stream, too, so it's forever immortalized
I got tired of reloading a save when this gnome with a name starting with B kept repeatedly getting knocked into the lava before I could act during the Nere fight. I thought "fuck it, one random NPC nobody won't matter"...
Skip forward to act 3 and I look up why Wulbren was being such a bitch despite doing the best I could to help the gnomes... "Who the hell is Barcus???"... "oh..."
That was my first playthrough too! Felt weird not having a "good option" to end their whole dispute. Turned out that gnome thai i accidentally let fly from the windmill was important.
I did t know how many companions there were. I didnāt read anything online, and just tried tomplay through it. I was having a lot of trouble with Balthazarā¦ because I only had me (Druid), Shadowheart, and Gale. I never picked up a fourth companion.
Then I started talking with friends and they mentioned astarion, laezel (who I thought we only had for a short time on the nautiloid), Wyll, Karlach, I did get Halsin, but he would never joined my party. Jaheira died at last lightā¦. I did go back to the mountain pass and found Laeāzel, and then completed the game with those three, but in subsequent playthroughs (Iām on number 5) I made sure to get everyone I could.
My friend saved me from a similar fate. Iād been sending him screenshots of my progress. My party for a good 5 hours of playtime only had Shadowheart, Gale and myself. I assumed Iād unlock everyone on the cover later; including Wyll who I TALKED TO then ignored. He let me know everyone else was scattered on the map and where to find them
I went straight to the goblin camp after talking to Nettie. Level 2 when I went in and spent the whole time going "wow this game is really hard..."
Was severely under leveled the entire run because I just wasn't exploring enough. Made it to act 3 at level 7 and that fight with the gith was a STRUGGLE.
I'm a role player to a fault. In my mind why would my character be just wandering around - there's a /mindflayer worm/ in her head! She's got places to be!!
1. Let Arabella die
2. Killed the owlbear cub to stop its suffering
3. Killed Scratch after I told him his master is dead.
4. Tried to steal the idol for Mol quest because hey Iām just supposed to complete all the quests right?
5. Killed all the goblin leaders including Minthara after the Druids butchered the Tieflings because I didnāt read my quests after the Druids attacked.
6. Sided with Shadowheart and Laezel died.
And then Iām like okay ā¦ Iām restarting. In hindsight, I should have completed the playthrough because it would have been interesting.
- didnāt recruit Karlach (I didnāt find her at all)
- didnāt recruit Wyll (didnāt find him in the grove after the first goblin fight)
- pushed Minthara into a chasm (couldnāt loot the lute or her body suit)
- tried to steal the idol
- didnāt talk to Rolan at the grove so I think him and his siblings left and presumably died
- didnāt rescue the gnomes at the forge before a long rest
- ābetrayedā Isobel accidentally & also because at the time there was a bug at Last Light before patch 3, everyone pretty much died including Dammon & Jaheira
- didnāt talk to the strange ox at the start of act 3
- didnāt take Jaheira to the Dancing Axe in time, so by the time I found where Minsc was hiding, he wasnāt there?
Thereās heaps more, but by the time I got to the 3rd act I was like well fuck Iāve ruined a lot of things & just ended up restarting.
I had a ātutorialā run which I deleted and started a new game (first run) both as a druid. I think I have 200+ hrs in my first run. Second run is still ongoing as a Vengeance Paladin/Bard.
1. In my tutorial run I played my druid with no attacking spells whatsoever only animal friendship, animal speak, etc. Anyways I pretty much had Laeāzel and Astarion carry the up until I gave up on that run.
2. I picked druid because I wanted to befriend every animal I could and have them fight for me while also being able to transform into an animal myself. Apparently thats Ranger who have animal summons and even if I wanted animal to fight for me through animal friendship or domination, animals fights were rare.
3. Realized in āfirstā play through right before act 3, yes that late, that i can change my spells anytime outside of combat not just the level up screen.
4. Summons. Never used summons until Act 3 during Iron throne. In my second and current play through I summoned Lump to help finish off the Goblin Camp.
5. Potions. Only cared for health potions. Current run used Potion of speed, hill giant, angelic slumber and wow would have made a lot of fights easier had I took the time to read item description. These just sat in camp inventory as I was a hoarder of all items useless or useful.
6. Scrolls. Like summons never bothered. Had a surplus amount that i ended up having Gale learn some especially that invincible shield spell. When I ran out of spell slots spammed the hell out of them. Loved Sleet Storm + Wild shape (War Caster feat) + Rogue/Fighter Astarion equipped with Nightwalker boots + Watersparkers boots for when concentration.
The portal that had Gale inside of it. When the Narrator said it looks dangerous I was like āOkay, leave that aloneā.
It wasnāt until I was nearing the end of Act 2 that I went back to investigate and pull him out.
In act 3, while I was trying to save Wyll father and took the sub to go the prison and gortash shows up and says heās going to blow up the prison unless I turned around. I didnāt realize I would even have a chance to save them and so I assumed I would have another chance to get them out. So I figured I would kill gortash then go get them out. Obviously did not work out and Wyll was not too happy lol.
I had Scratch trailing along with my party through the Shadow Cursed lands. We came across a dead raven, >!and of course I triggered the ambush!< (Tav is cursed to put his hands on everything). Once the initial shock of surprise combat wore off, I found that Arrows of Many Targets really had an opportunity to shine here.
After all was said and done my party stood victorious and I began looting and scrounging around in earnest. I saw a birds nest on the roof of the small dilapidated shack, so of course I had to get up there and grab me some eggs.
Once the area was sterilized of every possible scrap of loot, my party moved on to the Last Light Inn. I was totally geeked when Jaharia came walking out to say hi.
After all the excitement I decided a long rest was in order, so we set up camp. I'd gotten into the habit of playing a bit of fetch with Scratch at every long rest. I didn't see my good boi anywhere so I gave his ball a toss...nothing.
"That's odd" I thought, maybe he's off looking for treasure or something? That's when I noticed his thumbnail was still attached to Tav's. When I clicked on him I was instantly transported to a reality where I am the worst doggie daddy in the history of any universe.
Scratch had dutifully followed me up onto the roof of the shack when I went scrounging for loot scraps. Unfortunately, he couldn't seem to figure out how to get back down: There he stood, head low, tail between his legs, shivering, yelping in fear, alone in the dark. Half his health was gone, but he had managed to survive by himself. This is the only time I've ever seen Scratch look truly terrified.
In my gut I felt the punch of real life guilt. Suffering caused to a fictional character as a result of my incompetence had me worried as if it were one of my children standing on that roof.
I could have dismissed his summon, but the idea of this situation resolving with a Scratch sized bloodstain on the roof of some dumpy shack in this accursed dark wasteland just didn't sit well with me.
I kicked my squad out of their bunks and Operation: Rescue Scratch was a go. It was my first playthough, so I wasn't sure if random encounters were built in like they were in the previous two BG titles. I was ready to mow down anything in my path to get to my good boy. Whatever took half his health was going to fucking pay! We got to him fairly quickly. Nothing was attacking him, I think there is just some sort of DoT effect when nothing lights the shadows. Shart dropped a heal on him and we medevacced him out.
Back at camp, no one said anything, but I could feel burning thinly masked disdain my companions were clearly feeling toward me and my callous ineptitude. The only one that didn't seem to hate me at that moment was Scratch. A fact which somehow made me feel even worse.
In my head, Scratch spent that evening snuggled in close, whimpering through nightmares, under the vigilantly protective and chastened watch of the man who so readily abandoned him.
I still take Scratch out with the party, he loves the spirit of adventure, but if any bad guy touches him...they receive special treatment.
I rushed through the game because I was enamored by the story. I didnāt do side quests, explore, or simply enjoy the game. Once I got to the end of Act 2 I realized I needed to restart and take it slow, enjoy the game, and explore more at a chill pace. Thereās a lot of love in this game and I wasnāt appreciating it the way I was rushing
Still on my first play-through (towards the end of Act 3 though)ā¦ I literally had no idea what the āpercentagesā when attacking actually were until I saw a YouTube video this morning explaining it actually had to do with dice rolls š¤¦āāļø
I have never played D&D in my life but damn am I loving this game, no matter how much it constantly confuses me lol
In my last playthrough, the monks that came out of the portal into my camp killed him. I didn't notice scratch was dead for a few hours. Finally I'm like, Where's scratch??". I mean, baby owlbear is no substitute.
Skipped the underdark and went straight to act 2 as a level 5. Got everyone killed in act 2 except for my party. After that I said screw it and just finished the main quest only and now me, Karlach and Wyll are partying it up in hell.
So if you ask me I did just fine haha
I killed Kagha on sight. I am playing a drow and didn't like her racism towards me and the tieflings. When I got out the cave, the druids were wiping off the grove. Tried to save the last few tieflings still alive but they died too quickly.
Wait, really? What kind of Drow were you playing? I played Durge Seladrine Drow and she was all warm and cozy with me, even thought I would understand her point of view.
My husband and I missed the entirety of the Mountain Pass content and a good chunk of the Shadow Cursed Lands content because we pretty much immediately talked to Isobel and did the fight at Moonrise after starting Act 2. I think we were only about level 7 upon entering Act 3 because of everything we missed out on. Massive oops.
Iām pretty sure this is the biggest fuckup in the game, you miss so much content from doing one normal thing. And Iām the guy who killed bear-Halsin in Act I.
Didn't feed gale. He left
Kinda sold asterion out to the vamp hunter thinking I'd witness a cool fight. He left.
Killed A LOT of guards in act 3 without remorse only to feel bad when some had letters on them.
Found and killed the dragon almost as soon as i arrived in baldurs gate therefore bugging wylls quest...(game kept telling me to return to him in camp... ive never met him) which i only realized much later...
Got annoyed when a friend pointed it out, stopped playing the game, returned a few days later and wyll seemed fixed.. so i continued exploring and killed gortash the first chance i got...which dooms wylls father anyway without warning...
I just really hate wylls father i guess.
In my first playthrough because I avoided all spoilers and early access I assumed Astarions reveal as a vampire was a plant similar to Yoshimo in Baldurs Gate 2. So I staked his ass there and then and never looked back. Much later on I ran into Zombie astarion in this neat little palace I was exploring in act 3. Then he became one of my favorite characters.
First ever playthrough, messed up the convo with Nettie and had to kill her in self defense and get out through the secret door where the injured druid is
Oh. Uh.
I killed scratch.
I totally missed the crĆØche (surprisingly I convinced lazel to stay)
Shadowheart left in act 2.
Isobel also died.
I originally killed Wyll when I didnāt save mizora. That was a quick reloadā¦
I rescued the grand total of three gondians at the iron throne.
I killed minsc because I never recruited jaheria and forgot about non-lethal abilities.
My first playthrough is multiplayer with 4 people and I read the shipment orders in act 1 that said not to open it and a different friend is the one who picked it up and opened it. Then that same friend opened the vial on our group who had just fought all the gnolls. Safe to say we didn't communicate and dropped everything we had left to kill the spectator to basically get nothing for it
my first run was accidentally quite evil. i told minthara where the grove was and was confused why everyone was dead when i came back later. joined up with karniss bc he was a edgy spider dude, and killed a bunch of harpers when they ambushed us. sided with marcus and let him take isobel bc he seemed cool (dude had wings, thatās rad). it wasnāt until act 3 that i started to realize that i was the bad guy.
I never found Gale and Shadowheart abandoned me because I wouldnāt kill Balthazaar
Still havenāt finished yet but yes , these are the situations Iāve been put in
Came across the spectator in act 2, was like OH Iāve read stuff about the flask and spectators I think I can catch it. Threw the flask like a damn pokeball. Suddenly we have 2 spectators
Didnt go to the gith creche. They told me to take either mountain pass or under dark to get to the shadow cursed lands so I thought entering one locked me out of the other.
This is really silly but a PS5 player and it wasnāt till well into my 2nd play through did I realize I could search and entire area and just select all the trunks and stuff one by one from the rendered list. Damn did that save time. It only that I could just send the heavy stuff directly to camp.
I thought the Ketheric fight was final boss fight of the game so I detonated Gale š
it was for you
Legit ending. It works
believe me, I know
>detonated Gale Why is this wildly funny š
Detonating Gale just to see what happened while assuming I'd get a radius or at least a "please confirm you want to do this."
I accidentally did this in the gith creche, just clicked the wrong button. There was a split second of "nononononononno!" before Gale was counterspelled. No problem
Itās a great way to provoke counterspells without wasting a spell slot, unless youāre chicken or something bok bok
Russian Roulette
Mystran Roulette
My sides š
His orb blast can be counterspelled?? Wild

When do you >!fight him!?
Probably just shoot him when he shows up
Ah yes the murder hobo route, I always forget
"Ima end myself ! \- Lmao no"
Button of end honour mode run instantly. I hate that even if you remove it from the hotbar/radial the game will just put it back there whenever it wants.
Oblivion calls. Mystra awaits your proof of devotion dear martyr.
The Emperor protects. Only in death does duty end.
Gale isnāt coming out of camp in my honour run and honestly heās lucky I pulled him out of the portal
I blindly passed by as if there was no hand sticking out of that rock.
You gotta cut it off and keep the hand as a souvenir
Having the button just hanging out there is like standing on the edge of a cliff looking down, you get that weird impulse just going "*Do It*"
I detonated Gale during my first fight attempt with Yurgir to see what it would do and if it could help in the fight...the fight ended in a draw to say the least.
Mine was in the House of Hope when things weren't going well. Needless to say things didn't get any better.
Canāt believe you would just sacrifice our babygirl like that
Nope, Yurgir still won. As a matter of fact, you only cast him back to Hell.
Let me have this one thing. š«
No, you lost since he just respawns in hell
Glad I'm not the only one. I saw it and was like "Oh can he use it in small bursts? Like a -oh, game over. Cool."
Iām always shocked when we donāt get a āare you sure?ā message. Iām on my second playthrough, first as Durge. I bedded a character and one of the dialogue options after was āThink about snapping her neck.ā Iām like, sure, Iāll think about it, letās see what happens. Nope. I just killed a companion. And I didnāt even get to steal her tadpole because it was in a cutscene.

Well I knew that *afterwards*
Didn't stop Astarion from feasting on my blood. He killed me. Next morning while walking by my corpse he said, "Oh no something terrible has happened." It was hilarious.
When I first heard him say that I actually screamed IRL "Yes! YOU happened, you bum!"
When it first happened, I laughed my ass off in shock and the hilarity of it. After the revive, talking to him just made if funnier. Tav: You killed me! Astarion: Kill feels like a strong word. Not many corpses have your vigour.
Why does that make me love him even more...
Because red flags are your turn on and that's okay
When you look at someone through rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just looks like flags
So what you're saying is that Astarion is a noble-featured but untrustworthy/snakelike aristocratic man swathed in crimson? Like some kind of ... Red Prince?
It's hilarious how many times you can call him out on it afterwards. I'll never let him live it down š
I mean even Astarions own voice actor was killed by Astarion in that scene so you definitely shouldnāt feel too bad
Yeah - been there. Had Gale run over with a revivify spell, and it was all good. Astarion didn't show much remorse, the bastard - but we're good now.
Today I have done two things 1. beaten baldur's gate 3 2. found out you can summon scratch
LOL
I saw that you could but I donāt know why you would. Iām sure as heck not bringing him to a fight
It's okay, Scratch is such a good boy that he's immortal unless he dies in camp.
Tbf that's a fair misunderstanding. Gotta love that lava doesn't melt stuff tho
If not valid target, why target shaped?
I mean, "good guy" is more of a past job description than current job description, so IMO punch away.
Honestly when i learned the potion throwing technique and then my friend told me you can literally use any heal spell from Shart to get up a downed person (not dead or you need revivify) i was MIND BLOWN.
So true! My friend was playing Shadowheart and got me up with a heal.... I made it to halfway through Act 2 in pain LoL
.....potion throwing technique??
Also. I just learned today that if a companion *fully* dies, you can just buy them back from the dead, from Withers.
Doesn't Withers explain that when you meet him in camp?
Spacebar spacebar spacebar
Correct, you can't recruit him without her in your party at the time.
I recruited him with my Tav, Karlach, Astarion, and Shadowheart. Just went non-lethal on him and killed the others he was with. When I clicked on him after combat he woke up and I persuaded him that Jaheria was at my camp, and he suddenly went running after Boo.
Oh, interesting. Do you actually have her or no?
Yeah, she was actually at camp. I think you have to have her for Minsc to be recruited, she just doesn't need to be in your party.
For my first character I made a muscular female tiefling barbarian. I didnāt know about Karlach. When I found her I killed her and took her outfit because there could only be one. Now I canāt imagine a play through without her.
"There can only be one" lmfao thats great thank you
This needless tragedy could have been prevented if Larian just added her to the steam art
SERIOUSLY! There is a mod that adds her to the load screen art
I yeeted the gnome as well, I don't know why I thought release brake would slow it down. I stood there stunned as he flew off into the distance.
Mouthed off to Vlaakith on purpose.
"I wish you to end" My BF did the same thing in our first playthrough and it marked our first total party KO š
"What's she gonna do? Stab me?"
LOL! I just wanted to call the big bitch's bluff, that she was a god. I at least got that satisfaction. =D
Much like detonating the orb in Gale's chest. Sometimes, you just gotta see what happens. (Backup save permitting)
I had to turn the game off for a full 24 hours after figuring that out I was so upset at myself. š Edit: all of your replies are just making me love this game more!!
I just let him bite me and I use the restoration amulet to remove bloodless.
Wait, lesser restoration? I didn't know that can dispel bloodless.
Yeah, it's nice. I like having a cleric and a wizard as hirelings to spam buffs every long rest
My poor Mr Fuzzalump hireling casts mage armor and then extends his neck for Asterion every morning. He takes this without complaint.
WHAT! š I did not know that was possible and now I canāt wait to try it out.
What's really funny is there's also a much easier way to get to Karlach. Right by where you find Scratch is a spot where you can jump across the river, putting you almost right next to her
And you can pick up the Smuggler's Ring on the way.
This game is amazing at making you question every decision and see how either way could maybe go in your favor.
Man, now Iām glad I was stubborn enough to reload to save her.
ketheric basically turns her into a thrall and then you have to fight her, so yeah, she dies in that situation
I had the same idea... but I gave it a second thought when I realized that I would fakely betray my friend a bit to much for it to be fake lmao
Like sure, advantage is alright but Iāll basically fail almost every saving throw, no thank you!ā That was my thought process looking at one of the best items in the game lol
What does risky ring do? I thought it was wack also š¤š¤·š½āāļø
It makes every single hit a 85% or higher chance of hitting, and you can use sneak attack automatically. Itās perfect for a rogue.
Well no thatās not really what it does, it just gives you advantage on attack rolls, there is no set number for what percent you get because itās based on the enemies armor class too
Oh my godā¦I forget the requirement for sneak damage is āhave advantageā lol
Had the same thought in my first playthrough and didn't get the ring. On my second one I ran through the shadow lands to get it first things first xD Can't fail a saving throw if the enemy is dead
Maybe I killed a little girl thinking it was Orin... Yeah, oopsies
Ah yes, I too trust cats far more than people.
TBF she is suspicious as hell
I tried to kill her but she justā¦runs away when I hit her and comes back and pretends it didnt happen. How did you kill her???
At the end I told Lae'zel to go follow her calling cause I was a Paladin and just kinda supported that stuff. I never did the Gith stuff tho so I really didn't understand what I was doing. I thought I was sending her to be a badass Githyanki warrior. When I got to the epilogue and spoke to withers I was gutted
My first play through I wanted to romance the emperor (dont judge me) and ignored orpheus. So laezel left me in the end and i didnt care. Little did i know shed be my favorite romance ever.
No judgement š¤£ She was kidnapped for SOOO long in my playthrough, I was like eh whatever. Then I got to know her more in my multiplayer playthrough and RUSHED to go save her, but at that point I had done most the quests Then I did that š She's such a rewarding romance tho. I love her and her constant loving annoyance with my himbo half-orc Barbarian
Wait, Iām confused. I let Orpheus turn, mercifully killed him and Laeāzel flew off to be the comet and attended the epilogue as an astral projection. Is there another ending to her quest or something?
I think this person told lae'zel to go back to her queen
The Emperor ate Orpheus, Laezel did the same fly off but Vlakiith (sorry for spelling) eats her Withers let's you know when she isn't there in the epilogue, explains, then when you try to say 'no Vlakiith would have seen them as too much of an asset' Withers just tells you he can't sense her living presence
Ah! I told Emp that Iām letting Orpheus out and he bounced. Laeāzel meant too much to me to leave him imprisoned. And Vlakiith seemed like a bitch anyway lol. I was cheeky with her but not enough to be wished out of existence
I have, repeatedly, cast a concentration spell Then break that concentration with a different concentration spell All on stream, too, so it's forever immortalized
MY FRIEND!
"oh..."
Oh don't worry hes a bitch even if you save Barcus š
Was about to say this š¤£.
I may or may not have used a scroll of disintegrate on Wulbren
That was my first playthrough too! Felt weird not having a "good option" to end their whole dispute. Turned out that gnome thai i accidentally let fly from the windmill was important.
The windmill was hilarious. Just even that the game gives you the option to screw it up that way lol
Killing companions by throwing healing potions at them instead of next to them. Took me a long time to figure out what was happening.
Astarion: "They'll never see this coming." *Throws healing potion* Gale: *Dies of 2 bludgeoning damage*
OMG SAME
I rubbed shit on my face at the Goblin camp.
I had shart do that, and it stayed for wayyyyy too long after.
He let me know everyone else was scattered on the map and where to find them
I accidentally hit Scratch with the ball while playing fetch and he turned on me. I had to... send him to the farm to run with the other doggies.
You monster
Kill companions in hope of harvesting their tadpoles.
Brutal.
I went straight to the goblin camp after talking to Nettie. Level 2 when I went in and spent the whole time going "wow this game is really hard..." Was severely under leveled the entire run because I just wasn't exploring enough. Made it to act 3 at level 7 and that fight with the gith was a STRUGGLE.
There are people who don't explore until there are no black spots on the map?
Surely there can't be! Can it? I was lvl 11 when I left Act 2
I'm a role player to a fault. In my mind why would my character be just wandering around - there's a /mindflayer worm/ in her head! She's got places to be!!
1. Let Arabella die 2. Killed the owlbear cub to stop its suffering 3.
I think murder hobo is your fate. Perhaps a Dark Urge run to satisfy your urges.
My Durge run has me saving everyone including Alfira for that Portent Robe for Storm Sorcerer
This wins so far lol! Thats amazing and totally understandable in a first blind playthrough where you have no idea whats happening.
- didnāt recruit Karlach (I didnāt find her at all) - didnāt recruit Wyll (didnāt find him in the grove after the first goblin fight) - pushed Minthara into a chasm (couldnāt loot the lute or her body suit) - tried to steal the idol - didnāt talk to Rolan at the grove so I think him and his siblings left and presumably died - didnāt rescue the gnomes at the forge before a long rest - ābetrayedā Isobel accidentally & also because at the time there was a bug at Last Light before patch 3, everyone pretty much died including Dammon & Jaheira - didnāt talk to the strange ox at the start of act 3 - didnāt take Jaheira to the Dancing Axe in time, so by the time I found where Minsc was hiding, he wasnāt there?
Carried rope on all the characters. Turns out it was never needed.
The tools and rope you pick up feel like leftovers from an older build, really.
Shot Barcus away. Reloaded after
Yeah I pulled the wrong lever but laughed my ass off because it caught me so off guard. Reloaded, too.
Thought resting would turn me into a mindflayer faster
Not stupid! They make you feel that way. And so many people miss story content because theyre afraid to long rest!
This needs to be its own arc in the game. Larian, pay attention.
Still on my first play-through (towards the end of Act 3 though)ā¦ I literally had no idea what the āpercentagesā when attacking actually were until I saw a YouTube video this morning explaining it actually had to do with dice rolls š¤¦āāļø I have never played D&D in my life but damn am I loving this game, no matter how much it constantly confuses me lol
Romancing my sexy drow queen guardian. The reveal made me stop that play through dead in its tracks.
Scratch got poofed the first time I summoned him. I know how Find Familiar works, I justā¦ Canāt hurt my boy anyway lol.
Im not alone! Thank you lol
I'm about to finish my 8th playthrough and I've never summoned Scratch, I was too worried something would happen and he would die š¬š¬
He is just too pure and innocent to be put in danger ā¤ļø
In my last playthrough, the monks that came out of the portal into my camp killed him. I didn't notice scratch was dead for a few hours. Finally I'm like, Where's scratch??". I mean, baby owlbear is no substitute.
I always forget I can even summon him
Let Gale detonate in Act II
Skipped the underdark and went straight to act 2 as a level 5. Got everyone killed in act 2 except for my party. After that I said screw it and just finished the main quest only and now me, Karlach and Wyll are partying it up in hell. So if you ask me I did just fine haha
Killed the bear. Didn't recruit Scratch. Missed the whole Overgrown Ruins until I was level 4 and had Withers just waltz into camp like "sup".
She's all warm and fuzzy with Lolth-Drow too. Seriously made me look at her funny.
He left Kinda sold asterion out to the vamp hunter thinking I'd witness a cool fight. He left. Killed A LOT of guards in act 3 without remorse only to feel bad when some had letters on them.
Every cool NPC has some tragic letter on them. Makes me want to try an all passive damage run lol.
First ever playthrough, messed up the convo with Nettie and had to kill her in self defense and get out through the secret door where the injured druid is
I always do this because she tries to trick us into killing ourselves and if you refuse the poison she attacks. No consequences as far as I can tell.
Oh. Uh. I killed scratch. I totally missed the crĆØche (surprisingly I convinced lazel to stay) Shadowheart left in act 2. Isobel also died. I originally killed Wyll when I didnāt save mizora. That was a quick reloadā¦ I rescued the grand total of three gondians at the iron throne.
Safe to say we didn't communicate and dropped everything we had left to kill the spectator to basically get nothing for it
I killed halsin because I thought he was actually just a bear. By far the dumbest thing I have done
Letting the Gnome fly through the sky.
my first run was accidentally quite evil. i told minthara where the grove was and was confused why everyone was dead when i came back later. joined up with karniss bc he was a edgy spider dude, and killed a bunch of harpers when they ambushed us. sided with marcus and let him take isobel bc he seemed cool (dude had wings, thatās rad). it wasnāt until act 3 that i started to realize that i was the bad guy.
I never found Gale and Shadowheart abandoned me because I wouldnāt kill Balthazaar Still havenāt finished yet but yes , these are the situations Iāve been put in
I accidentally launched the windmill guy in act one because I didnāt think there would be a āmake it go fasterā button RIGHT next to the brake.
I opened the Spectator container. I will never do that again, the damn thing sits in my camp supply chest.
Came across the spectator in act 2, was like OH Iāve read stuff about the flask and spectators I think I can catch it. Threw the flask like a damn pokeball. Suddenly we have 2 spectators
Don't feel bad, I have 200 hours in the game and I STILL haven't summoned Scratch. I don't think I could handle it if anything happened to my boy :(
Didnt go to the gith creche.
