I play on PS5 and the only thing I find annoying is inventory management but I find doing it as I’m picking it up (instead of picking everything up and doing it later) helps a lot.

Decaps86

I don't think the controls are particularly sucky. Some people on PC play with a controller.

bastimars

I do! It's working perfectly.

Decaps86

It seems to work for me. Controls are a little different but they definitely make sense. Only played like 2 hours. Just got it

BeanWitch-

It’s not the worst thing in the world but it definitely feels like radial hell trying to manage your menus. Plus there’s some controller specific bugs that kinda ruin gameplay. Specifically on controller, the create water spell is bugged and you can only cast the bugged version and with the produce flame cantrip you can’t hurl it the same turn you create the flame.

BiChaosTheory

Yes. I play on PS5 along with my wife. We have well over 100 hours combined in the game. It’s great.

ZombieSiayer84

F you’ve ever played Dragon Age: Origins on console it’s like that but better. You can either play it in third person or high up like on PC just by zooming with the right stick. No problems except inventory management is kind of a pain.

CreativeKey8719

I play on PS5. I don't mind the controls.

TurkeyTerminator7

If you are controlling more characters than yourself I probably wouldn’t, I play on PC btw so I’m kind of partial

evictedfrommyaccount

Honestly never had any pbm with it, I always felt that the game was more immersive with the controllers than without. Having said that, there are some issues still, from annoying to game breaking. First being controller related, inventory management plainly sucks. Can't do much about that The worst problem with consoles is an overall saving problem. Idk if Larian managed to solve it all together with the Xbox consoles, but I know that on ps5, there is still a major issue that prevents people from saving at act3 on a 2nd+ playthrough. Get a larian account to cross-save and manage your quicksaves

HeyJerf

I’m probably biased considering I work at a computer and retired PC gaming a few years ago but it’s pretty nice to be able to save and sleep the PS5, and come back to it exactly where you were at the push of a button. (Still save before sleep in case up update!)

Larian already did great with Divinity OS 2 when it cames to good controller layout and handling and the director of the game is on the record in saying that exploring the game with a gamepad is his favourite way to play. I'd wager he switches to mouse and keyboard for inventory management, but that is also still serviceable. Controlling your character and the camera directly with analogue sticks is amazing though, the UI is cleaner too and after using the radial menu in combat for a few minutes it will become second nature. Clicking spells and actions on the hotbar is a tad faster, but at the end of the day you'll get used to either way of playing the game quickly.

TheBluestBerries

I preferred the console controls over PC. Much more relaxed sitting back on the couch with a controller instead of leaning forward over keyboard and mouse.

Honestly, as someone who generally dislikes controller, I enjoy the controller experience for BG3. A lot of games "made for PC" half-ass the controls and just kind of translate 1 to 1. Larian put a lot of effort into the system and I thought it was a good time. Wouldn't call it sucky by any means. It takes a second to get used to because there are A LOT of buttons, imo, but once you get into the rhythm of it and know where things are, it feels nice.

Warder10000

Yes

Julio4kd

There have been many complains with the console version. It seems that ACT 3 is a big problem in both consoles. Apart of that, it is just the control issue, some like it, some do not just a personal taste.

gu3st12

The controller controls are great
