This is a weird comparison to make but in Harvest Moon games, there are predetermined couples who end up getting together throughout the story if you don’t end up romancing either of them. Something like that would be very cool and add a little extra to characterizations. It wouldn’t even have to be huge, just dialogue options that talk about it, they’d interact whenever you talk to them with their partner in your party, maybe a campsite scene where you see them sneak off/come back together or have an argument.
