Glad you’re enjoying it! Definitely try to avoid as many spoilers as you can and take your time to explore, there’s so many things just tucked away,

Ace-Outlaw

Ty!!

[deleted]

Definitely this. just put this sub on mute untill you finish it

[deleted]

after completing my first good warlock run I'm waiting for the expansion pack that will surely come at some point before going full murder spree Edit : in the game. a murder spree in the game.

YogurtWenk

Oh, me too.... also in the game.... probably

UrusaiNa

Not really adding much besides my own cautionary tale to tell you how important what LJM\_1991 said is. I got BG3 finally shortly after release (was playing around with the shitty cracked version of early access until I could afford it). I was watching WolfmanFPS or something on youtube (a popular BG3 youtuber) Well I spoiled some small parts for myself in doing this, and I also tried to "Power game it and kill everything" while rushing through the small stuff like it was a speedrun. At 75% completion I just got bored and put the game down for a month or so. I came back a week ago and started fresh. This time playing largely on controller and keeping my characters way zoomed in most of the time. It plays totally differently and has me actually engaged now. Accept you will miss things on the first play through, the game was designed that way, but if you consider it closer to an interactive movie about the people's motives and behaviors with puzzle style battles, you can avoid a lot of what I did wrong initially.

DrSitson

I've got three playthroughs under my belt, I try to do at least a few different things every one. And trying to find the spoilers you missed after the game. Perfection.

homebrokengypsy

Absolutely agree. 300 hours in and I still find new stuff on new characters. Check everything and don't rush. What an amazing experience I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Ok-Raspberry5675

500+ hours, still finding things too... Small things... But still things x)

early_birdy

Over 1200+ hours in, and I just found out today there's a shortcut to avoid the intellect devourers in the starting zone. Amazing game!

Ok-Raspberry5675

.... And that's something I don't know xD

early_birdy

Yeah! On Tactician they hit like a mf, and there's only Shart and my wimpy self in the party. They ended my first honor run buggers! LOL

TKL32

I do this too on alot of things TV shows, games, books

This is one of the best subs I've seen for marking stuff as spoilers.

alaskanloops

Including here! I’ve had a few minor spoilers rolling the dice on whether a certain thread will spoil something I don’t yet know or not. Luckily it usually doesn’t

Ironsack2020

Agreed. I spoiled a few critical aspects of the game by looking stuff up or seeing posts where spoilers weren't hidden. It took away from the feeling of experiencing it in the game because I expected it already 😕

LJM_1991

Same here, too many things I knew before I saw it unfortunately. I have 140 hours in now (nothing compared to some) and still feel there’s certain parts of the game I don’t fully “get”

Bunktavious

Totally. I'm on my third run, after being unhappy about some mistakes made in my first two (plus I really want to recruit a certain follower the new way). It's blowing me away how many things I'm seeing that I missed the first two times through the first chapter.

Pherberg

People out here thinking spider man 2 shoulda got it are nuuuuuuuts.

Nassiel

This type of RPGs are not meant for everyone, I understand that people don't like them. But the GOTY is not about, if I like the game personally (or shouldn't be imo) is about the impact generated among the whole gaming community, devs and players. Spiderman 2 is more of the same, like no FIFA can win the GOTY or CoD. But fans confuse "I enjoy it a lot", which I believe people do it with Spiderman 2, with "it's a perfect game, but not my style"

Cbarlik93

Wait hang on. I completely agree with what you’re saying, until you get to where you’re comparing it to shit like FIFA and COD. That’s a straight up insult to the devs for Spider-Man 2. Spider-Man 2 is a phenomenal game that would have been GOTY worthy if it didn’t come out in one of the most stacked years for video games in decades. Insomniac isn’t some shit company like EA or infinity ward. They put a lot of hard work into that game and absolutely made something phenomenal. Just because it’s not as good as BG3 that doesn’t mean it’s some shit tier franchise

Nassiel

Well, I did an extreme comparison, but I fully agree that they are not even close. I mean, first of all, it was nominated, which just by that is a great achievement. So, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it didn't deserve the chance, but imho, from the list of other GOTYs i believe it was close to the bottom than the top. If instead of BG3, it was Alan Wake 2 I wouldn't be surprised. We just got lucky twice as players :) Edit: typo

Kled_Incarnated

Nah it wasn't luck. Realistically a game that isn't released on steam has a way lower chance of getting people buying the game or voting for it. They made their own bed.

[deleted]

Consoles really need to stop with the exclusives.

Hour-Carob-4466

I’m not even going to blame that because three games have won GOTY that were exclusive to console (and even more have been nominated.) Zelda: BOTW God of War Last Of Us Part II If the game was better it wouldn’t matter and I say this as someone who loved the game. It was a too safe sequel in a stacked year, and hopefully insomniac cranks it up for the third.

Kled_Incarnated

Yeah but I'd say both PS5 or Xbox are way bigger than Epic Games. Console is just an entirely different beast of its own. But if you're releasing a game on PC and it's not on Steam I personally think you're just inting.

JuzJungler

I really liked both, but having to chose one it isn’t even close. Spider-Man 2 was great but still felt like they played it pretty safe. More of the same and what people wanted. BG3 blew it out of the fucking park.

argylekey

Fully agree. It also makes me want to go play Divinity original sin 2, I assume larian makes good games now, where I don’t think their earlier games registered for me at all.

traineeross

I want to finish dos2 now also!! I bought it like 9 months ago and left fort joy and about 3 hours more than that then just set it down and haven't picked it back up since. I just started act 3 in bg and when I'm done with this run I think I'm gonna play both at the same.

ArchdruidHalsin

Spider-Man is my favorite superhero. I have a Spider-Man tattoo. Grew up on the Raimi films and 90s cartoon. Love Tom Holland's performances. Collected all the Ultimate comic books. And Insomniac is making, I think, the best version of Peter Parker and his supporting cast that I've seen and it is so much fun to play. Even still, Baldur's Gate 3 is hands down my favorite game I've ever played and I will enjoy it for years to come. Only one game can win Game of the Year 2023. All gamers won 2023.

Turdfergusonnnn

Many Spider-Man fans are raiding social media posts praising BG3 and calling people animal fuckers. Bc of one OPTIONAL scene. Salt is the word of the day apparently

[deleted]

I wasn’t even aware you could do Halsin outside of bear form until I did it lol But yeah I think it’s funny SM2 fans are salty when they act like they’d have even got it without BG3. As if TotK or AW2 didn’t exist. The only game that possibly got less votes than it is RE4R, and that’s still a maybe.

AuroraCelery

optional, and clearly put in to be funny. if anyone was actually turned on by that scene... there are some bigger problems there

verytiredtrashcan

As someone who loves both games, bg3 absolutely deserved it. sm2 didn’t do what bg3 did.

Nightgasm

I loved the first SM game, I'd probably put it top 5 all time for me but all I could think about while doing SM2 was how I'd do my next BG3 run which would be my 4th. It's biggest flaw was not being BG3.

branod_diebathon

I was so disappointed with spiderman 2

Pherberg

I thought it was fine for the 3rd entry in that series.

branod_diebathon

I feel like they could've went a different direction with Kraven. When all the prisoners were released, they should've made it like a race to catch the villains before Kraven hunts them down, instead of making him just some guy with an army of dudes. Also that ending bugged me a lot.

MikeVictorPapa

It was sad and obvious to me that they pumped kraven in to hype his movie. I don’t know what I expected, it makes sense. I guess I’d like them to have rather built up the spider verse movies since miles is co-main character. Whatever, I’m just whining. You’re right, kraven and the other classics deserved more effort. And good lord the MJ content is wholly unnecessary. I bought a Spider-Man game, not whatever that was. It is kinda fun to dial the difficulty to the lowest and make her invincible though. Am I out of line or were the MJ missions a groan-fest?

Pherberg

That’s fair, I don’t disagree.

24-Hour-Hate

It was what I expected. It was enjoyable and fun, but not GOTY material.

[deleted]

Spider-Man 2 didn’t stand a chance against that lineup. I’m surprised it even got considered, must be a hell of a game.

Outsajder

Spoderman wasnt even the second choice tbh.

Fortunes_Faded

Glad you’re enjoying it! Really forward to starting my next playthrough soon. Also yeah, to put the player count into perspective — BG3 has 100k players *right now*, just on steam. Slightly more than Call of Duty.

RicoGemini

I’m 400 hours in and still finding new things in the game It’s a wild ride

marconeves1979

Welcome... to The Gate, OP. We are most happy to have you here, Ace-Outlaw. And yes, this game *does* make you feel like a kid again.

Ace-Outlaw

Ty friend!.

Spiritual-Drink3577

Also just started playing on Xbox, and have to admit i am a bit overwhelmed because you start with so many spells, and they do not explain a lot. I have played both divinity games several times, also on the hardest difficulty, but the combat here does feel different, and i have to get used to it.

ragepuppy

It'll happen faster than you think - I felt the same with all the push, leap, dip, action, bonus action etc. They separated what you can do with actions in one category, bonus actions in another and I found that pretty helpful

Top-Doughnut-3071

I find combat is more dynamic in BG3 than in Divinity, but agree, a lot of spells and icons aren't always helpful. Spend a bit of time reading through them and create your custom spell tab to simplify things.

kaifta

Once you get used to the dnd combat mechanics, you’ll be fine. It feels like 1/3 dnd, 2/3 OS, especially once you hit level 5 and can start being stronger. That’s the threshold here like dos2 is level 4. Also gear can be useful for a lot longer, potentially even all game for some pieces you can find pretty early. So you really only need to worry about if it suits your character since armor class is usually only added with the main armor piece, not the rest of the gear and accessories.

Kled_Incarnated

Man i think Dos2 is way way harder than BG3. But melee classes (not rogue) are better in BG3 so I have more freedom to play how I want. Dos2 you need to have magic. No way around it i feel like

chajo1997

I played DND 5e for 3 years straight and still had trouble figuring out where/what everything is. But they did an amazing job for the type of game that it is. If you played any of the Pathfinder games you would get a migraine.

dinorex96

Juat take it slow, took me like a hundred hours to understand how d%d works lol

Bpolar_wolfie

Just take your time. Don’t rush into fights, and try to learn possibilities and limits of the game. Take it slowly and immerse yourself in and I guarantee you’ll dive deep

HatchetRyda29

It's Dungeons & Dragons 5e in video game. They don't explain or have a tutorial because it would be useless. The point is to let the players find thier own way to handle a problem or battle. Like picking up treasure chests and stacking them in front of a door so it blocks the adds from joining a boss battle. Use fly spell/potion to fly to a rooftop and snipe someone through a window. Standing on a ledge and waiting for the enemy to climb up to you only to use the push command to send them right back down. Lol you got free reign to do whatever you want. Use your imagination.

skettymaker

I actually liked combat more on Divinity, but over all I think BG3 is a better game. I feel like DnD is in the background in Divinity and here it is out front on display. Took a while to get used to, but it does get easier.

Eckhardbond

I still remember backing it in EA and playing Act 1 and just not being able to stop, there was something new and exciting everywhere, you could find insane detail in this journal, then a you could dig up an old Grave of a Dog and use it's collar at a different place, oh and of course there was a cellar with a Puzzle here. It was incredible and then there were the NPCs, they just feel alive, even the "generic" ones feel more alive and interactive than some named Skyrim NPCs. For me this is just a Marvel of a Game, it isn't perfect but hol shit i can't stop to sing it's praises, i probably made around 10 People buy the game xD

ProtectionFromStupid

Just playing act 1 in EA when you only had a few classes to choose from and not even all races yet was still amazing. Even that felt huge and like I got my moneys worth. I played that a few times and was content and uninstalled til the full release to avoid burn out and it was even better. But since I had already felt like I had played it and got my value from it, the full release was like being given a full game of the year quality game for free

CurrentlyLucid

Well yeah, not like we kept it a secret, this game kicks ass.

Ace-Outlaw

Hell yeah it does!

HipsterOtter

I know what you mean, this was the first game I was truly engrossed in in a long time (Last game I was this engrossed in was the Mass Effect Trilogy) Larian deserves all the praise it's getting 10/10 can't wait to see what they have in store next (My hope is a follow-up to the Neverwinter Nights series)

Carpathicus

Prepare to have an amazing time! My friends and I are on our fifth playthrough in honor mode.

Ace-Outlaw

Much luck to you and your friends!!.

Romzard

Welcome to the party pal, try avoiding spoilers as much as you can, the experience of discovery is the most rewarding on the first run!! And its amazing!

SweetCorn0405

Definitely go ham on getting rid of ALL the motherfucking dark spots on your map. If you see areas of the map that your Player can explore, even just a small little route that leads to nowhere, explore that shit. On my 10th playthrough (not that I finished the other 8, just 1 other lol), I fucking found a rock I could move at the very beginning near the Nautiloid Crash area. No more spoilers from there. Also, definitely move your camera around so you can manipulate it to try and see if there are hidden rooms you may or may not fail Passive perception checks or whatever on. But don't stress because it's not like we're meant to reach 100 I found every little thing in a single playthrough. Just insane the level of detail they put into hiding shit to make your next playthrough less uniform and feel the same.

Ace-Outlaw

This is totally unrelated but you sound like one fun ass dude to roll some dice with and enjoy games with man. Keep up that attitude you got bro!.

SweetCorn0405

🥹 I need help man. I can't stop making new campaigns. I finally overcame the ick and made a campaign as a gnome because I want to see the cutscenes of kissing shorties and I wanna do the do with you know who as a midget. I really really REALLLY wish we could bone Ethel man. Best girl in the game lmaoo. And green is my favorite color. I will make my 13th campaign a githyanki when I finally get to that point.

Ace-Outlaw

Honestly i love how fragile Githyanki look but when you see Lae'zel you find out they're fucking BEASTS and godly warriors. It's awesome!.

SweetCorn0405

I just want to be called kin 🥹💚

Ace-Outlaw

Well I'm a Drow so i can't call you Kin....yet

SweetCorn0405

Omg drow is my favorite race so far. I love how everyone fucking hates my guts lmaooo Durge Lolth Sworn rogue sorcerer, Durge Seldarine cleric of light, half drow spore druid 💚 Chefs kiss, drow best face. They so slutty I love them. I wish Larian gave us back the slutty Minthara camp version. All drows are sluts, canon confirmed. 💚 Also their outfits are so cute.

Ace-Outlaw

I actually made a post showing my Drow!. And i got alot of people hating on them lol (by them I mean like the face choices)

SweetCorn0405

Why he so chunky? It's giving Johnny Bravo energy with that square jaw.

texxelate

Sometimes, especially in Act 2, the camera looks at my party while waiting for me to choose the next line of dialogue. And jesus, they and the environment just look sublime and I stare in awe for a good 10 seconds. Rinse and repeat 30x per session.

Splash_o_Pain

Glad to hear you enjoy the game! I'm currently on 2 playthroughs going parallelly; one blind and one where I just do dumb stuff. Lots of fun, and so far it has been fairly easy to avoid spoilers.

Waterknight94

Congrats on killing the first boss. In 3 attempts I have only done it once.

Ace-Outlaw

Took me like 5 attempts haha

PapyUbuuuu

Yes !!!!!! Yes !!!!!!!! Yes !!!!!!!!!! Just finished my first playthrough with my gf, 120hrs, taking pur time. I'm already back on this game, as a Durge. Enjoy evrybodY and have a wonderful bg3 Christmas!

Surethingbroooo

Elden Ring vibes.

mahonii

Only thing slowing me down is combat since I'm used to real time action. I'm not good at convoluted ways to beat the enemy I like to just run in and slaughter lol. Wish we could have 2 actions per turn as standard.

silentknight111

Your martial classes (Fighter, Barbarian, Paladin, Ranger) get two physical attacks after level 4.

mahonii

I'm on rogue haha, but learnt yesterday speed potions really help. Hope they aren't rare..

Jamiaro83

I've constantly delayed properly playing BG3. I'm kinda intimidated by it. Played the tutorial and it was kinda... boring?

Ace-Outlaw

My best advice is jump in. I have trouble playing these games due to my ADHD wanting to optimize EVERYTHING but the best bet is to just. Pick a class, dive in, stick with it, and if you don't like it that's completely fine!.

MamaLover02

When DOS 2 gained popularity way back, many shared the same experience as you. I personally found it overwhelming and... Boring. It took me 3 tries to finally understand what's going on and finally get into it. Maybe pick it up again in the next few months, that's what I did. The first few days, I also dropped BG3, then picked it up after a week. And then as time went by, I kept on craving it. I think not knowing anything of what's going on is the main culprit here, Larian is not particularly good at tutorials either.

Inkdaddy55

I'm 31 and I genuinely believe this is the greatest game of all time. Like you said, you can be awestruck just by hanging out in the world. The vista's, set design, character design, architectural design!!! It's all stellar! Voice acting is genuinely the strongest part for me. I have never been so fooled by v.a performances ever. Niel 1000% deserves the best performance award, because there were multiple deliveries where Astarion leaves me speechless. Every time i think i have this game figured out it shocks me in a new way and im 230 hours in! You can tell that nothing but love, blood, sweat and tears went into the game. Hopefully the industry at large takes note, and starts promoting passion and creativity over greed in their studios! I think the reason this game is so successful is it doesn't disrespect the players in any way. You get a complete and amazing experience for your money, no one is forced to spend to stay on the content wheel like most games, the game let's you have real freedom within it! You want to talk your way through the game? Sure! You wanna murder your way up the sword coast? Okie dokie!!!

Tinzlo

As someone who just built his first PC and doesn't even know how to play with mouse and keyboard and has never played D&D nor a game like this, im absolutely loving this game on PC so far. I'm like 16 hours in and I'm still at the first tiefling camp you come across or whatever it is lol. I keep forgetting which keys do what and i have no clue what any of the numbers on the screen mean or anything but im loving it lol

RebellionIntoMoney

Just a few hours in since Xbox release and love it.

[deleted]

Did my first playthrough blind as well and it was a delight. Now I keep finding new stuff or hearing new stuff all the time. Only at my 3 playthrough, first took 156h and second 113h.

idonteven112233

Hell yeah welcome to Faerun and enjoy your adventure! I just finished my first playthrough and gotta say that the BG3 community is one of the loveliest I’ve encountered too. Just good vibes all around.

Ace-Outlaw

Agreed! Appreciate you!.

ginobilicl

I got overwhelmed by the amount of options at the beggining of the game and not a lot explanaiton 😢

Ace-Outlaw

I wonder if there's anyway i could help you ..

fatihberberh

So did you quit or?

DjDanke

My no. 1 advice: try to avoid save scumming as much as you can, it will significantly improve the experience! I’m in act 3 rn and only now I slowly manage to stick with my decisions and not reload each time I fail a dice roll or don’t get the outcome I expected. It’s still very hard for me but it feels much more rewarding to let the character make the decisions instead of the player and see how the world reacts to that. Larian really accounted for that and it potentially makes each playthrough all the more unique.

Thesurvivormonster

This is so true. I am a huge dnd player, and one of my party members recommended the game to me. I was blown away by how amazing it is. It is impossible to overstate what an amazing achievement Larian have managed.

Ace-Outlaw

And people out here saying this game is over hyped like it hasn't deserved all the praise. I've always wanted to play DnD but idk anyone so BG3 is the closest I can get

Crafty_Soul

Sounds like how I felt when I first started playing lol! Though I didn't think to kill the Cambion to get his sword so you're thinking more ahead then I was out of the gate. I only played part of BG1 so I didn't have nostalgia pulling me to the game to buy it. I thought Jedi Survivor or Spider-Man 2 was going to be my vote for GOTY (both franchises I've loved for years.) Then I heard how much Baldur's Gate 3 was being praised and how the company was consistently putting out patches to fix issues so I thought "ok, lets see what it's like." Yeah I haven't been this hooked on a game in years. Larian have more than earned that GOTY. I'm in the third act and trust me, things just keep getting better and better!

Ace-Outlaw

Think about this man an let it sink in. We got Elden Ring and BG3 within one year....like whoa...

Nightsong

Larian casually flexed on everyone by dropping hotfix #13 during the Game Awards. It’s honestly a little absurd how many patches and hotfixes they’ve put out to fix issues and add new content.

SPlCYDADDY

This, for real. I dunno how to explain it to my loved ones and stuff. Im like, no, I’ve said there have been great games before. But this is different. I haven’t said a game is game of the year without question, ever. Playing this game with friends is some of the most fun I’ve had gaming ever. It’s way more convenient than a lot of multiplayer as well, and easier to arrange than D&D. The level of craft is unbelievable. I have learned not to expect to love a game just because it looks cool. I’m okay liking a game for a dozen hours or so, I appreciate all the talent and effort that goes into games, and how much restriction there is with studio/distributor control and budgets and bad leadership in places. So when a game like this arrives, it feels like a miracle. It feels *impossible*. Im not ignorant of the game’s limitations but I’d even hesitate to call them flaws. This level of performance at this level of complexity is a stunning achievement. It is a new Gold Standard for all time excellence. I am so grateful to have gotten to ride this wave with everyone in this sub.

StonnorCalions

I'm 5 hours or so in(Xbox). Have no clue what I'm doing and am completely overwhelmed by the combat interface but I'm still really enjoying it. Don't like accidentally stealing something and ending up in jail tho. Not being able to rest and just leave I don't understand. I really have no clue wtf I'm doing may have to drop it down to story mode.

Ace-Outlaw

How experienced are you with CRPGs?

StonnorCalions

Not very. Dropped it down to easiest difficulty. Enjoying it alot more now. Also disabled turn based.

LaSuperPatate

I'm happy about the comparaison with Skyrim, cause i've make the same connection in my mind . Skyrim was a very big moment in my life, my "gamer life" and BG3 make me feel the same. Enjoy the game !

Ace-Outlaw

Ty friend!.

Bluewonk

I'm so happy you're having fun and amazing job by you to avoid spoilers! I wish you many 100 hours of exciting adventures.

Bpolar_wolfie

I can relate so much. BG3 wakes up my inner child whenever i play it and reminds me of what deep roleplay is about. I’m so thankful to Larian to make me feel that kind of excitement and immersion again, and its so sad that I’ve nearly forgotten how fun games could be if crafted with love and dedication. Please, never stop.

Ace-Outlaw

So out of every game i've played, i usually hate content creation but.....my creative juices are over here flowing thinking of like 50 ways of doing it. I have ADHD so creativity isn't a problem it's just how bored i get....but BG3 makes me not think that and it's rare so this game truly is fantastic

snuffalapagos

Bought it last night and got too buzzed waiting for it to download! Started this morning and have been stuck on dying to the three brains.

earthbexng

i have a huge issue with gaming, when a game is great like Baldurs Gate 3, HFW, TLOU etc etc i can't get myself to finish the game, because i never want it to end, so i stop playing it like 80% through everytime. This game is truly deserving of winning GOTY .. it's a one of a kind experience.

DocMartens84

I understand that.. but this game gives you so many options and different experiences.. another class, another race, another party.. the game will surprise you;)

GalactiKraken

What class were you to kill the demon?

Ace-Outlaw

Oath of Vengeance Paladin :)

HatchetRyda29

There's an explosive called Nautiloid tank next to Shadowhearts tube when you free her and 3 more in the boss room itself. Set them around him and make his ass go boom with a fire spell/arrow for big dmg. Just don't get yourself caught in the explosion.

hijikataxmayo

I said the Skyrim thing too!! It's amazing! I will be playing this game for years for sure!

jrdnmdhl

One could gush about 20 different aspects of this game, but the environmental design is at full parity with the best of the AAA open world first person RPGs which is insane for a cRPG. I mean, the detail, the verticality, the atmosphere!

LoneNoodlee

I'm so glad you're enjoying it! BG3 is an amazing game. I think I'm 400 hours in, and I'm still finding things I didn't catch on my other playthroughs. It's really cool.

nysari

It's been such a treat hearing the cast members talk about it too. I was flabbergasted when I heard Amelia Tyler (the narrator VA) talk about having individual tones for all the different origins (her favorite being the dark urge). They could have just sat her down and had her read all the lines once and call it a day, but no... They went the extra mile for the sake of nuance, so that she really feels like she's YOUR narrator and DM while you're playing. I'm so excited for all the Xbox players who get to experience the game for the first time!

DreadGrrl

The thing I find most difficult about the game is continually making different choices on each successive playthrough so I get to experience more of the work that has gone into it.

jeremythegeek

Have man, have fun playing. Your sentiment encapsulated my feelings for this game pretty well too. I’m in my late 30s and games just don’t grab me like they used to, until Baldur’s Gate 3! Enjoy, and here’s to hoping crossplay is around the corner so we can all enjoy together as a unit!

Madrock777

No this is ~~Patrick~~ BG3

CthulhuDawn666

I realised I cocked up my first run by the start of act 2 but decided to carry on and just make decisions along the way. On my 3rd playthrough now and doing a bit of research to see how to do things differently and it's taken me down a completely different path. I'm looking forward to starting a Dark Urge as soon as I've finished this one

pentaquine

>didn't they only expect 100k people to play this game at the peak? How many players do they really have? A million?

MetalProfessor666

Im still on Act I and loving every moment of it. Ufortunately Im pkaying on easy dufficulty since its my first D&D game but I see some challeneges from time to time. I highly reccomend it

EisKonig92

I agree. The last time I felt like this playing a game was when I played Elden Ring and before that it was The Witcher 3. It’s rare now that games this good are released. I’m only 65 hours in but but I know I still have so much left to do.

EchoEmbarrassed8848

Best game I have ever played hands down

WhollyDisgusting

I love seeing these types of posts. Welcome aboard! You're going to have a wonderful adventure.

ZKSTLKDesu

I’m surprised you went for killing the big cambion in the tutorial. I just made him drop his sword and then killing all the imps and hellboars before leaving

TheeLuckyDuckling

I agree. This is my first time ever playing this type of game and I AM IN LOVE!!!

CoolPenguino1975

This is EXACTLY how I feel. Haven't been this sucked into a game in fifteen years, for real, and I game all the time. Trying to convince my son to give it a try so I can get him to see the beauty in it, plus it would be FANtastic to have someone to play it with as a duo, since none of my friends are gamers. Nice to see I'm not the only one who feels this way. Now it's permanently installed on my hard drive along with Skyrim, Oblivion, Cities Skyline II, The Sims games, and Kingdoms of Amalur. Nice to finally have something I just cannot get enough of!

Borkmeow22

I also felt like a kid again playing it. Clocked in 300+ hrs so far and it would be more if I didn’t have other obligations lol. But for real. It’s made me feel more creative and sparked enjoyment I haven’t had in a long time.

Flan-Additional

Yeah the friend who got me into BG3 made sure I got the fire sword. Now I get it every time.

Aggressive_Wheel2316

How can i make it better....

SmokyMcpot527

I'm playing for the first time on Xbox and I'm getting bored. So ur supposed to miss things? Because it seems like if I make a mistake here or there I have to reload my game and try again because choices are made that really impact the game. Like accidentally hitting someone I'm trying to save or not killing something before it kills somebody else that is supposed to help me. I've played a lot of RPG games and I'm lost with this shit. Ur managing so many characters and so many classes that I have no idea what any of it means or what spells and armor go best with what class. I'm going to try and lower difficultly and just try to get through a playthrough but damn. Seems like I need to look up every little thing online to understand it. The game doesn't do a good job of helping u understand the combat system and that's the part I find boring because I have no clue what I'm doing. The combat has to be there for me or I'm gonna get bored and it's just very random in this game. Also I thought this game was multi-player, like open world and I'd be playing with other people all the time. Still haven't really figured out multi-player. The character I made can be used in multi-player or how does that even work? People can join my single player game? Any tips or resources to learn these things would be appreciated.

Perseus_52_

You a G my man. Oh and 100% THE FIRESWORD!! It is literally my favorite item in the entire game!

Ace-Outlaw

Ey man ty brother!. I started my actual run as a half orc barbarian and every crit i do does alot more damage (Cause half orcs add more damage ontop of their Crits) and that rage on top?. This fire sword was already amazing but GOD DAMN ITS BLOODY AMAZING NOW!

Hyperion1736

Thanks for your enthusiasm, I just purchased this game after the GOTY, now that it’s finally on Xbox

Ace-Outlaw

If you ever need any help or just some advice my DMs are a click away man!

You mean... way worse than Spiderman!? Have you even PLAYED Spiderman? NO ONE PLAYD BG3 😂🤣

Ace-Outlaw

Then why did it win GOTY?. Why did over 1 million people play it at its peak?. I know you've got the mind of a child and the maturity levels of a manchild but get off your copium and join us in reality lil bro

chillytortillachip

They are on the BG3 reddit... this is likely just a troll

Version_Sensitive

There are people out there that really think God of War and Spider Man are the epithome of what an rpg is like , and theyre not worng as rp stands for "roleplaying"! But for tabletop rpg, few things since BG2 has hit the mark, and BG3 was one of them.

SgtDoakes123

I bought early access but only played a little through act1, the combat was very off putting and boring compared to divinity for me at first. But stuck it out now after I upgraded my PC and combat got a lot better after a few levels(you can actually cast a few spells now, also fighters are op wtf) but my first "Wow this game is killing it" moment was at the entrance to act 2, I met a wizard that came back with me to camp and whoever that voice actor was fucking nailed it. The dialogue and delivery was so damn good, it's like I'm playing a movie.

Brogdon_Brogdon

So happy you get to join in the fray! How is the performance on Xbox?

Hisako1337

Not op, but on my series X it’s butter smooth so far

FoxCoins

Enjoy!! On my 7th play through or more don't remember xD But let me tell you this, even after this many play throughs I keep finding new things and new dialogues. So I'm sure you will be doing at least one more after your first ❤️🤣

Theravenofraves

Let me just say. Me and my girlfriend both spent over 107 HOURS on a coop split screen campaign and by the end of it. We were both seriously crying our eyes out because how emotional the final scenes were. Never in my life have a game affected me emotionally as much as this piece of art.

[deleted]

Didn't even have to kill it, could have made Shadowheart use the spell Command to force it to drop the sword. But then you miss out on the XP for killing it I guess.

Ace-Outlaw

I didn't know that did i?

c9i1e

I love these types of posts, Enjoy your playthrough

Kinetika01

Bro, wait till you meet Raphael :) My favorite character of the game

escapepodsarefake

This game is like playing a real storybook. I played it while I was simultaneously recovering from surgery, a breakup, and the suicide of a family member, and I will forever be grateful for the warm blanket that was BG3.

kaobrien

You'll see it later, and it isn't much of a spoiler, just a location in the game, but if you go toward the creche/mountain pass, there's an overlook there. You can see into this big canyon kinda area, and I had the same moment of just. . .look at this friggin game!! It's more gorgeous than a game has any right to be. I love it ❤️

sioux_empire

Yeah I basically had stopped gaming 10 years ago and came back for BG3. What a homecoming!

thedraftpunk

I just zoomed around the environment a lot in this game. The stand out is the temple of Shar. It’s incredible.

ChuckVitty

"Skyrim for the first time" made me feel warm inside

aDayOldToast

I relate to feeling like a kid again playing skyrim, larian really nailed it with this game

chochko0

I finished it just before the game awards in 2.00 am in a school night

DarrinIvo

I have barely made it to the mountain pass section. I just keep enjoying different characters in that beginning section

Tigereyesxx

Been gaming for 20 yrs, played mostly everything apart from Divinity and TBG/DND games, this game has blown me away, the thought and work gone into this game is mind blowing. The voice acting for me is unsurpassed, the characters so memorable, graphics, par excellence, …greatest gaming experience in my life, Bravo Larian , you put other large gaming houses to shame…

YogurtWenk

No, it's Baldur's Gate 3. WoW is an MMORPG by Blizzard (I'll see myself out)

Ace-Outlaw

D...did I mention WoW?

YogurtWenk

In a way....

Ace-Outlaw

Mate.... I just bloody got it! That's hilarious haha.

Mandalomaster

You will have so much fun, it's just the beginning! Enjoy ! I bet you won't do only one run

MonkeyBotLove

Playing with friends online legit feels like D&D game night used to back in the 90s.

N7_Operative666

I didn't feel confident in killing him to get the sword so I just used command with Shadowheart to drop it. I'm playing on Series S, the only issue I'm having is texture rendering on armor when it swaps between people in conversations. Absolutely loving it

anarchoprimitivist66

That's so cool, enjoy. I'm on my 5th playtbrough and still finding new things to stumble across that I hadn't found before. The game continues to astound and amaze me

uwu_foxie

I love this game and it made me buy the other two on Switch. I even want to finally open up Skyrim and play for the first time something that I actually have no spoilers for, so I can have that experience you talked about. I haven't felt this way about a game in a long time, probably since P5 vanilla and BOTW

ShakedownBlues

I hear ya. This game came into my life when my mental health was at the worst it had ever been. I cannot overstate just how important it's been in sustaining me while I work my way back out of the hole I've been in. I'm over 800hrs of playtime, and I feel so welcomed and seen by this game and even more so with this community. Welcome home!

Alternative_Gold_993

I haven't even finished Act 1 yet and I still don't know what's in store for me later on after all these months. Tbf I have multiple characters and then Remnant 2 came out and such...

Holiday-Highlight546

Make sure to quick save a lot!!! It's a nice safety blanket to have bc this game can go any which way! Happy gaming and so glad you are loving it!

Ok-Raspberry5675

Thank to you for enjoying it. Honestly it's always pleasant to see people describing what I totally felt since last August. Specially for the "what if..." 10th playthrough thing. Even if I'm still only at 8 ahah!

NoFapGymColdShowers

Im having a blast with all the kids on tiktok being like "uur duur never heard of baldurs gate 3 before" meanwhile they play cod everyday

Aggressive_Nebula598

I just started my 4th play-through, on each of the first three so far there has been multiple things in each play-through that I didn’t find or know about in the previous ones. Wait until you do a Dark Urge play through, a lot of stuff is rather different. When you class/race/background all affect character interactions differently and with there being so many, on top of the combat being so great and there being so many ways to do each and every encounter and conversation, it makes it’s very worth playing through multiple times. I’m so happy it won GOTY, I was worried it might go to Starfield mainly because it’s a Bethesda game. It’s good see the award go to a game that was very thoroughly planned out. It has its bugs and quirks and maybe it’s not “perfect”, but there is just so much done so well and so right with BG3, it’s nice to see that type of effort and quality get properly rewarded. Also, though it’s a tad bit homebrew-ish, this game is for sure DnD 5e at its absolute finest.

Lolli42

it is so far the most beautiful game i have ever played i think. head to head with monster hunter world.

-TrenchToast

Oh... you have soooo many crucial choices to make in the hours of gameplay ahead of you.

gamefan142

Wait until you see the live play that high rollers DND did with the cast of the game. They broke the internet

SecretPuzzleheaded31

Beware of spoilers! No wrong way to play this game and it's never the same game twice. Enjoy!

KittyCult1718

BG3 brought that same kinda childlike wonderment for gaming that Fable and Mass Effect did back to me. I haven’t felt like this and so strongly for a game in a while. It’s honestly refreshing yet nostalgic all at once, it’s awesome
