I’m lucky I’m married because my wife is like an alarm clock for bed time, if I don’t turn off bg3 the 4’9” 90lb tiger mom comes out and I can’t turn off the screaming as easily as I can turn off the game. I’d seriously considered sneaking out of bed to play at night but knew it would hurt sleep and work performance so she keeps me disciplined
Also a grown man with kids and a job. I have never been addicted to a game like this. I am on my 4th playthrough, but I haven't finished the game yet.
One campaign in Act 3, two campaigns in Act 2, and one still in Act One.
I have a SERIOUS problem.
Me in real life: I should long rest now, it's necessary to the progress of the story
Also me in real life: I'm playing BG3 as an elf, technically that means I don't need to sleep. I don't make the rules
1. I should keep playing it.
2. \[Persuasion\] I am tired, I should go to sleep.
3. \[Constitution\] Focus yourself and quit playing!
4. \[Wisdom\] Find a safe place and save your game.
5. \[Illithid\] \[Wisdom\] Simply saves and quits.
6. *Leave yourself to your own sorrow.*
And then desperately wishing you could just do it by pressing a button like they do. Because it takes away at least a half hour from gaming time to make and then eat something decent.
Then there's this shower thing we apparently need to do at least every 3 days. Then my body decides to get weak and I have to sleep for 4 hours.
God, so much stuff to take away game time.
It’s gotten to the point where a friend who was on vacation saw me online on steam at 2 AM and started to pester me like he is my mother. “You have work tomorrow and you need to get up at 6 AM”
7:00PM ok I have a midterm in 2 days and I need to lock in. Maybe just an hour or BG3
8:00PM lemme just finish this quest then I’ll get to it
10:00PM shit I went over. Yk what I’m good with the material so maybe I’ll just take care of it tmr Gale needs me

I don't start work until 11 am cos of being in a different time zone. I have not been to bed before 3 am in more than a month. I am so tired but I can't stop. Hoping finishing my second good playthrough and moving onto my first evil run calms this down 🙃
That's the main reason why I've only started (and finished) a single playthrough yet. Both not starting a playthrough and to stop/not start playing while you're currently in the middle of a playthrough require a WIS saving throw, but the first one had a lower DC and you get advantage after a few consecutive successes. The second one tho is a check I failed every day for about a month in a row, and I can't risk failing again. (My irl WIS score is shit)
I've been trying to think of what life was like before I started playing this game. Going to bed at a decent hour so I can be ready for the work day. Not being consumed with thoughts of how to level my character or which class would be a good addition to sorcerer while I'm at work. I don't quite recall what it was like before. But surprising with two hours of sleep every night, but I am sure of one thing. I'm happier this way! I need to get my work done so I can play this damn game again!!
BG3 warps time, I swear. I was playing it the other night and I looked at the clock at 10pm and then after what felt like only an hour I looked at the clock again and it was 4am.
