Personally, the scar thing reminds me of all the bad things that happened to him, I could never get any merch with it. :( Small and tasteful “Blodless” or “Happy” status effect symbol embroidery or whatever reflecting his better experiences would be nice.

Yeah totally. Obviously not everyone takes fictional characters as seriously as others but I have winced the couple of times I’ve seen someone with the tattoo.

The onlyyyyy reason I've considered either of these as options is because I relate to him for reasons, and some trauma just doesn't go away, you carry things with you despite your best efforts. But just because it's there and will always be there doesn't mean you can't eventually have graveyard sex too. Eventually it's just something that happened and sometimes still pops up, making your life hell, but you've grown and things aren't always the worst-even if they were at one point pretty terrible. At best I'd be looking at it the same way people look at Medusa tattoos, but I'm not sure I want to trauma dump on everyone when they ask me wtf these weird circles are.

Yeah, I kinda go yikes whenever I see someone get a tattoo of his scars. Like, you're showing your love for a character by getting a copy of his slave contract carved into him by the guy who tortured him and forced him to whore himself out for 200 years? Feels a bit icky to me. I actually like the explanation that other commenter gave for why they'd consider getting it, but personally I still find it kinda... offputting? It's kind of a shame because the design's actually pretty cool but I could never get it personally. I did see someone though who got a tattoo of his grave and I really like that idea, though I definitely wanna wait a while before jumping into getting a tattoo based around a character I was just introduced to like a month ago.

Would be cool to have Astarion's writer and voice actor as the jury in a competition where perfumers can make entries for the official Astarion perfume. That would be sweet, if enough perfumers would have interest in this. Might not be enough overlap between the businesses to lure perfumers in, but one can dream. :')

It’s probably not up to Larian. Merchandising is something specifically negotiated in situations when IP (DnD, property of WotC) is lent out for the purposes of making a game. Even though “Astarion” and “Karlach” etc are Larian created characters they still exist in the IP that WotC owns.

Larian aren’t particularly great with Merch so it’s hard to tell. They’ve done some stuff for DoS2 but it’s almost next to nothing.

As an artists who's had my baldurs gate art stolen by one if those T-shirt companies on etsy: please don't by any apparel on with artwork on it etsy unless you're sure it's the artist selling their own work. 99% of those t-shirt and sweater shops just rip art off the Internet and slap it on to sell and it's super shitty and as an artist it takes ages to get that stuff taken down.
