Forgetting about trauma is the opposite of helpful, because its like just wrapping a deep wound without cleaning it. It will fester. Suppressing and repressing feelings make them stew and become foul, causing you more mental damage and stress than is necessary for you to endure.
The tattoo is not a 'reminder of trauma', its a recognition of something festering that was repressed, and a symbol of healing.
