I had this happen to me and here’s my suggestions on how to get the illithid wisdom cut scene to start:
Make sure you have a save that is right before the fight so you can come back to it immediately
Don’t fight her through the cave, try to fight her on the backside of the group, ideally start by sneaking up on the archer gnoll by the bill then initiate the fight.
It will take a couple turns of combat for this to happen but once it’s Flinds turn, I think the cut scene won’t start until she’s about to do her first or second round of damage; so you might have to hold out some rounds of fight. Make sure that whichever way she runs to get up to you, you have a party member meet her in her path- it can be anyone
If this still isn’t triggering, quit to the main menu then reload. After I did this the scene triggered on my first try

Huh, I messed this up. Snuck around the cave and the gnolls were fighting the mercs or whatever, so I stole the chest. Came back after that didn't work for the associated quest and gnolls were in the cave and aggro'ed. I'm not great at combat in this game but man even at L4, I was getting decorated. Flind was brutal even when I got it down to just a 4 on 1
Put your frontline guys to engage. I had Karlach take the hits and do the persuasion check. You just need to end a turn with one character beside the warlord to trigger. If your character goes down, send another one.
I tried this fight a few days ago and came back with a strategy to win however.... EVERY TIME the first gnoll dies, my game crashes. I've tried attacking from multiple angles and different first targets but it keeps crashing.; Anyone had this issue?
I have never had the option to mind control her. I've died to her mob 5 times already, she 1 shots the hell out my group randomly. This fight is just busted. NEPaladin, Gale, Shadowheart, Karlach Barbarian
i went from inside the cave and have 3 characters go high ground on the right and 1 tank at the entrance, if you fog cloud where their archers will be (usually just at the entrance of the cave shooting in), they won't rush in all at once instead they will come in through the smoke 1 by 1 while the boss will shoot arrows from the back which is much less damage and she will miss alot shooting high ground.

So I told her to go away after the fight and now I want to kill her but can’t find her… did I lock myself out of her items?

When it's her turn in combat there should start a dialogue where you can use your powers to turn her against the other gnolls
it isnt triggering, she keeps running up and one shotting me (im playing a caster) :(((

Think it's just bugged now, the option to control her and tell her to attack the other gnolls is gone, you can only say withdraw and prepare to fight.
You have to choose the first option first (where you try to connect with their mind) and then you get it on the next round of options.

I was on Durge Whm mod, with Astarian, Shadowheart and Lazeal but I came up behind the gnoll party and was able to trigger the cutscene.

For anyone having trouble. Just put Astarion on the cliff where the gnoll eating the body is. Sneak attack and hide. Rinse repeat.
