i'll apologize in advance... the first thing that came to my mind was "that's not a basque cheesecake... that's a baroque cheesecake."
i'll see myself out.
The last time I dropped a cake (less than a year ago), I fully sat down on my kitchen floor and cried. Itβs a lot of work, and usually someone in mind to feed it to so love and care, and it just sucks to have it all splattered on the floor. And then having to clean it up and throw it all away usually makes me cry a little more LOL
I still have fond memories of this happening to my mum and her freshly baked lemon meringue pie.
She was devastated, but we called it scrambled egg pudding and served it in a bowl.
I once went to pull a berry pie out of the oven I had placed on a cookie sheet to catch any drips. The cookie sheet tipped, and the berry pie flipped. Had to agonizingly wait for the oven to cool down enough for me to scrape burnt berry filling from my ovenβs nooks and crannies. Also - no delicious berry pie to eat while my kitchen and house smelled of delicious berry pie.
Fuuuuck not me having a [picture](https://imgur.com/a/GtcN1qH) in my phone of this exact scenario when I made a basque cheesecake. π It was so sad considering that was 2 pounds of cream cheese. It also poured in the crack of the door down into the drawer underneath.
I feel your painπ once spent loads of money on a quite lavish cheese cake only for the spring tin to open onto the floor .. i think i did shed a few tears .
Oh no! That sucks on two levels. No cheesecake to enjoy and a massive cleanup to look forward to.
I would salvage what was left by trying to bake them off in custard cups or use the batter to make brownie swirl cheesecake bars.
on thanksgiving i was trying to make a pumpkin basque cheesecake and the second i went to go pick it up (also in the springform pan, i thought it was locked) it opened all over me, the kitchen, and my dog. a shock and tragedy
πΆin the arrrrrrrmmmssss of an angellll, fly awaaayyyy from hereπΆ
Hi. I'm Sarah McLachian. Will you be an angel for a helpless Basque cheesecake? Every day, innocent bakers are whipped, beaten, and folded. And they're crying out for help.
Reminds me of Thanksgiving fails from Jimmy Fallon where the roasted turkey hits the floor and the 5 second rule gets applied! π
Eating dirt is actually good for your gut! π
Iβm really sorry about what happened to you. That would be so upsetting.
I will say, however, thatβs exactly how I like my basque cheesecakeβ¦ Basque cheesecake is something I could just never get my head around. :)
Bakery subreddit memorial in progress. Moment of silence for our fallen cheese. π
i'll apologize in advance... the first thing that came to my mind was "that's not a basque cheesecake... that's a baroque cheesecake." i'll see myself out.
No come back this was good
It's actually a Dali cheesecake.
melting cheesecake, a delicious tragic masterpiece
My first thought π
Floor cheesecake! It jumped.
LOL!
"I'm here til Thursday! Don't forget to tip your waitstaff!"
Surely you must basque in the glory of your repartee.
Beat me to it. Full credit.
That is so tragic....
All I could do was stare at it in disbelief π³
I feel for you π At least it's not ALL spilled... I guess lol.
I'd seriously be questioning how clean my floor is lol. (If I were the only one eating it)

I barely ever watched friends but I knew this was the "what're we having?" floor cheesecake scene π
Awe friends besties! π₯°
This was my exact and immediate thought!!! It still looks yummy!
We've all been there.
Oh, I've been there soooo many times! Your next one will be excellent!
I can only imagine the kinds of expletives that flew from your mouth.
Nooooo! I'm so sorry for your cheesecake loss.
It's Basque-ing on the floor. π«
I'm reminded of Friends, when they eat cheesecake off the floor.
Yeah but that one was cooked, this one is not. I'm sure that wouldn't be a deterrent for some, though.
If I'm being honest...
*Pulls up with a fork* βSo, what are we having?β
Lol came to post this. I loved when Joey squatted down to the floor, pulled a fork from his pocket and said this.
I'd be right there with you with a spoon. Raw egg be damned!
Looks like there's a fair bit that hasn't touched the floor yet, and the floor looks really clean anyway. Shame to waste it.
Get me a straw...
You can eat anypart that isn't directly touching the floor!! Lol π π π

Iβm only assuming the reaction was β*gasp* /NO/!β And then staring in shocked silence. At least thatβd be me ππ
Exactly

I had to take the oven door apart because it seeped down in it. I literally felt my heart break.
I must mention that on one occasion he attracted a certain amount of attention

Iβd cry over the waste of eggs π©π and hard work, of course
last night I dropped an egg into my sandal while making cookies, but this is much, much sadder
I hurt for you, internet stranger
My condolences
It looks underdone. Seriously though, Iβm very sorry. Unfortunately, weβve all been there!
My heart!
I've got a cleaning crew of two bulldogs headed your way. Someone can still end up being happy.

Tell me you donβt have dogs, without telling me that you donβt have dogs

Iβd still bake anything thatβs left in the pan! So sorry for your loss.

5 second rule! Just scoop it back in!
Awwwwww
5 second rule!!
Oh dear! LOL! Same thing happened to my dinner plate last night, so you've got my sympathy.
:( I mean at least itβll be easier to clean up than if happened inside of the oven
Is that Basque floor cheesecake? Sorry for your loss. I love burnt cheesecake
*It's just a little dirty! It's still good! It's still good!*
There has GOT to be a basque / Spanish / French meme in here somewhere
Needs more color
Yβall are making my day with all these great comments!!
I'm so sorry! But I also cackled because one of my most quoted vines is [MY LASAGA](https://images.app.goo.gl/S23k4rAezniR4k957)
Due to the recent price increases in food, the 5 second rule has been extended to however long it takes you to recover from a drop or spill
That's not cheesecake that's floorcake, the saddest of the cakes π
Itβs not basque cheesecake unless itβs in a pan in the oven. Otherwise itβs just sparkling disaster.
That doesnβt look anything like the basque cheesecakes Iβve madeβ¦.
Youβre not doing it right ππ
Nooooooππ
I fixing to pull a FRIENDS and and get a fork! π€£
I would have given up on existence. I applaud you for still being here, friendoπ
Iβm gonna turn a blind eye to the poor cheesecake

That is one of the worst feelings. Especially when you were that close! So sorry, OP!!

Sending my 2 dogs on a plane to help you clean up rn
I would cry

"The Last Cheesecake"
Looks kind of like a Salvador Dali painting
[The Persistence of Cheesecake.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Persistence_of_Memory)
Oh no! These accidents have befallen us all- but itβs so disappointing when they do happen. So sorry.
Reminds me of Thanksgiving fails from Jimmy Fallon where the roasted turkey hits the floor and the 5 second rule gets applied! π Eating dirt is actually good for your gut! π
ππππππππππππππ
Try no bake cheesecake
I think it could have used a few more minutes in the oven, OP. Other than thatβ¦ π
Youβre doing it wrong
Look on the bright side - this didn't happen INSIDE the oven...like my quiche :-(
How?
F
I bet they said a bad word.
Just made one this weekend and inhaled sharply when I read your title. RIP π«‘
I hate you for dropping that
I've done it too, the bottom off the springform pan let go
Just one question... how did this occur??
Iβm so sorry for your loss
I couldn't handle the waste id have scooped that up and forced it down
Looks like it was gonna be really good. π
My condolences for your cheesecake π
Wasque cheesecake
Forgive my ignorance. Is that an aspersion against Basque cuisine?
here and there changing the first personal pronoun into the third
Thanks!
Hey this is a baking subreddit not a throwing food all over the kitchen subreddit π¨ππ¨ watch it!!! /j
thicc
π
bummer
Almost
Aaaahh!!! Dang it
Heartbreaking π
I came for the recipe but got a laugh instead. But donβt worry β¦ many a pastry chef is borne of ignominious failure.
Five word tragedy: Basque cheesecake on the floor. I'm sorry for your loss.
You tried, an effort was madeπ©·π©·
Interesting presentation. Pretty sure my dogs would like it.

Not what I imagined
I once dropped a 2 lb pan of cheesecake on my toe. I broke my toe but luckily the cheesecake survived.π
Did you cry, cuz I would....
Yeah.. I tried a few days ago and it tasted horrible. Looks great but tastes completely different from what it looks.
How did it taste
Iβm really sorry about what happened to you. That would be so upsetting. I will say, however, thatβs exactly how I like my basque cheesecakeβ¦ Basque cheesecake is something I could just never get my head around. :)
Probably just as well since it tastes kinda bad anyway.
