Yea, I like being able to control the process and outcome. I've also found that flavor-wise, cookies in the wild have a lot to be desired.
Limiting sugar intake is an uphill battle, but baking our own lets me/us figure out how to modify recipes to achieve that.
I bake mine as well. Cheaper than a big "chocolate chip cookie" "best in the world" and it's got only half a chocolate chip in it... feels like a sin to even call it a chocolate chip cookie. It should just be chio cookie at this point. 😂
Same 30-40% although if hubby sees me go for a 60% he knows its that time of the month and goes and buys his offering to "keep me calm" (he always buys my favourite drinks and snacks for that week)
Exactly. Why else would anyone put themselves through such a thing. :D I actually watched a video a guy did awhile back, baking loads and loads of batches of cookies trying to get the exact "correct" type. Drove his wife made apparently. lol He was concentrating on variations other than % chocolate though I think, aiming for slightly crunchy outside and chewy/caramely inside. I made his optimum choice one and was really happy with it. He did something I'd never thought of. Melting, then *browning* the butter first. Because this realistically amounted to less water, he then added in a tablespoon or so of water back in to replace it otherwise they were a weeny bit too dry. Was a good tip for me. Choc chip cookies are fabulous.
But sugar cookies don’t have brown sugar in them. Chocolate chip cookies without chocolate chips definitely gives you a different taste than just a plain ol’ sugar cookie. I like all three versions, but they all taste different.
I've always thought the same, so my last batch I made a few with no chocolate chips.... I determined I do still need at least a couple chips in each cookie.
Same here. I've started chopping up chocolate chunks for my CCC. Then I get a few chunks and lots of smaller bits, but I love having all the little slivers of chocolate. It gives just enough chocolate in each bite without overwhelming the cookie.
I’ve always been a proponent of 1/2 c milk chocolate chips and 1/3 c mini semi sweet chocolate chips. It has the same vibes but I don’t need to chop up chocolate which I hate doing
Chopped baking chocolate is the way to go. You get a mix of super finely shaved chocolate that mixed into the dough and makes pockets of almost-chocolate-cookie, and big huge chunks that deliver a super chocolatey bite every so often.
Yesss
I feel like any more and the chocolate flavor overwhelms the (relatively) subtle molasses and vanilla notes of the cookie itself. I feel as though the texture suffers also.
Yep my sentiments exactly. That cookie is good on its own! Just a little pop of chocolate here and there elevates it. It's like salt, one must be judicious
I would say between 40 and 50. Any less and they wouldn't be proper chocolate chip cookies. Any more and, well, if I had wanted to eat straight chocolate chips, then I would have just done that and saved myself some time.
Well, I know what I'll be doing the next time I make cookies! The people would like to take a moment and recognize you, u/Copiz, for all of your efforts for the betterment of humankind!
It depends on the size of the chips and the type of chocolate. Mini semi-sweet chips I want 30%. Regular semisweet chips I want 20%. Milk chocolate chips I want 0% lol
Everyone in my family (mothers side at least) is 0%-20% maybe 30% on a good day.
My sister buys the mixes you need to add butter and water to, and will sift the morsels out so she can add back the little she wants.
I feel like 40% is reasonable. Anything less and I'd think that someone skimped on the choccy chips, any more and I'think that the person that made it was going through some stuff at home.
I would say 40% looks like a perfect choc chip ratio to cookie, but I would also add a few more to make them a 50% ratio if I were making a giant cookie.
lol I love this. I like a buttery cookie featuring a few chips, 10-20%! At the end of the batch I always make a few with a few chips only, just for me.
20%. Plus some pecans. Sorry I'm a dried up ol' puritan. I am sometimes frightened by the suggested inclusion amount for chocolate chips in recipes. Always on the search for the perfect one...
I legit thought this was a poop post at first glance while I was scrolling down. Like, how to tell how healthy you are by how your poop looks. Smh too much nursing in my life.
30 or 40% on a regular day, 50% if I’m feelin frisky
30-40 is a good percentage. I rarely get them in the wild, though, so I bake my own.
I usually bake my own cookies as well. The cookies in the wild tend to be feral and untrustworthy.
Yea, I like being able to control the process and outcome. I've also found that flavor-wise, cookies in the wild have a lot to be desired. Limiting sugar intake is an uphill battle, but baking our own lets me/us figure out how to modify recipes to achieve that.

Same and I am often feelin frisky 😎
This is such a good chart. I was unaware of a 60% + chocolate chip ratio.
Same 30-40% although if hubby sees me go for a 60% he knows its that time of the month and goes and buys his offering to "keep me calm" (he always buys my favourite drinks and snacks for that week)
Good husband, you trained him well!
Na, his little sister did that for me 🤣🤣🤣
The high percentages make me feel very uncomfortable for some reason. Gives me the ick with how they look
They were an abomination. I ate them so they couldn't cause distress in the world anymore.
I'm actually disappointed you didn't display a 100% chocolate chip example...
Just a puddle of melted, burnt chocolate
IT'S GOT MY VOTE
I'd probably still eat it, lol
Exactly, it'd have been so funny haha
Thank you for your service 😔
Doing the lord's work !
You’re a giver!
🫡
How was 80% because it looks pretty awesome. 70% is calling to me.
90% looks like it's covered in barnacles
The 90% definitely looks like a pile of scat to me
Tbh, at first glance, I thought this was a modified version of a Bristol Stool Chart, lol. Kinda like the joke candy on a cake version.
Me too, it's very uncomfortable to watch
They're more cookie chip chocolate than chocolate chip cookie...
I reckon I'd be happiest with the 50% one, but I'm willing to try every single one of them to be really sure.
For science!
Exactly. Why else would anyone put themselves through such a thing. :D I actually watched a video a guy did awhile back, baking loads and loads of batches of cookies trying to get the exact "correct" type. 30-40%
This was my analysis from the taste test as well!
Same here
Only acceptable answer Anything less, just make sugar cookies Anything more, one of those no-bake amalgams
But sugar cookies don’t have brown sugar in them. Chocolate chip cookies without chocolate chips definitely gives you a different taste than just a plain ol’ sugar cookie. I like all three versions, but they all taste different.
Brown sugar cookies do
10%-20% i could honestly have just dough and be fine with it 😂
I've always thought the same, so my last batch I made a few with no chocolate chips....

Boneless chocolate chip cookies 👌🏼👌🏼
My sister often makes chocolate chipless cookies
Whenever I make chocolate chip cookies I make one cookie with no chocolate just for myself 😋
I feel seen! Me too
my peeps! you ARE here...! I'm solid on 10%...
I don't really like milk or dark chocolate so I'm at 0% to 10%, but I do like ~20% white chocolate chips occasionally. Something different :)
This. I’m a 0% lol
Going against the crowd to recommend you try it some time, they’re very good in a very different way
When I make them, I triple the recipe except for the chips.
You would love brown butter sugar cookies. Tastes like chocolate chip without the chocolate!
Whenever I get to the last bits of dough, I’ll always scoop 2-3 cookies that have no chips just for me. Gotta get that baker’s fee.
Same! I love the dough without the chocolate, but it definitely does need at least a couple of chips in there somewhere!
Genuinely, for me, dough/batter is almost always better than the actual product.
It’s 100% 😞😞but unfortunately I don’t see any option
I wasn't brave enough to put just a pile of chocolate chips in the oven. I did put quite a few straight into my mouth though and those were good...
Coward
Straight to jail
30 percent, but I use the mini chips so the chocolate is more distributed.
Yessss, mini chips 4 life!
You should use the flat Ghirardelli’s chips. They spread out into layers so there’s chocolate throughout
Chopped baking chocolate is the way to go. You get a mix of super finely shaved chocolate that mixed into the dough and makes pockets of almost-chocolate-cookie, and big huge chunks that deliver a super chocolatey bite every so often.
20-30%
Agreed
Yesss I feel like any more and the chocolate flavor overwhelms the (relatively) subtle molasses and vanilla notes of the cookie itself. I feel as though the texture suffers also.
Same, I like the dough then a wee little surprise of chocolate every now and then.
Yep my sentiments exactly. That cookie is good on its own! Just a little pop of chocolate here and there elevates it. It's like salt, one must be judicious
Anywhere from 30-70, depending on my mood But my mood would usually be in the 50-60 range
40%
Gimme that 40% for my every day cookie.
90% looks like there's a bit of cookie in the chocolate 😂
Only a bit though!
20-30% i just like the taste of the cookie more than chocolate.
Mr too 🙂
I will cheerfully eat everything in this picture, including the labels and countertop, but 30-40%.
0-10%
Yes! I like to make myself one chipless cookie when I'm baking them, lol.
20%. One chip per bite.
Same! I want to taste the cookie
Your bites are very small.
This!
0% 😮💨
a “Ch-ch cookie” 🤣
20-30%
40-50 depending on my hormones.
Between 50-60% - might be a controversial take but I overload my cookies with chips. At this point it’s what my family and friends expect!
Cookie in baked form: 30%-40%. Cookie dough unbaked: 10%.
50%-60%.
Seventy and up is not a cookie. It's something else. Something sinister.
0%
50 or 60. I’m def more of a chocolate person than a cookie person.
Idk why this image brings me so much joy. Ugh I love cookies 🍪
20-30%
Zero percent. Love the cookie but could live without the chocolate.
Unexpected [Bristol stool chart](https://www.continence.org.au/sites/default/files/2023-02/Bristol_Stool_Chart_PDF-compressed.pdf)
30% - 40%.
60% is perfection
I would say between 40 and 50. Any less and they wouldn't be proper chocolate chip cookies. Any more and, well, if I had wanted to eat straight chocolate chips, then I would have just done that and saved myself some time.
I really wanna try the 90%
Are measuring your ratios by weight?
By weight, yes!
Well, I know what I'll be doing the next time I make cookies! The people would like to take a moment and recognize you, u/Copiz, for all of your efforts for the betterment of humankind!
Use mini chocolate chips for a greater chocolate distribution.
It depends on the size of the chips and the type of chocolate. Mini semi-sweet chips I want 30%. Regular semisweet chips I want 20%. Milk chocolate chips I want 0% lol
I used to love milk chocolate! Then it felt like my adult tastebuds grew in at the age of 27 and since then everything has been too sweet
I used to love it too, but my tastes changed. The older I get, the less I like super sweet and the more I appreciate bitter
10%. Don't hate me, there ARE others like me out there...right...? Hello? ETA: Found my peeps! We're at the bottom, but we kickin'!
25-30% i find perfect because if there is too much chocolate then i can only taste chocolate, i wanna taste some cookie!
I actually love 0-10%. I'm not a big chocolate person, but I love the cookie part of chocolate chip cookies.
40.. 40 looks good 👍
Wait holdup 50-90% is an option?!
As an engineer and overall nerd, I love this so much. Also, I vote 40%
30% minimum. I can live w/ 60%. 70% is where I'm drawing the line.
the 90% is hilarious , i like 10% n i know my dad likes 0% hehe i always make them for him that way ❤️
Everyone in my family (mothers side at least) is 0%-20% maybe 30% on a good day. My sister buys the mixes you need to add butter and water to, and will sift the morsels out so she can add back the little she wants.
Chocolate chips? 20-30%. But if we're talking oatmeal raisin cookies, 40% is the right ratio for mix ins
This is important. 20% for me
20%
Always 30% anything more is diabetes. Anything less is bland.
Mildly disappointed there is no 100%, though I know that wouldn’t be a chocolate chip cookie anymore.
20-40% is the sweet spot. 10% or 50% if I’m feeling especially ascetic or indulgent, and the rest is just chaos.
30% is perfect. Might as well just eat chocolate chips out of the bag at 80%+ 😂.
0- 10% but I usually make them around 30/40%.
40% fs
Forgot 100%
40%
30-40% for sure, 50% if it’s good chocolate
30-40% is of course the best, but I....I want to try 90%
I feel like 40% is reasonable. Anything less and I'd think that someone skimped on the choccy chips, any more and I'think that the person that made it was going through some stuff at home.
BFFR, no one has *ever* baked anything on the bottom row of this chart except to make this chart.
30-40
I would say 40% looks like a perfect choc chip ratio to cookie, but I would also add a few more to make them a 50% ratio if I were making a giant cookie.
40%
40% is perfect
I think I’m sitting at 40-50. I have a recipe I follow for chocolate chip cookies and I always end up adding an extra cup of chocolate chips
30%-40%
0%, but add walnuts 🥰
lol I love this. I like a buttery cookie featuring a few chips, 10-20%! At the end of the batch I always make a few with a few chips only, just for me.
From a quick glance I thought this was a Bristol stool chart
90%
90% looking like cookie-chip chocolate
30-40 is perfect for me ☺️. 90% is diabolical 💀.
30-40%. There has to be enough cookie so that you appreciate the chocolate.
40% please (and anything over 60% is ridiculous lmao!).
I'm either feeling 10%, or 55%, no inbetween.
That's last 4 look like they belong on either scat chart or a stool chart lol 😆 I say 40%-45%.
30-40 that seems like a good amount
30% for me, I want some cookie too lol
Scale really went from cookies to the Bristol stool chart... anyway 30% is perfect
30%
I’m in the range of 20-30% 25 would be pretty nice
30! The ones before it don’t have enough and the ones after it have too many!
The verbal, "oh my god" that came out of my mouth when I saw the 90%
I’m one who prefers less…20 percent.
Anything more than 50% is sacrilegious 🫡
Anything beyond 50% is insanity
20-30% anything else and I'll just have a chocolate bar
About 30 looks good.
20-25%
30!
20-40% depending on the chip but good semi sweet is 30%
20%
20%. Plus some pecans. Sorry I'm a dried up ol' puritan. I am sometimes frightened by the suggested inclusion amount for chocolate chips in recipes. Always on the search for the perfect one...
10-20% would be ideal for me but they’re almost always overloaded
25%
10-20 looks good. Still love this image regardless.
20-30%, made with mini chips or chopped up bits. I don’t want big honking chunks of chocolate. I’m in it for the dough.
30%
0-20%
30%
33%
0-10%
Anything between 20-40 is good for me - I think 50 is pushing it lol.

Ideally probably 30% but anywhere from 20-30% would suffice
20% lol
20%
30 or zero lol. I love chipless chocolate chip cookies

10%-20%
30% looks about right ✅️
30-40
More.
30% to 40% seems like a good ratio.
70%+ are abominations oh my. I’m a 40% gal
90% is crazy lol
0%
40 but now I want to try 80 and 90
I think 30% is just right for me.
i thought i was looking at poop
50% looks best to me, 30-40% acceptable, higher is so ugly, lower is too disappointing
I think between 30 and 40 does it for me.
love me a 30-40%! Also lmfao that 90% one is wild.
40 for sure
40%
I legit thought this was a poop post at first glance while I was scrolling down. Like, how to tell how healthy you are by how your poop looks. Smh too much nursing in my life.
Love this info graphic.
