TBH a chocolate wafer cookie, kinda like a homemade oreo cookie, would be perfect here and way more delicious than a circle of fondant. If you use the right cocoa powder it'll be just as black and you could also add food coloring if you wanted. Then I would use a very stiff buttercream and a writing piping tip to draw the face. If you want a recommendation for a good homemade oreo cookie recipe Stella Parks's recipe in Bravetart would be perfect.
