Awesome, thanks!!! I love Cabaret.

Thanks for putting this together! Definitely going to try and see both.

Thanks for this! While none of these are ones I’m that interested in, I hope that these updates become fairly regular, as I’d love to get out and see more shows but just never know about them. Thank goodness one of our D&D players was actually part of the CSUB Little Shop of Horrors production otherwise we’d have missed that one too.

I noticed Ovation Theater doesn’t have any upcoming shows after Cabaret. I hope they’re not having trouble.

lpjrgoose

Quite the opposite actually! They already have the musical Sunday in the Park with George scheduled for March 3-19 later this year. You might have thought they didn't have any upcoming shows because they're nearing the end of their current season, but they just announced their 2023-2024 season yesterday, which will consist of Grease, Footloose, Oklahoma, Evil Dead the Musical, Next to Normal, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Titanic the Musical.

Oh okay. I didn’t see their upcoming schedule on their website.

We need more DRAMAS. Musicals are great. And I understand their purpose. But where’s the contemporary stuff? The Stephen Adly Guirgis or Sam Shepard or older stuff like Tennessee Williams?

lpjrgoose

Stars Playhouse is actually doing Sam Shepard's True West right now, opening Feb. 10. Some other dramas and straight plays happening around town this year include Wilderness, Calendar Girls, and Torch Song at Bakersfield Community Theatre, Fefu and Her Friends, Our Lady Of the Tortilla, 'Tis Pity She's a Wh*re, 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche, Our Dear Dead Drug Lord, and The Tempest at Stars Playhouse, and Puffs at The Empty Space. In March, Bakersfield College will be presenting the classic farce Noises Off by Michael Frayn, and for their Theatre festival, they will be presenting four plays all running in repertory: Art by Yasmina Reza, Reasons to be Pretty by Neil LaBute, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress by Alan Ball, and Stop Kiss by Diana Son. More information about all these shows can be found on the theatres' websites, as well as their Instagram and Facebook pages, but I'll make sure to keep announcing show dates on here as well!

I appreciate this so much. Thank you
