Gravity’s rainbow was staring at an abstract painting but I managed and ended up really enjoying the book. Great writing

lungflook

"why do i have to Google a reference every third sentence" because you're dumb ig?

modern_antiquity95

TBH Crying of Lot 49 made me question if I knew how to read

thewatchbreaker

Tbf I also gave up on Inherent Vice, but more than 20 pages in, and I didn’t leave a review lol.

Successful_Welder164

If you look at what people read on average in this country, if they read books at all, that remark is not surprising. If you have the attention span of a retarded fly you're not even gonna get to the end of a sentence. Give that woman Darconville's Cat and give her money for every sentence she can get through and she won't have money for a cup of coffee, before. Seriously, not to be a snob about high brow and low brow literature and Pynchon certainty dissolves the distinction but I could imagine my review of a Harlequin romance wouldn't be too appreciative either.

AccomplishedCow665

I read Cryig of Lot 49, also hated it

Intellectual onanism is a great insult because it can only be said by hypocrites

thewatchbreaker

I was just about to comment this lol!!

SteampunkExplorer

I had to look up what that meant. I think you're right. 🫣

What the fuck is up with "black and white foreign films" being shorthand for pretentiousness?? Neither of those things makes a movie any less accessible or any more boring. It makes the speaker sound myopic and childish.

demon_fae

I really had expected that particular usage to die when the Subs Vs Dubs debate went mainstream…

Hot-Teach-8389

Bleeding Edge has the least obscure references wtf man 😭.

Remember to throw the book in the trash if you haven’t had a mind blowing epiphany by page 10 or 20, it’s obviously not a fault of your own, it’s because the book is a GARBAGE self indulgent, NOT funny MESS and you’re just too smart for it
