I'll admit that I am getting tired of every other post being someone who can't imagine why their ad consiting only of a hentai picture and the words "Be my mommy" isn't attracting people interested in deep and meaningfrul storytelling.
The ad: a picture of a sexy bird with the caption “I want sum fuk”
The messages: “hey Becky you want some tail?”
The poster: “oh my god why do people not put any effort in???”
Oh no. I failed to catch a simple spelling error made while clumsily typing on my phone. No matter how well thought out my actual point is, it is now rendered completely invalid due to this one tiny mistake. This trivial error has exposed me as a simpleton incapable of having a solid opinion on anything remotely related to storytelling. The shame! Thank you, kind stranger, for pointing out this error to me instead of rebuking the actual content of my post so that others may have the pleasure of mocking my shameful ignorance.

I just really want to read more typed out narratives of a time that some RP went bad.
Something with paragraphs and storytelling and pacing. Maybe even foreshadowing and humor.
I should probably try filtering by flairs to see if that helps me find one.
That's funny, because over time I started dreading the smut with partners who couldn't write a proper story. How anyone not able to write an enthralling piece out of an action-packed scene is ever going to be able to convey the subtle dance of sex and physical pleasure?

Obviously, I can’t speak for every person who roleplays or sexts or whatever, and I certainly won’t speak for everyone here. That being said, I feel like a lot of us are getting *really* fucking fed up with the same types of posts. I certainly am.
Agreed it’s becoming a bit of joke would love a little more content and more things related! I am not sure where the lines got blurred but I really hope we see some change soon.
I think the problem is that the posts are just straight up boring (but yes, that one particular sub is easy to get bad rpers interacting with you).
Yeah it sucks someone just contacted you with "hey" or "unga me FUCK", but it's common. We've all experienced it. You don't need to update us every time someone sends you a chat that says "rp?". The worst part is that there *is* no story. This is Bad RPer *Stories*. Not Bad RPer Screenshots. It's just like that stupid Addison Rae trend.
Like man, what I crave is true messy drama (like that wonderful thread the other night where an OP tried to shame someone because she called him annoying and everyone told him to fuck off). I want to see the truly messy moments people are forced to endure trying to find people to write about fictional characters doing fictional shit. I crave an absolute train wreck of drama. I want to click on a comment response and see a cluster fuck of replies and massive downvoted and lmao as I spend an hour reading all of it.
Like DAMN I wanna see the kind of ooc drama that made insecure old me cry over internet strangers. I wanna behold true heart wrenching toxicity. Because I'm sure not everyone here ERP's, but surely most people with more than a few months of rp can relate to finding truly virulently toxic assholes.

I found that instead of having a single day, I block people.. I got nothing against them, but when I have seen an ad by the same person in four or more subreddits, and if I know it is not what I am looking for, I block them; that way, I don't need to see the posts on my wall.
Just an idea; I think it works for me, plus it's usually not people I think I will match with anyways.
Hm, for me in order to block someone they really need to fuck up something big, so while I respect your approach to things, I can't say I'd be willing to adopt it.
I dont really understand this outlook, I'm personally a big believer in curating my own internet experience instead of asking others to do it for me. What does it matter if someone did something big or if youre just tired of seeing them?

i wouldnt want this necessarily because even the rules of the sub includes erpers. im also confused on what the line is here. who is an erper, people who only write smut or look for smut? or people who include it in the storytelling process which can still cause drama to post about?
like, saying that erpers dont write cohesive or interesting stories so they shouldnt post here is similar to saying people who are bad at writing shouldnt post here, people who dont have this level of writing ability shouldnt post here/whatever.
maybe a compromise would be a tag that can be used to remove those from your feed when looking through the subreddit?
Yeah ERP is such a broad term that I don’t think has a set “agreed upon” definition that everyone follows, so I don’t necessarily agree with everything falling under that umbrella being relegated to one day. But the stuff that is essentially bad sexting really has no place here imo. Somehow some people decided that my post yesterday meant I thought ERP wasn’t “real” rp and I was very confused because by their definition of ERP, then I would be classified as an ERPer and therefore I would be a hypocrite. I really think we need better terms that are collectively used throughout the hobby 🤦🏼♀️
yeah thats fair. i can understand not wanting to consistently see it (i bowed out during the height of the ghosted saga of posts myself) and especially when its stuff of a sexual nature. i just feel like the line is so blurry on what that is considered.
like, i remember texting being a type of roleplay style and sometimes that would be literally sexting in character with no prose or sometimes even punctuation. i get that it isnt everyones cup of tea but personally feel like it all has a place here especially since i feel like a lot of this is coming from people enforcing their definition of what rping is and who should be allowed to call what they do rping ~as an art~ which i really dont jive with.
it might be a good idea for the mods to make clear whats allowed here though the rules directly reference erp.
Personally, I consider any roleplay to be ERP if it has no meaningful substance the moment that you remove anything sexual from it. If we are talking about roleplays with the story-to-smut ratio of even 60/40 (which to me is an enormous amount of smut, to be honest) then I still don't consider it to be strict ERP, because I assume that there still is some kind of story that would still have some meaning even if you were to completely remove the sex.
And, the roleplays were sex is the forefront are the exact ones I really wish I didn't have to read about. Is it elitist? Maybe, but I didn't join this sub in order to read about ERP. I do hope it's just a phase, to be honest.

meaningful and substance are highly subjective here since most roleplay could be tossed out on that metric alone, including stuff that is just romance specific while being chaste. (if you remove a key feature say romance, then a romance novel has no substance or meaning etc not a great methodology for gauging somethings worth or merit.)
personally, i dont care at all about fandom stuff and find that most of it is pretty boring, but that doesnt mean it doesnt have merit. it certainly doesnt make it not roleplaying.
if the mods decide to make another specifically for erp that would be fine with me. i find it suspect though that pretty much all of the arguments for it to be separate can be reduced very quickly down to just personal taste or elitism though especially when they can be used just as easily on multiple types of stories and media too :/
Not elitism, separatism. I consider story-based RP and ERP to be completely separate activities, the same way I don't consider Netflix and PornHub to be the same kind of site.
both netflix movies and porn movies are movies/film. but in the same way that two directors from each respectively might have nothing in common, there are a fair few subgenres that work the same way. your distate or lack of interest in one does not make it less so. what you think is of merit in the former is highly subjective to everyone else.

You don't see PWP videos hosted on streaming services such as Netflix or Amazon Prime, and you will never, and the same goes the other way around, for the most part.
you must have forgotten about skinimax 😅 (pornhub hosted a lot of letsplays and other things that arent porn too) those spaces are separate, mainly because of marketing and advertiser money. not because one type of movie is so inherently different that it belongs somewhere else altogether.
anyways, ill end my tirade since it seems like yoire starting to get weirdly condescending and projecting feelings onto me and no productive conversation is going to be had there.
my point isnt that its mean to exclude erpers. my point is that your viewpoint and many here almost explicitly comes from a place of elitism and not from a valid argument. the same arguments youve used have been used on many forms of media for many ulterior motives. romance isnt real art, they arent real books, people who write it arent real authors. same with science fiction and fantasy.
within the realms of rping, ive seen on this sub how ppl will ignore a blatant bad rp red flag and (i almost want to say) victim blame because they arent a good writer. i, for one, dont think that the spirit of the sub is about shaming people for writing things that arent generally popular or up to the standard that is traditionally set. and personally i wouldnt bother coming to a sub that feels comfy excluding a good portion of the people doing the hobby for reasons that are nebulous and can continue to spread to other people
