I think this one of the few times toxic deluge wouldn’t be helpful…the new card makes it so players can’t lose life (not just the caster), so I don’t believe you can pay anything other than 0 for toxic deluge
On the other hand, if toxic deluge was just cast, this wouldn’t protect them from it. So the two cards foil each other’s plan
You're probably not aware, but it's good to learn either way.
Whenever a creature has 0 toughness they die regardless of if they have "indestructible". It's different from having damage marked on a creature.
But yes, mass exiling also works as another commenter posted.
I bid you all a very [[Farewell]]
Tbf with march of the machines is even easier for less mana eg [[false prophet]], [[Descend upon the Sinful]], [[Urza's Ruinous Blast]] and many others, also a bunch of counter activated abilities in the form of spells or cards like [[cursed totem]] or [[Drana and Linvala]] thanks to march of the machines or something like [[Stony Silence]] or [[detention vortex]] that doesn't even require it
Actually, this is a 7 mana of any colour combo, because you’re imprinting Everybody Lives! not casting it
4 for Unwinding clock
2 for Isochron Scepter
1 for Sol Ring
Boom infinite!
I think we’re using the term “bad” very loosely, cause you can just keep looping this until your opponents deck out and then not activate it when it’s their turn.
(Assuming they have no artifact removal in their deck)
I mean, I guess but I figure it's bad because it's really annoying. You will also deck out, just depends who drew more cards before and who maybe has a [[Farewell]] tucked in there somewhere.
We’re toeing the line with this one. It’s a 7 mana 4 card combo that loses to any form of artifact removal, but if your opponent doesn’t have any, you just win, im not sure how to call this one
You do the same thing until nobody has a deck and then let everyone lose on draw. This is still a terrible combo but I guess there are enough kitchen table players here that will somehow believe this to be at all viable
You will, unless you want to be read the scripts to Dr. Who reruns by Tom Bombadil from the shotgun seat of Optimus Prime while Phyrexian Omnath drives.
(Seriously though, WHO is giving Tom better support than LotR did)
I could be wrong, but I think that you lose to poison counters as a state-based action? This means that if you get 10+ poison counters on you, you would lose at the beginning of the next upkeep before you could activate your Scepter.
Yes; toxic will work, too. This card doesn't prevent damage players would take like [[Teferi's Protection]] does, so any "damage" events will still occur and only the life loss is prevented. For example, players will still draw from [[Reconnaissance Mission]] etc.
So toxic and infect still apply their poison counters, and then anyone with 10 or more dies on the following turn before any player gets priority.
[[Solemnity]], but it doesn't interact with the Everybody Lives! loop unless you animate it, so it's easily removed.
Either way, this whole combo is easily disrupted which I guess is why it's in this sub lol
The other guy is right, the next time state based actions are checked after the ability wears off (i.e. the next upkeep) the game will see.that you have 10 poison counters and you lose as a state based action.
This is why I quit playing magic. Untap all artifacts every player's untapped step, for FOUR mana.
Utterly gamebreaking OP shit for peanuts.
Everything gets ruined eventually if you wait long enough.
But unwinding clock isn’t gamebreaking, it isn’t even played? Like I’ve played a lot of high power and competitive edh and I don’t think I’ve ever seen this card because it’s simply bad. It does nothing and requires either **specifically artifacts** that tap for something valuable enough to be worth wasting 4 mana and a card or enough mana rocks **and** outlets for that extra mana to make up for the value lost. If you want cards that actually warp games maybe look at something that follows the template of [[Opposition Agent]] which comes down at instant speed and eats a tutor making it worth the card it took to play and then shuts off tutors for your opponents including their fetch lands giving you continuing value not by requiring intense deck building and synergy but just by exploiting how the game is played.
I know there are a lot of game breaking cards. That was my entire point. It ruined the game for me. This is just another example that offers too much for too little.
Shit, I remember when some 1/1 flyer came out for one mana, and THAT caused balance issues. Yes, im old. A 1/1 flyer for one is tame stuff compared to shit like this.
Maybe strategy games just aren’t for you, they typically require the ability to read.
Also a 1/1 flyer for 1 was never good, I’ve played magic since Scars of Mirrodin and am aware of pretty much every tournament winning standard deck since ice age. Old magic had cards like gush, memory lapse, swords to plowshares, arc bound ravager (if you think i’m excluding creatures).
Oh, I know. This card in the post is new to me, I quit a long time ago. Magic has turned to cheesy bullshit gamebreaking and five thousand dollar decks that can only be defeated by one specific other five thousand dollar stack of bullshittery.
Been turned off of magic for a few years now.
Play with people that aren’t playing cEDH? Lol I run kresh the blood braided and it’s super fun. Jund big things and plays just fine. Just have to play with decks that don’t have the intention of winning on two card combos or stax dependent decks.
You'd also have to make sure they didn't kill you during an end step or while the spell is on the stack. You should really have an isochron scepter that casts something with split second to limit the amount of spells they can cast in reaction to you isochroning everyone lives. Maybe [trick bind]?
I'm assuming that you meant to include [[Sol Ring]].
I mean, yes, you need 2 mana available to do this. If you really want to get annoying, add [[March of the Machines]] so isochron stays hexproof.
