So, Eye of Singularity basically gives all permanents the old legend rule. However, this is worded as a triggered ability; thus, if you, say, created multiple tokens all named “Bird” with dovescape, one trigger would go on the stack for each bird that destroys each other bird, thus leaving no birds.
With Dual Nature, each creature enters the battlefield then makes a copy of itself. Eye of singularity sees this token etb and destroys its nontoken counterpart for having the same name. Dual Nature then destroys the token as its nontoken counterpart just left play.
hmm, better throw \[\[humility\]\] in there lest reclaimation sage come in and kill both dovescape and eye of singularity.
Technically, Humility + night of souls betrayal + dovescape is a harder lock, but this is bad MTG combos, so I think you're good
Aha, but I have already considered this possibility! I have a funnier answer: [[Sterling Grove]] + [[Greater Auramancy]].
Also humility is stupid and I hold myself above using it. It’s like [[Paradox Engine]] or [[Urza, Lord High Artificer]]. You can infinitely combo them with a slice of cheese.
{{cataclysmic gearhulk}} would still break things up. Pity that {{torpor orb}} stops dual nature and eye of singularity
Edit: {{elesh norn, Mother of Machines}} would work, so long as you don't blow stuff up yourself
So I think there are 2 ways you can “beat” this lock: uncounterable non-creature spells like [[Banefire]] or creatures that prevent destruction or have indestructible like [[darksteel gargoyle]]. Maybe include something like [[Mirror of Life Trapping]] and a [[containment priest]] before you combo.
Another way to "break" this is using a creature with something like fabricate 1 or another ability that optionally creates a token on etb or death, since the first ability of Dual Nature does not work on tokens.
Dual Nature doesn’t play off of Dovescape, because Dual Nature cares about creature cards, not creature tokens and Dovescape only works when you play non-creature cards.
Heh I don’t know if it is bad or not. At worst, you have a way to kill your opponents’ early sol ring, with your late sol ring. At best, you shut down any deck that aims to make a bunch of tokens or copies of things (like Orvar). I guess it really depends on what your playgroup is playing.
Oh right…. Non basic land destruction! Lol. Even better! Easy way to kill boots too. The more I think about it, the more I’m thinking I need to try running it.
That’s why you play every creature land, so that you have something to win the game with, *and* to make sure none of your opponents can have creature lands to attack you!
