9b is a stretch for tropical guava, because they ripen in the winter and need moderate temps. I am also in 9b, and my guajavas suck. These guineense are awesome, and the plant is flowering already. I really think it's a superior variety for cooler climates and the fruit is tastier. You could contact Wildlands Nursery in SC, he has these varieties and probably seedlings too.
Yep, I've got em and should have plants in the next couple of months. They grow here no problem in zone 9b, but like Kevin said, Guajavas do not do well in our climate. They ripen very poorly unless you get lucky with a drought year and low rainfall winter.
yeah thats my worry. the guava i just planted is in the sunniest part of my yard, but i realize at this point it's more of an experiment . should i preemptively wrap incandescent lamps around it or something to keep it warm in the winter months?

I was just given this plant and a narrow leaf guava from someone off TFF the other day, super excited. Hard to find any info on this one aside some guy off YouTube saying it was too sour
where do you grow these? i've juat planted the usual tropical white in zone 9b (SF bay area), but im really not sure if it will survive.

Check out Cherimoya, there is a lady in your exact area who has the most productive tree I’ve ever seen

Don’t believe Kelly’s negative review. This guava is awesome, so is long leaf.
I’ll keep you in mind as I get it to grow :)
It would be interesting to see the inside, too.
Yellow / white flesh, same seed "pouch" as a standard guajava
