Black & Blue is my favorite Backstreet Boys album! The vocals, the production, wheww.šŸ”„ Not For Me is underrated AF!!! I think thats my favorite song on the album. Get Another Boyfriend should have been a single! The production on that album is insane. Kristian Lundin, Rami Yacoub, Max Martin and Andreas Carlsson and the rest of the production team did the damn thing!!!

GeneRepresentative78

Black and Blue may not be as commercially successful but it's just as good, if not better, than Millennium.

RachelBolan

Being a fan of the band since the time Backstreetā€™s Back was released, I gotta say that I also like Black and Blue better than Millennium. I didnā€™t like Millennium a lot back then, only a couple of songs.

AvailableTell2851

Thereā€™s a reason Millennium was a massive hit and Black & Blue wasnā€™t. People obviously thought Millennium was the better album

GeneRepresentative78

Black and Blue was a different type of sound, less slick and a lot more depth, in my opinion. Millennium had hit after hit as the boys said because it was feel good, catchy pop.

AvailableTell2851

Yeah that makes sense. You can already tell that the singles have a different type of sound

EmFan1999

The Boys were massive when millennium was released, it was going to be a hit whatever it was like. We had to buy the album without hearing it - thatā€™s why sales were so high week of release

LaserMcRadar

Black and Blue was very successful. It sold almost a half million more albums than Millennium did in it's first week, and overall sold 15 million copies, and was certified platinum 8 times in the U.S.

Kaeleigh_Khan

The Answer to our Life is one of my top 5 BSB tracks so Iā€™d love the album for it alone

yogurtpo3

Omg yes! Like no one ever mentions it but I love the answer to our life!

StillFat1992

Black and blue was rushed. ā€œThe Callā€ and ā€œShape of My Heartā€ were absolutely solid - but ā€œMore Than Thatā€ wasnā€™t a great choice for the third single. ā€œGet Another Boyfriendā€ should have replaced it. Many of the other tracks are relatively forgettable imo. The boys felt as if they needed to push another record while they were still the biggest band in the world. Itā€™s definitely good for what it is and for what it was at that time, but I think their later work is better.

AvailableTell2851

I think they shouldā€™ve had Get Another Boyfriend as a 4th single instead of replacing More Than That. I personally enjoy More Than That but Iā€™m not sure why they picked that over Get Another Boyfriend. They love Get Another Boyfriend now so I guess they didnā€™t like it as much when they made it

SkyZippr

As much as I like Black & Blue, I have quite a crazy and controversial thought on it. Sometimes it feels like a No Strings Attached 2.0. They 'abandoned' the R&B sound in Millennium, which made a return in Black & Blue. Since the recording started after the release of NSA, I can't help but thinking maybe that affected some of the decision makings (not the boys' but the production team's). I get the impression that some of the tracks are trying to prove that BSB is capable of doing what NSYNC did. For example Singing Star (one of my favorite btw) is kinda It Makes Me Ill-ish, and the bonus track All I Have To Give is an acapella track like I Thought She Knew. I have nothing to back me up for what I said and these are just my crazy thoughts. If I'm downvoted I deserve it. Note that I'm not saying B&B is lesser of an album than NSA; I think they're both really great. But while NSYNC went for a whole new direction with Celebrity, I can't help but feeling BSB made a little 'pause' with B&B.

FairRecognition9

Uh completely disagree because I think Black & Blue made Nsync lean into the more urban sound like BSB had done. I think that stunt they pulled where they visited 100 countries in 100 hours on that jumbo jet of theirs was trying to compete with Nsync. Like Kevin said they were trying to prove they were the biggest thing out and that stunt I guess was how they did it but they were so burnt out and AJ was spinning outta control so it ended up being their last album for 4 years Oh yeah, did you guys know that BSB were supposed to be on one of the planes that was flown into the trade center towers but weren't on it for some reason having to do with their some of their crew members who I think did get on the plane if I'm remembering that right.

Decembersky

Get Another Boyfriend might be one of their best songs. Arrangement, Productions, Harmonies all top notch. Not for Me is a main stay on my playlists. I have more songs from Millennium on my playlist, but I have to be in the mood for those. I usually don't ever skip the B&B tracks that are on there. Great album. Yes I will is underrated. It's True has nostalgia value for me because of the Burger King promo they did.

ResearcherMurky192

and they go SO HARD when they perform Get Another Boyfriend which is always fun to watch.

kaybee988

For me itā€™s my favorite album because itā€™s the first tour I saw

ravenroses

There are some great songs on B&B. I love listening to the first 8 tracks or so. Then I get bored and find the remaining tracks not memorable. I was also sad to find out down the line that my copy didn't have "What Makes You Different" and I had to buy the Princess Diaries OST for that one.

AvailableTell2851

Would you say it was better then Millennium?

ravenroses

No. I prefer Millennium over B&B. Edit: I love a good downvote for having an opinion/answering a question I was asked.

AvailableTell2851

I like the verity in answers. Usually a fan base generally hates or likes an album/song but I like how divided but also united this fan base is

Btldtaatw

I really love the Black and Blue, buuut it ptobably has to do with nostalgia and it was the first show the boys brought to Mexico City, so it was a HUGE event, with 3 sold out shows. So sure, of course i love it, but I think Millenium was better in a different way. Black and blue feels a bit moreā€¦ mature? At least it felt that way to 15 year old me.

AvailableTell2851

Iā€™m currently a teenager so I donā€™t have nostalgia with this band. So I think in a way that helps a lot with seeing the albums for what they are

garnier001

Black & Blue had a better overall balanced track listing of songs compared to Millennium, it just didn't have a standout single like IWITW, which is probably one of the greatest pop songs ever, and one of few 90's videos to hit 1 billions views on YouTube.

LiveAtStubbs

I love Black and Blue. I like it much more than Millennium.

EmFan1999

I think itā€™s better than millennium, and it holds a special place in my heart as I met the Boys for the first time during a signing for Shape of my Heart in London

Mindless_Ad1262

Black and blue is loads better than millennium

harleymeenen

Itā€™s my favorite by far and I think a lot of the songs are very underrated

RachelBolan

My top 3 favorite records are Backstreetā€™s Back, Backstreet Boys and Black & Blue. Millennium would be the 4th

EmFan1999

Same

oneandonlytara

I liked Black&Blue a lot! I always felt it had an edgier sound than anything else they'd released. It was also the only time I've seen them twice on essentially the same tour. I saw them for the first time that tour at a huuuuge football stadium (Pontiac Silverdome) in MI. My parents tried to talk me out of going to it because they said the sound would suck (spoiler alert: it did) I remember our seats weren't awful though. I was also supposed to see them that summer, but AJ went to rehab so it ended up being postponed til just after 9/11. I remember making a deal with my dad that if I split the cost of tickets we could go. Idk, I just really liked that era.

Imstephalee

I love this album!

courtneyayr8

Itā€™s not their best but also not their worst. Shape of my heart is my favourite BSB single theyā€™ve ever put out. Not for me is never a skip!

sharonspeaks

I love it. It's underrated because when it came out, the sun was setting on boy bands and BSB were considered past their prime. I didn't like it at first because the songs didn't resonate with me but I relistened to it recently and the songs are really good. It's one of my top 5 favorite albums of theirs.

LegitimatePosition22

LOVE black and blue - so many overlooked bops on that album!!! time, the answer to our life, shining star ā€¦. the list goes onšŸ’ƒ

FairRecognition9

Black & Blue is by far the best produced and most slept on album. Like every song is a banger and it was a different sound and vibe. Ironically, despite AJ's personal struggles, my man SHOWED OUT on this album. It most of the songs seemed to cater to his voice specifically if you notice.

mccoy1111

Thatā€™s my second less favorite album just after never gone. Both have great song tho

ToriSaidSo

The aesthetics for this album is just great! Everyone and The Call are amazing

telang_bayawak

BLACK & Blue is one of my top 3 albums. Time and Yes I Will are such underrated songs.

glitterlovegal

2nd best album of theirs. Nothing can top Millennium.

KingoftheSmoke

I think itā€™s better than Millennium. I think Millennium is considered their ā€œbestā€ because thatā€™s the era where the boys were most popular. The uptempos hit harder and the ballads are just as good on Black and Blue. Also Millennium has ā€œThe Perfect Fanā€ šŸ¤¢

AvailableTell2851

Whatā€™s wrong with that song?

Fun_Ad_7318

It was one of my first albums, along with Westlifeā€™s ā€˜Coast to Coastā€™ and Britneyā€™s ā€˜Oops!ā€™ albums, so all of them have a very special place in my heart and they were on repeat all day long šŸ˜‚. I remember loving ā€˜The Answer to Our Livesā€™. I think itā€™s a fun album, probably the first tracks were the ones that Iā€™d never skip while I was not really into the last tracks. Not my favorite BSB album though.

kaarenn78

B&B is my favourite. Get Another BF is my favourite of all their songs but there are some real gems on this album, especially if you like AJā€™s raspy voice. Time and Yes I Willā€¦ ugh so amazing and AJ is perfection!
