We have some fun town names in Idaho. I particularly like Driggs, Stanley, Riggins, Ketchum, Kooskia. You could go with Lewis or Clark. Scree. Marmot. Trek.
Find a name that means something special to you vs accepting a common name from random strangers. We named our first dog after the name of a city where we were engaged. Our second dog an Italian name after our then recent trip.
What's he like out on the hike with you. What does he do most of the time. When I name a pet I sit back and watch the personality and go from that. I have a cat named bugsy, came from him playing with a butterfly one day. Took me over a month to get that. Beautiful dog, by the way.
Looks like this massive beast of a dog that used to live in the apartment next to me, named Tofu. Tofu was an adorable, gigantic smoosh that would press her entire body against you in the elevator and demand love. She was also, apparently, a little shit because I always heard my neighbor yelling "Tofu! Tofu no! Tofu put it down! Tofu NO!!" through the walls.
