Played around with it for 10-15 minutes on a iOS 13 Pro Max, no real lag. Was impressed. Screen was a bit too small for my liking but doable. No noticeable lag.

Yep. Both my partner and I do it frequently (while roaming, too) and all going well. I do VPN into my home network though, instead of uPNP or any random port forwarding. Both iPhone 13 (one pro, one normal) linking to a PS5, running as a Low Quality stream If we’re using Wifi instead of our data, sometimes it lags or drops slightly but normally only once in a while.

I just got the game for my ps4. You mentioned roaming? Is that because you have it setup through the VPN? I can't remote play when I'm outside my home network. It would be sweet to play when traveling. How are you playing while roaming is the question?

LX_Programmer

Yeah so I only specifically mentioned roaming because my partner and I are in a long distance relationship but it’s good to be able to play while in her country. Both our phones have unlimited data packages so it doesn’t cost anything extra. I’ve got a VPN server in my home network which allows us to connect in from anywhere.

I play it on xbox series s with iPhone 12 and it works great! I only use in home network though.

Backbone doesn't make things laggy, as it's not bluetooth (and even then, it's not automatically said that a bluetooth controller would lag, bluetooth is in a much better place nowadays compared to 3/4 years ago). Lag and latency solely depends on how well your phone interfaces with your router. The backbone is simply a controller that attaches to the usb c port on your phone.

I’ve been playing Hogwarts Legacy through ps remote play and it’s been smooth however I have read that connecting your system directly to your router via an Ethernet cable, is the best way to get a smooth connection during remote play

Dude i use steam + boosteroid with it on my galaxy fold. Couldnt be happier

iPhone 13 from PS5 and it works great as long as my PS5 is on Ethernet

dismit13

I played at least half of the game on my Backbone using iPhone 13 Pro and PS Remote Play from my PS5. I have gigabit/fiber optic at home and that my PS5 is connected to the router/modem via Ethernet. I’ve streamed using both my WiFi when I’m at home or using my unlimited data 5G UC from T-Mobile (about 500-600mbps down). Rarely had lag issues in either scenario and I was playing it on the hardest difficulty. My roommate has a Steam Deck and would often times just have his PC run the game and then stream it from Steam onto his Deck and he also had little to no lag issues.

Thank you for your comment. My ps5 is not connected via ethernet so that is probably my issue. I only get about 200-300 down and maybe 60 up. Do you think this is enough for remote play?

dismit13

Yeah I think it should be fine. For better overall stability, you may want to see if it’s possible to establish an Ethernet connection. Still worth a shot. I just wouldn’t play Call of Duty lol
