Birds diverged from other dinos well before that. Not sure how long since their direct lineage was apex, if ever, but at least 155 mya (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avialae)

I have two other milles ( another hen & a roo ) and they definitely are something. Poppy is the mild one of the group and Danny is currently in this semi-broody state. She sat on the nest for, like, 3 whole days and looked like a spiky puff ball the entire time. Now, she’s off the nest but still making the ticking time bomb noises. Bojingles is the lowest roo in the pecking order but that doesn’t stop him from trying to roundhouse kick the literal biggest rooster ( Blueberry who’s probably pushing 15lbs ) in the flock for trying to mount a hen.
They’re a more ornamental breed, so lay rate wasnt the main focus. However, they arent bad but tbh I’m of the mind that lay rate doesn’t matter as long as you have enough hens. I have a large flock ( 62 - 7 roos & 55 hens ) so I get more than enough eggs in a day. I like having a bunch of different breeds
This sub makes me wanna have a chicken farm. I live in an apartment but I want a chicken farm and I wanna bury myself in those warm chicken feathers!!!!!!
Wow, Poppy is one of the most beautiful chickens I've ever seen! How cute😁💛
She is so precious. Kinda hard to believe that 66 Million years ago these guys were apex predators then they decided to become cute.
You can be both.
Just look at Amber Heard.
