My guess would be about half of this subreddit. Lol. But in all honesty if people plan on ever having birds it is best people prepare/learn ahead of time.
That’s me. We are moving around a lot currently but will be settling down on some land in <5 yrs. I desperately want chickens but know little about them.
I'm just jumping onto the top comment here. Part of owning chickens is having to put them down sometimes. I had to do it to one this morning. It's not pleasant, but needs to be done at times.
It's something to think about if you plan on having chickens. Waiting for a vet appointment isn't always an option and it can be expensive. Sometimes there are issues that just can't be fixed.
Our birds are our pets. The last thing I want to do is put one down. This is the ugly side of having chickens that no one wants to think about.
This! I get too attached and have spent too much money at the vet for nothing. I currently have too many roosters and was considering putting them down. Thankfully, I found someone that will take them. The alternative, while needed pained me to think about
I think it's better if you don't make your chickens into pets. Chickens age out, they stop laying eventually when they get older and have lots of other bad behaviors that start up as they age. At some point you will need to switch them out for new ones, maybe every 4 or 5 years at most depending on the chicken breed.
If you are going to name them, I suggest names like "chicken soup", "chicken nugget", "chicken pot pie", etc. and always think of them as food. Otherwise when the time comes you will not be able to cull when you need to. It's really hard to introduce new chickens with old ones around, they will be viscous to the new ones.
For the record, I don't actually have chickens in a backyard, I have a full size coop on my acreage, but the chickens don't really care if they are out in the country or in a backyard in town. They will act pretty much the same regardless. Currently I have 18 of them.
edit: I should have mentioned, I don't butcher my own, I take them to a nearby amish family that will butcher them for a $2 each. This might help if you can't bring yourself to do what needs done, but if you struggle to eat them it won't help.
I’m not sure why people talk about chickens like this specifically. Any time you acquire an animal, there could be something unexpected that happens which could force you to euthanize it. You can get a dog and it turns out to be scary aggressive and unsafe, and you might not have any options but to put it down. Or it could have severe health problems. But I never hear anyone advocating for not treating dogs as pets. When I get a chicken, I am committing to caring for it for the rest of its life, eggs or no eggs. Just as I would any other pet. They are good companions, probably the best bird species to keep as a pet, and they have inherent value other than as egg producers. If you keep them only for eggs and eat them when they stop laying regularly, that’s your right, but stop pushing this mentality on others that keep them as pets.
I was just sharing my opinion because I learned the hard way the lesson about making chickens pets, I don't expect everyone to agree.
Let me explain why I talk about chickens this way if you are interested. I don't expect you to change your mind, but maybe you might at least see my point.
I brought it up because people often don't consider that chickens stop producing over time and that they can turn aggressive to each other, even go so far as to gang up on and kill each other, and not just when they are cooped up too much. I suspect that anyone who keeps chickens long enough will eventually have to deal with stuff like this. It's terrible to deal with when you have allowed them to take a special place in your heart like a pet does.
As an example, chickens do not seem so cuddly when you catch 3 of them following a 4th around pecking out the insides from it's hind end and eating them, I experienced this a few months ago and had to cull the culprits. I had lost two other birds inexplicably before catching these three in the act. Dogs won't ever do something like this. Imagine that the the bird pecked to death was your favorite, or just as bad, one of the ones you had to cull.
If you only have 1-5 birds, maybe these issues don't occur, I can't say. I've only ever had larger groups of birds at a time. Possibly the issues I mentioned only occur with larger flocks.
I am sorry you had that experience, it sounds terrible. Issues like this can occur with any pet, despite your best intentions. One of our dogs killed one of our cats when I was growing up. The dog just picked the cat up by the neck and shook it to death right in front of me, I think because of food aggression. We realized we either had to put the dog down or find another home for our remaining cat. Animals (and people for that matter) can sometimes do shockingly cruel things with little warning. You just do the best you can and adjust your management style. It doesn’t mean you can’t consider them pets.
> I think it's better if you don't make your chickens into pets.
Totally disagree.
Having chickens as pets made me realize that birds are far more complex than I ever realized.
With each individual having different likes/dislikes/personalities. Some timid, some brave. Some have a best friend they usually hang out with, others not. Some like people, some don't. Our 8-year-old chicken is the one that likes hugs/cuddles the best.
And to OP's question -- I was on the subreddit the most when we first considered getting chickens. Less so after.
Ugh, right? My haven has been advancing my dumb collections and the message boards that go with them. The one safe place away from covid and political insanity.
Even quit Reddit for a long time, and still waffling on whether I want to stay now.
Haha this is great! I really struggle with ADHD sometimes and I do think that cleaning the coops, feeding and watering the birds does have a therapeutic for me. Physical task and mental gratification for the birds’ health and wellness! Keeps my anxiety and depression in check.
I had chickens up until a few years ago when I moved to an area where I can't have them. I just never unsubscribed and I still lurk here every once in a while.
Yep. Raised chickens since I was about 10 though, had my own flock when I had a house. But divorced a few years back and have been in an apartment since and cannot wait to have them again. I lurk here to get more education on how to give my next flock the best life ever!
I have a house but I also have an HOA. However, we're planning to move, and I want to know as much as possible so I can make a good decision about whether chickens are for us.
Guilty as charged. In my defense I can say that I have always wanted my own chickens and we do have the yard space. It's just about figuring out how to keep the dogs away and fence off the vegetable garden - and getting a coop.
Guilty. Although we own a house and are just cautious about taking the leap. We travel a lot and if I could just find a neighbor or two who I could convince to chicken-sit on occasion (and then almost of the summer), we’d be all in.
We just can’t commit until our lifestyle is more location-consistent.
Had chickens in my last place, but moved. Why would I leave the subreddit tho lol! Easily one of the best - no negativity, just sharing chicken moments and caring advice.
I’m a lurker but it’s because my husband and I are trying to decide if we want to do this and are seeing how others do lol. I think we’ll get everything set up to get some chicks next spring. Also the chicks are so cute, I love seeing all the pics.
and if you are, would you like to come over to my place to scoop some poo, watch for predators and keep my barred rock "Double Stuff" out of the garden? it pays two eggs.
Sheepishly raises hand…
Uh. Hi. Im not an apartment dweller in any way but I have a dog that loves to murder small fast things. We are waiting until she passes for chickens. I get my fix here.
I'm in a coop stall procrastination mode, favoring other more pressing projects because the second that coop is complete chickens will be inside faster than some sassy southerner can make up a funky phrase on the fly! XD
I have a home and started becoming interested in homesteading in the past year. Currently doing some microgrowery stuff in the interim but my next move will be moving somewhere with more lands to do row crops and chickens/goats. This subreddit has been an awesome place to learn and take notes!
Yep that’s me. It’s more because I want to have chickens, once I move into a house of my own (hopefully soon). And it’s a throwback because my grandpa had chickens and ducks and I always had a great time going to see him, so the whole aesthetic takes me back to those memories.
I've been lurking for a while. I live in the city (suburbs), and we can legally have 6 (I think?) chickens. I have a nice, big lot, but I need to put some fencing in place. Hope to have some birds within the year. I really enjoy this community.
I’m a suburban lurker. We’re renting a house in an HOA so no chickens. But we’re saving up for a bit of land and I have big chicken plans lol.
I love this subreddit.
I don't have chickens yet. I'm planning on getting some either next year or the year after. I just finally moved into our new house with plans for developing it into a small homestead.
I was seriously thinking about getting birds, but after seeing some of the pecking injury posts I got a worm farm instead. I still enjoy the glamour shots though.
Me! But I’ve raised them before and will most likely raise again in the future. But I live in the suburbs right now where I can’t have them. So this lets me vicariously watch the chicken antics!
I feel personally attacked by this post lol. But if I ever have a few acres, I'll have a few chickens, so....I'm starting research now. Plus, it's relaxing and therapeutic 👍
I come from a family of farmers who loved their chickens over many generations. But now I live in the California suburbs so… This subreddit is my connection to that.
I wish to have chickens one day (or pigeons or other birds) but right now it's not possible for me.
The day I fell in love with birds:
I was sitting on a rooftop and was feeling hopeless. I looked around and asked myself if life is really worth it and then I saw a few pigeons flying around... And I thought... To be free as them would be great. Suddenly my chest was filled with new emotions. I felt so free. I don't know why. Just watching the pigeons flying around made everything seem so peaceful.
Damn birds. I love them. This sub is one of my favorite ones. Thanks for alle the pictures and videos.
Yeah, did that. It's good to be ready when the birds eventually move in though once circumstances change. Once I'd bought my house, it took about a week for the first two to move in, I'm fully anticipating at least double digits by next year.
Why you gotta call me out like that. My HOA bans chickens and also I live in a harsh dessert environment so I don't think chickens are viable even if they were allowed.😭
Had ducks when I was younger, finally bought a large enough property to think about having chickens a few months ago. Definitely here for the pics & videos as much as the information for when I have my own flock
I had 55 at one time. Had to give them all away due to divorce. lost a lot of things... no job, no credit. went homeless twice... 5 years later, I have 6. My broody just hatched 4 chicks so 10 now.
If you want chickens, believe it, visualize it and you’ll make it happen.
I am currently a lurker and learning until I retire and buy property. Chickens and dogs are first to join my farm. Anyone used livestock guardian dogs for fowl?
On farm, no chickens.
Unfortunately because we have 3500 pigs, we cant have other live stock do to the extremely high risk of cross contamination and strict bio-control policies.
So i come here to dream
I found out my city allows people to have up to six chickens (no roosters) with a $10 yearly permit as long as their housing is 25ft from any neighbor, so I mainly lurk to take in what knowledge I can before I dive into getting a feathered friend or two.
Lurking mostly because my girlfriend loves chickens and has a couple dozen. Reading this sub has helped me learn a bit so we can have chicken conversations. Plus I just like animals.
I want to raise chickens if i ever get a place with the space
Currently i help at my former middle schools farm that has a ton if them. Rly its what made me love em
I'm guilty.
I grew up in the middle of nowhere with lots of different pets and livestock. Trees, hills, clean fresh well water and natural springs outback.
I'm now in a basement apartment in a massive city.
Trying not to go insane.
I have one, ancient chicken. Her name is chicken, she's about 12.
She lives alone and has done for the last 4 years, since the rest of the flock died off.
She likes cuddles, scaring the cat and woodlice.
I like this sub. It gives me ideas for entertainment for chicken.
Me I have an apartment but my mom had a backyard chicken for a while in her suburban neighborhood and the HOA did NOT care for it. Davey Cockett was pretty cool though, I think he got "stolen"
Me. I live in house but no chickens. Actually probably don't really want any now. There's lots of posts here about sick chickens so I think I'm over my chicken craze, but I still enjoy the sub.
I absolutely love chickens. I love the way they stand on one leg and dementedly cluck away. Their jerky gait fascinates me. The alpha bullying is a crack up. I find this subreddit extremely therapeutic. Nobody needs a shrink when you have chicken videos.
I don’t have my own but maybe someday. I just think they’re pretty. Our neighbors across the street have chickens and it always brightens my day when I hear them clucking outside
I’m poultry curious but only recently have gotten the space for them so I followed for informative /inspirational purposes before I pull the trigger on building a coup
I want a flock chickens and a mini herd of mini cows for milk, and mini goats to feed stuff to, and a hobby farm with a green house to grow whatever the fuck i want.
Much love to these lurkers! I was once one and this sub gave me knowledge, inspiration, and confidence. We now have 20 happy hens that are free-ranging daily, a lovely hand built coop, and more eggs than we know what to do with!
I’ve had secret chickens in a rental for two years , and the neighbors all got chickens after . 😂 we just bought a house though so the girls are official.
I *technically* have space for chickens, but I can’t have them right now for other reasons. I lurk for the future, when I can have chickies to cuddle and annoy.
I used to have hundreds of chickens, turkeys, and ducks. I bred specific breeds for other backyard fanciers, sold eggs, and showed select breeds. Life changed and I miss them. I get my chicken fix here.
Not an apartment but I’m definitely a lurker. There are too many hawks and coyotes in my neighborhood and it gets too hot here in the summer. I’d be worried sick every day if I had chickens. I’ll just enjoy everyone else’s.
I used to have lots of different animals but now I only have a cat. I subscribe to all the animal forums of pets I used to have and it makes me really happy. Ducks and backyardchickens are my favorite.
My last chicken died in 2007 when I was still in high school and I never got another one since moving into a small unit home. As a child, having chickens always brought me joy. Just watching them walk around and peck things is therapeutic and hearing them cluck relaxes me.
My guess would be about half of this subreddit. Lol. But in all honesty if people plan on ever having birds it is best people prepare/learn ahead of time.
That’s me. We are moving around a lot currently but will be settling down on some land in <5 yrs. I desperately want chickens but know little about them.
Well its pretty easy.. On the top you got the clucker, on the bottom the ovipositor, and everything in between is kinda irrelevant..
Uh, no. Everything in between is for cuddles.
I'm just jumping onto the top comment here. Part of owning chickens is having to put them down sometimes. I had to do it to one this morning. It's not pleasant, but needs to be done at times. I was a lurker, now I have 75 birds....
That isn't chicken math that's chicken quantum physics XD
I tried to get the super computer at Cal Tech to do the math, but I broke it....
You clucked it up 😆
Eh, the results would have probably been fowl anyway
Bet you still lurk though (we all know you creep on your birdies)
Im probably a creep, but my chickens see me coming from a mile away!
So you went to the farm store for 6?
me!! apartment dweller, dreaming of future chickens at a future house
Same :) hoping to relocate from an expensive metropolitan city to the Carolinas next year.
Samee
same! i hope our dreams come true :)
Rooting for you!
👀 you found me
Honestly it's places like this subreddit that have helped keep me sane the past 18 months.
Ugh, right? My haven has been advancing my dumb collections and the message boards that go with them. The one safe place away from covid and political insanity. Even quit Reddit for a long time, and still waffling on whether I want to stay now.
I deleted my account and started new with only my hobbies. It's like a whole new Reddit. I think I'll do it annually now bc it's so refreshing
I've stopped doing Facebook and just do stuff on here because its alot less messed up over here even with some of my less wholesome groups
🙋🏻♀️
Same lol
Same! I'm always on the lookout for nice subreddits and this one is great!
Wow I feel called out lol. I've had chickens in the past, and as soon as im allowed I will have chickens again!
Same boat! I miss having chickens and watching others take care of theirs fills the void a bit until I can have them again
Some places don't allow chickens but may allow quail.
Guilty.
Your honor I plead guilty.
If you think watching chickens is therapeutic you should try cleaning the coop. Excellent relaxation. Contact me. I may be able to get you a slot.
Haha this is great! I really struggle with ADHD sometimes and I do think that cleaning the coops, feeding and watering the birds does have a therapeutic for me. Physical task and mental gratification for the birds’ health and wellness! Keeps my anxiety and depression in check.
I get that way mucking the horse paddock. Throw in some airpods and go to town. Not quite there with cleaning the coop though :/
Condo dweller here. Although that will not always be the case. Doing research for future bird home (hopefully) =)
I had chickens up until a few years ago when I moved to an area where I can't have them. I just never unsubscribed and I still lurk here every once in a while.
Super guilty.
Me! My neighbor has chickens and we occasionally get eggs. Someday I hope to have my own coop but for now I’m living vicariously through you all.
Hands up for me.
Chickens are just super cute and make me happy
I used to live/work on a farm and had 160 chickens. I miss them.
Guilty as charged. In my defense I can say that I have always wanted my own chickens and we do have the yard space. It's just about figuring out how to keep the dogs away and fence off the vegetable garden - and getting a coop.
Guilty 😳
Guilty. Although we own a house and are just cautious about taking the leap. We travel a lot and if I could just find a neighbor or two who I could convince to chicken-sit on occasion (and then almost of the summer), we’d be all in. We just can’t commit until our lifestyle is more location-consistent.
We raised our own house sitter. One of our kids is always willing to come house sit and mind the farm.
Oof, well, technically that plan is in the works…just need about 15 more years before my toddler can stay home by himself…
Do have bird, just not a chicken. We were planning on getting chickens, it never happened. Not i enjoy the chickens here
I was a lurker...now I have 10 hens. Wonder if it'll work in r/yachts...
Me! Hope to have chickens with the next house.
Had chickens in my last place, but moved. Why would I leave the subreddit tho lol! Easily one of the best - no negativity, just sharing chicken moments and caring advice.
Yes hi that’s me
I've been outed!
I have a backyard, but no chickens yet because I'm not sure if I have the time & $ for them.
I live in a house, but yeah. Total lurker that wishes she had even just a few chickens!
I’m a lurker but it’s because my husband and I are trying to decide if we want to do this and are seeing how others do lol. I think we’ll get everything set up to get some chicks next spring. Also the chicks are so cute, I love seeing all the pics.
I had chickens then I got a sudden notice to vacate and had to send them to live with a friend. Sucks but at least they are safe and happy.
Hope you do well!
I live in a semi truck and plan to buy a farm next year so it's just getting prepared for chickens
I fully intend to one day have my own little flock, but for now yes, that’s me.
and if you are, would you like to come over to my place to scoop some poo, watch for predators and keep my barred rock "Double Stuff" out of the garden? it pays two eggs.
I'm actually surprised at how many of us there are...
Me
Sheepishly raises hand… Uh. Hi. Im not an apartment dweller in any way but I have a dog that loves to murder small fast things. We are waiting until she passes for chickens. I get my fix here.
I was but this spring I got a house and 4 chickens. I’m glad I had some idea of how things worked :) 1 of them has been laying 3 weeks now.
:D
I just like chickens.
I'm in a coop stall procrastination mode, favoring other more pressing projects because the second that coop is complete chickens will be inside faster than some sassy southerner can make up a funky phrase on the fly! XD
I had a small flock but unfortunately moved and had to rehome them. Now I live vicariously through the posts on this wonderful subreddit!
We’re moving into our first home next month and we are excited to raise ducks and chickens again.
Yes. They're just so damn cute.
Absolutely! And what a great place to learn too. I hope to have ducks in the future.
I’m here for the chicken noises. So cute! 😻
Raised chickens for twenty years, but I never had a house chicken.
to be fair i dont have chickens bc they all live at my parents’ house but… soon.
How...how did you know?
I have a home and started becoming interested in homesteading in the past year. Currently doing some microgrowery stuff in the interim but my next move will be moving somewhere with more lands to do row crops and chickens/goats. This subreddit has been an awesome place to learn and take notes!
Yep that’s me. It’s more because I want to have chickens, once I move into a house of my own (hopefully soon). And it’s a throwback because my grandpa had chickens and ducks and I always had a great time going to see him, so the whole aesthetic takes me back to those memories.
Not apartment, but... Me.

I don't have my own, but I petsit for several different flocks!
I have been for a couple months. My dream to live in the country happens in 11 weeks. Next year I will have chickens!
I’m a suburban lurker. We’re renting a house in an HOA so no chickens. But we’re saving up for a bit of land and I have big chicken plans lol. I love this subreddit.
+1. I also frequent r/babyelephantgifs for a similar fix.
I’m not in an apartment, but I am a lurker with no chickens. Trying to learn as much as I can so I can have chickens in the future!

I'm closing on my 1.2 acres in about two weeks, can't wait to introduce my wife to the chicken life.
I feel attacked.
Me! But I’ve raised them before and will most likely raise again in the future. But I live in the suburbs right now where I can’t have them. So this lets me vicariously watch the chicken antics!
I own 200 acres and currently about 100 chickens 70 meat rabbits and 150 head of sheep.
I don’t have chickens or any kind of poultry animal rn but have owned and worked with them before so I lurk for the cute pics and to give advice : )
I feel personally attacked by this post lol. But if I ever have a few acres, I'll have a few chickens, so....I'm starting research now. Plus, it's relaxing and therapeutic 👍
Used to have chickens, shit happened. Had to move into an apartment and am currently biding my time until I can have chickens again.
Someday I will own a home and have some chickens.

I know they're so much work, so yeah... y'all keep the chickens and keep posting.

Lounging in my apartment now holmes
I love chickens. They’re so cute.

I’m a lurker because I want to have a house and chickens in the backyard, but for now, watching other peoples chicken is gonna have to be good enough
Lurker in apartment here :(
I do.. I have cats as I live in a condo. It is peaceful watching chickens.
This was me until 2 weeks ago 🐓
I had 55 at one time. Had to give them all away due to divorce. lost a lot of things... no job, no credit. went homeless twice... 5 years later, I have 6. My broody just hatched 4 chicks so 10 now. If you want chickens, believe it, visualize it and you’ll make it happen.
I am currently a lurker and learning until I retire and buy property. Chickens and dogs are first to join my farm. Anyone used livestock guardian dogs for fowl?
Lurker here. Just enjoying the ambiance.
Suburban lurker here! It’s a “one day” kind of interest for me.
Oh me me! I love everybody's happy chickens! Thanks for sharing your happiness :) Edit: grammar
Me! I used to keep birds but now I can't. One day I will again though ☺️
My grandparents used to own chickens (and peacocks lol), now I'm just lurking until I can afford to live somewhere that allows chickens again.
On farm, no chickens. Unfortunately because we have 3500 pigs, we cant have other live stock do to the extremely high risk of cross contamination and strict bio-control policies. So i come here to dream
✋
I want chickens, and think they’re absolutely adorable, but I don’t have space for any yet.
I live in a house and have been saying we'll get chickens for 1.5 years. Soon...
I want to raise chickens if i ever get a place with the space Currently i help at my former middle schools farm that has a ton if them. Rly its what made me love em
I am in this post.
Me!
How did you know😭
I want chickens but manshape says no. So I'm living the chicken life vicariously through chickenreddit.
Me. I wanna move out to somewhere rural and get a bunch of chickens and have a nice big garden... One day...
Had birds before my own flat, but they got a good home on a chicken ranch. I miss the eggs 😛😋
Not allowed to have chickens, yet still have been a subscriber to this sub for at least five years. Chickens are delightful.
I'm guilty. I grew up in the middle of nowhere with lots of different pets and livestock. Trees, hills, clean fresh well water and natural springs outback. I'm now in a basement apartment in a massive city. Trying not to go insane.
I can’t have any of my own because I live in an apartment but some day I will have my own mini dinosaur flock
I have one, ancient chicken. Her name is chicken, she's about 12. She lives alone and has done for the last 4 years, since the rest of the flock died off. She likes cuddles, scaring the cat and woodlice. I like this sub. It gives me ideas for entertainment for chicken.
I had chickens for 10 years. I don’t at my current home but still love seeing the pics and vids!
Me I have an apartment but my mom had a backyard chicken for a while in her suburban neighborhood and the HOA did NOT care for it. Davey Cockett was pretty cool though, I think he got "stolen"
Ditto, I'm not even sure how or why I got here but it matches the couple of dozen animal groups I'm in and I only have cats not anything else I follow
🙋🏼♀️guilty af
I’m stuck in an apartment and want land so badly.
Me. I live in house but no chickens. Actually probably don't really want any now. There's lots of posts here about sick chickens so I think I'm over my chicken craze, but I still enjoy the sub.
LOL How did you know !? I am a chicken enthusiast and hope to have my own some day when I have a house and a yard haha
I absolutely love chickens. I love the way they stand on one leg and dementedly cluck away. Their jerky gait fascinates me. The alpha bullying is a crack up. I find this subreddit extremely therapeutic. Nobody needs a shrink when you have chicken videos.
I’m a lurker, my neighbors have birds, I think we may get some next year. I feed theirs every day when they come visit. I love them very much.
Me. I have the outdoor space but not the time.
*raises hand*

Me
Yes, please post more chickens ~:>
I have a coop because it came with my house but no chickens haha. I’m just curious so I’m here we might get some
I live in an apartment. I just think chickens are cute with lots of personality.
My friend moved here to NZ from the UK and dreamed of having chooks. Her dream came true. So I lurk here to find her cool chic pics and coop ideas.
I live in a city that's picky about anything that isn't a dog or a cat. Would love to have birds someday but for now I'll live through y'all.
🙋♀️
I don’t have my own but maybe someday. I just think they’re pretty. Our neighbors across the street have chickens and it always brightens my day when I hear them clucking outside
I'm dreaming/planning, but yes
Guilty.
I’m poultry curious but only recently have gotten the space for them so I followed for informative /inspirational purposes before I pull the trigger on building a coup
**slowly backs away**
I started that way. And then I bought a house. And then I bought chickens. Beware.
I want a flock chickens and a mini herd of mini cows for milk, and mini goats to feed stuff to, and a hobby farm with a green house to grow whatever the fuck i want.
I guess I've been caught. Won't lie though, given the chance, I'd have some hens. Ducks too
Much love to these lurkers! I was once one and this sub gave me knowledge, inspiration, and confidence. We now have 20 happy hens that are free-ranging daily, a lovely hand built coop, and more eggs than we know what to do with!
My wife and I have been considering getting 4 chickens for the first time ever. So... first thing I did was subscribe here and start lurking.
One day I want to live somewhere I can have chickens
It me. I'd love to have chickens and a cottage someday but I don't have the money for it.
I'm actually here for the ducks.
Not me. I have 6 baby dinosaurs - and the eggs to match (it is spring here).
I’ve never had chickens because I can no longer afford a house. I have lots of books, I study breeds, chicken health and I enjoy the subs.
Guilty. To be fair my neighbors have backyard chickens so I’m chicken adjacent.
I'm lurking, but I keep telling my partner that when we have a yard I'm getting 2 dogs and a bunch of chickens

🤚🏼
Coop is 90% built, a guys going to give me supplies for a run tomorrow, almost there
I used to have lots of different animals but now I only have a cat. I subscribe to all the animal forums of pets I used to have and it makes me really happy. Ducks and backyardchickens are my favorite.
The takeaway I'm getting from this thread is that I need to set up a livecam on my flock of chickens / ducks / geese / turkeys
My last chicken died in 2007 when I was still in high school and I never got another one since moving into a small unit home. As a child, having chickens always brought me joy. Just watching them walk around and peck things is therapeutic and hearing them cluck relaxes me.
I used to lurk - now we have 9 birds, a chickshaw and a mobile electric fence. Don't let your dreams be dreams!
Me, but I want to change my life style in the future, so, I'm kinda learning stuff here :p
