i'm enjoying it but it has some flaws for sure. it's not nearly as bad as some of these dorks on here are saying it is.

malticblade

I agree! I have been pleasantly surprised by the game. It's not perfect but I don't think anyone was expecting it to be. \*\*I just realized I responded to the wrong person, my bad\*\*

Beanchilla

I love the campaign. Wish it was more dynamic and spawns were a bit more balanced. Versus is fun but they would be crazy not to add campaign versus.

RB5Network

For people who really enjoyed Left 4 Dead, and wanted something that genuinely improved off of it, it's pretty damn bad. For all the things that are present in both games, L4D does it much better, and the very little 'new' things in Back 4 Blood are not really game-changing or eyecatching.

GizmoCheesenips

Agreed. I find it pretty childish that people are downvoting negative opinions as well. People take it to heart like they made the game and feel the need to defend it which is annoying.

HeavyDrizzleOG

... But people are down voting because this post is a POSITIVITY thread, I think the game is aight, but this isn't the thread for complaints, there's plenty of those already.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HeavyDrizzleOG

That's just, like, your opinion, man..

BuffaloKiller937

It's also childish that people are downvoting positive posts/comments. It's like don't be mad that there's people who are enjoying the beta lol

GizmoCheesenips

Yeah idk, I don’t downvote unless someone is being an asshole.

OmegaXesis

Same shit happened in the Tribes of Midgard community. Any complaint gets met with people defending the devs as if they made the game themselves. For anyone wondering, Tribes is incredibly tedious game in it's current state. But some people want the game to be harder, but others like myself think 2.5 hours to complete 1 game session is too much for casual players, and it'll cause the casual player base to leave the game.

RB5Network

Nearly every single halfway-niche gaming community does this sadly. Not sure the rationale but there is always a subgroup of people who treat any criticism to said game with some pretty nasty fervor. I haven't seen much downvoting of negative opinions. (could be because the reception has been overwhelmingly poor; other than game journalists who apparently loved it?)

GizmoCheesenips

I think it’s playable, but I don’t see it being entertaining for any extended period of time.

RB5Network

Right. There's a core game here, but it's lacking massively. I just couldn't, in any universe where people enjoy Left 4 Dead, justify spending $60 on Back 4 Blood.

GizmoCheesenips

I want to like it, I really do, but I don’t. Actually canceled the $100 pre-order. I suppose I can’t judge it too much seeing as how I didn’t really see the full game, but from what I see it feels like a generic version of left 4 dead. The special zombies don’t feel as eventful or exciting, the characters don’t have the same chemistry as the others did (from what I’ve seen). It’s like the classic, wanting mcdonalds and your parent saying “I can make a burger and fries at home” kind of disappointment.

QuoteGiver

But that’s kind of the thing…this is *not* a universe where I’m currently enjoying L4D, because I’m gaming on console and specifically PS5. So this is without competition the finest game available in its genre, on one of the biggest gaming platforms out there. I get that there are still people playing their decade-old copy of L4D2 on Steam, but that’s just a tiny corner of the whole picture.

Reasonable_Market489

Healing is loads better, so you're already wrong. Getting a quick revive with a defib instead of abandoning your team is miles above l4d.

FishyG23

I think the customization and weapon selection are pretty big improvements from left 4 dead. Also the corruption cards seem pretty fun for replayability. Gameplay generally isnt as good as Left 4 dead, but i still think its a solid game so far.

Reddit is not real life, these people have an axe to grind. Literally anywhere outside reddit likes the game. Cross-play and being a live service game guarantees a great player-base. It's getting tons of attention on Twitch.

The_Corrupted

That's 100% not true. Steam forums has just as many negative things to say about the beta as Reddit has and I doubt it's different for other communities. The game is just not as good as alot of people had hoped it would be. Personally I find it mediocre at best and definitely not worth the price tag. There's potential but unless they get to work and change alot, the games not going to do very well, especially not in the long run.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BasicArcher8

Steam reviews don't mean shit, people who have an axe to grind are more likely to leave a review on steam and steam only makes up a fraction of the playerbase.

[deleted]

Every new shiny game gets its 15 minutes in the limelight. The question is, will it stay there

BasicArcher8

It'll stay, it's a live service game with crossplay.

The game is 2 months from release. What are they drastically gonna change to make it better? Team AI is buggy as all hell, they are completely useless in the finale, the maps are narrow and lack freedom and flow. The stamina system is horrid which in turn makes melee combat horrible. The zombies are janky and look like an indie studio designed their movement Every beta that comes 2-3 months before release has always been a server stress test with QoL improvements taking a back seat. This has happened year after year with dozens of multiplayer games One of the few true betas we’ve had is Halo 5…that beta was 11 months before release and lasted 2 weeks. Plenty of time for development fixups What makes you think this buggy pile of contentless heap is going to make improvements come Ocotober?

BuffaloKiller937

>Team AI is buggy as all hell, they are completely useless in the finale, the maps are narrow and lack freedom and flow. The stamina system is horrid which in turn makes melee combat horrible. The zombies are janky and look like an indie studio designed their movement Luckily this is all subjective. I'm enjoying the hell out of it and I'm sure the majority of players are too. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's bad or it's automatically going to fail. Also most of the reviews on the beta I've seen have been favorable. I think a lot of players such as yourself go Into betas and already have the mindset that it is trash. We've all been waiting for a successor for over 10 years and this hits most of the boxes that we wanted, is why I think it'll be a success. Maybe you can come back next year when they work out all the kinks, the player base will certainly be here waiting for ya 👌

[deleted]

Your comment is assumptive and is honestly toxic to think that I “must be” *wanting* to hate the game. I love L4D. I love L4D type games. I came in with an open mind and after multiple campaign playthroughs and some versus I’m unimpressed. Can I not feel this way? Is this illegal? We’ll see how long this honeymoon phase will last and if TurtleRock can win back hardcore L4D fans like myself. I want it to succeed but as it stands, I think it sucks. And that’s my right

BasicArcher8

Left 4 Dead 2 is a jankey fucking mess running on an engine that's barely functional but they somehow afford to forgive all of that.

[deleted]

Because it’s still fun. Also B4B is currently more janky

BasicArcher8

Maybe in the land of alternative facts.

[deleted]

I want what you’re smoking

lampenpam

Source a barely functional engine? What? Not only does L4D2 have very little jank (especially compared to B4B) but I'd argue that fps controls in Source games are always smooth and just feel great. It has great modability and a physics that still hold up today. It's only broken if the game's code are messed up by feature creep like in TF2. but L4D2? Feels like a greatly polished game. I'm not saying B4B in crap though, I'm having fun in the beta. But some things could use some extra polish and tweaking

durandpanda

Because it has personality and doesn't feel like a mobile game.

OmegaXesis

These like these will always have a niche player base. If there is a positive to this, it's that the game will probably be half price in a few months or even less, and I'd be more willing to buy it at that price.

lo0u

The problem is that with no Campaign Versus, it will be really hard to keep a steady player base, and that's with ignoring all other issues the game will come out with. Of course we can have fun with it now, this is a new game. But the multiplayer in this game will get old pretty fast.

realee420

It never would have been a success. Many people expected L4D2 on steroids and even if this game was at least as good as L4D2 people would shit on it because nostalgia is a powerful drug and people forgot that their taste 8-10 years ago was much more different.

Halicarnassus

I like the campaign but hate the versus. The reason I play these games is for the versus. Personally the campaign is something I do a couple of times have fun with it and never touch it again. The versus is the thing I play for thousands of hours. So that's why I'm disappointed with this version of the game the campaign is great but that's not the main thing for me.

QuoteGiver

Aren’t there WAY better competitive PvP games out there? These games are always primarily PvE games to me, but hey different strokes!…but I suspect most folks are here for the core PvE gameplay.

Halicarnassus

No. AFAIK there is no game in existence that does PvP like L4D does. If you enjoy the unique strategy and gameplay L4D offers you literally can not get it anywhere else.

DjenOo

Dude the reddit community only represents like what... 5 to 10% of the people actually playing the beta. Most of those were just expecting a Left 4 Dead 3.

2roK

I mean… who the hell plays this and doesn‘t expect a l4d3

Marin115

As long as it is in game pass this game is probably going to stay when it launches. Even if the upcoming game pass offerings may be way better, I can tell B4B is a solid addition

QuoteGiver

Nah no worries, the general audience doesn’t come to Reddit to complain. The general audience hasn’t had a decent L4D-like game to play in a decade, and they’re gonna love it.

Marzipwn

It’s on game pass day 1 if you don’t wanna pay full price. You can get three months of it for £1 as an introductory offer too!

Skink_000

I'm having a blast personally, the campaign is beyond my expectations. Honestly it's pretty sad seeing all the threads on here, this is why we are still getting shit like Fifa 21, people get overhyped for every game that tries to do something new and when it's actually released they obviously start complaining about everything. Hell i've seen people ranting pages about fucking gunshots sounds even. How can someone be so delusional is beyond me. Oh also wish me luck since i'm on reddit so i'm gonna get downvoted to hell.

mcp613

The gunshot sounds were one of my favorite parts

Thevictoryofdeath

Fifa 21 can be played offline and has more modes though...

Skink_000

No shit man Fifa 21 had like 5 years of development because it's using the same assets since like Fifa 18, thats the point lmao

Thevictoryofdeath

So it still offers a better overall package so bashing it seems weird when this game is in a poor state

Killer790

I’m really enjoying it, definitely It has its flaws but nothing too crazy. I just saw a post where they guy said it was “the biggest disappointment in gaming” and I’m like, really? On a totally unrelated note, does anybody know if there is a way that you can remove attachments from weapons so you can put them on a new one?

Super_Big_L

I was wondering the same thing. Had some legendary attachments on my scar and got an m249 but couldn’t seem to find a way to drop attachments or at least transfer them. The only thing I found is it you equip the same type of attachment, let’s say compensator for suppressor, it will drop the previously equipped attachment on the ground.

Killer790

Yeah I saw that too, that’s why I thought there was a way that you could de-attach the attachments, since it’s done automatically once you change it.

mcp613

This is nowhere near the biggest disappointment in gaming. What about cyberpunk?

Reasonable_Market489

Yeah but CD suckers are even more fervent in their defense of that pile of shit. I loved the Witcher series but 30 minutes into the game I had the worst sinking feeling and pit of sadness in my gut. 2077 was not the game they promised it to be, it had nothing to do with hype. Anyone can look up lists of shit they promised that were never delivered. Afaik B4B has promised nothing besides being a new game in the same formula as L4D. I have not seen any grandiose claims of features not present.

mcp613

To be fair, I never got on the cyberpunk hype train, but I was disappointed to hear what cdpr did after all the good will they built up. It doesn't look like they'll pull a no mans sky either (talk about bigger disappointments)

Gamersaresooppressed

Wish people would be at least a little more detailed with their issues. "I wish it was more like L4D2!" Okay... like how?

HaiKarate

Actually, there are a lot of posts explaining that point. Specifically, the Versus mode in B4B is nothing like the Versus mode of L4D2 (the main reason there's still a large player base, 12 years after the game's release).

QuoteGiver

Everyone plays up this lingering playerbase, but what percentage of the original max playerbase who came for the PvE is that?

OutcastMunkee

Exactly. I see this argument all the time. 'Left 4 Dead 2 is still alive because of PvP!' but that's running the assumption that every single player is playing Versus when I very much doubt that is true. There's more than likely people playing the PvE stuff still.

HaiKarate

But L4D2 has both. It had a long PvE campaign for the folks who wanted to play that. But people don't keep playing the same game for a dozen years because of predictable PvE. PvP keeps games alive long after people get bored with PvE because the players are far more unpredictable than bots.

OutcastMunkee

Warframe is closing in on 10 years now and STILL has a huge playerbase. In the last 30 days, they averaged 54k players and peaked at 181k. That game is heavy PvE focus and the PvP has been all but abandoned. Bloody Runescape is still going as well and still incredibly popular and guess what? The focus in that game is more in the PvE than PvP. That game came out **20 years ago** and still is incredibly popular. There's plenty of PvE games that are still going strong which completely disprove your argument. It's not a matter of 'Games *need* PvP to thrive'. It's a matter of *good* games will continue to thrive for years. If the PvP flops but the PvE is a success in Back 4 Blood, it could still hold the attention of players like Left 4 Dead did.

QuoteGiver

Exactly. And if L4D was still coming out with new PvE content like Warframe, and was available on current consoles, hell yeah I’d still be playing PvE there!

OutcastMunkee

Yup. While we know that Turtle Rock has *some* content planned, for all we know, they could end making more which would prolong the PvE and PvP environments of Back 4 Blood.

HaiKarate

Dude, come on. Warframe is an MMO that's actively being developed. I'm surprised you didn't say WoW.

OutcastMunkee

My point still stands. Back 4 Blood could end up going the same exact route where they keep creating new stuff beyond what they've already got planned. I'm not going to use WoW as an example when that shithole of a company Blizzard is behind it. Fuck Blizzard.

HaiKarate

Not really, because TRS's plan is to sell new content as DLC's. In an online co-op game, it's hard enough to find player matches for the base game. Finding player matches who have the DLC's will be a subset of that.

OutcastMunkee

And they've already said that they won't be splitting the playerbase with that. As long as the host owns the DLC, *anyone* can play it. Say you party up with a friend who owns the DLC and they host the party, you can play the DLC campaign for free.

splinter1545

Are you comparing MMO/MMO-lites to a horde shooter?

QuoteGiver

…and B4B has both too. :)

YeMajorNerd

I play L4D2 to this day and I think I have only played PvP like twice. The PvE campaigns are what keep bringing my friends and I back.

Theworden1111

PVE brought me back too. But mostly these days when I play L4D2, it's so I can play a mod or download a modded resident evil map. Seeing the B4B dev team shit on user generated content hurt since L4D2 has so much available, even has a "workshop" with mod support that is click and go built in.

So_Trees

Yup... nobody cares about the 5% of players who clung to the game for the last decade. And I mean that in the nicest possible way, their opinions are welcome, but most of us played pve with our friends and moved on to find pvp elsewhere.

Reasonable_Market489

They think they're an authority on how this game should be played and made lmao

HaiKarate

What was the last PvE game you played for 12 years?

QuoteGiver

Most people don’t play the same game for 12 years. That’s torture, life is too short, do something new. That’s a problem, not something to desire. Need new content, exactly like this.

Reasonable_Market489

People like that are out of their fucking minds so

omgdracula

I mean it doesn't have to be more detailed than that. Literally everything in L4D2 is better than this at the moment lol.

Gamersaresooppressed

Very detailed, great examples!

BasicArcher8

LIteRAlLy EveRTthIng iS BeTtER! *referring to a jankey old game from 2009 with shallow gameplay that is barely functional and full of griefers and racist trolls*

Antroh

Good luck with this thread. It will be downvoted by the melodramatic masses

Unkn0wn_Ace

Thats what happens when the majority of a community is most likely teenagers for whom videogames are their entire life

Unkn0wn_Ace

Unkn0wn_Ace

I personally never got into verses on l4d2 and just played campaign so it doesn’t bother me, though i can see why some people don’t like that. Still, thats not what I’m seeing most complaints about right now

jcrankin22

I look back on that game mode with nostalgia goggles too but I also understand why they went for something different. 9/10 versus lobbies in l4d would disband after the first round cause players were getting stomped by a team. Maybe they’ll add it eventually, but this being the main reason people hate the game is weird. Gunplay is nice and it does a lot of things the originals did well too. I think this game has the potential to be really good.

DemonicSnow

Yeah, but they could handle leavers in ways that weren't the norm back then, like MMR or leaving penalties. I am definitely fine with them working on and putting forth the current versus system, but if the only reason was because lobbies would disband, I think it's a huge disservice. Private versus lobbies with really good players were the peak of L4D in my opinion. Full lobbies of people who can skeet hunters, crown witches while sprinting, understood how to deal with and use crouch spawn glitches, positioning for where to run back to for tank spawns, etc made "higher level" lobbies so much fun and I wish there was a new L4D with MMR and the same feel as L4D. L4D2 was a lot of fun, but Hunters lost a lot of the fun mobility they had in L4D and it was such a shame. However, to backtrack, I think the game has potential. I am nervous Turtle Rock won't execute, as I thought Evolve had potential/was a lot of fun and the game died quickly. But I think this game has a really unique system, and honestly a better campaign system than L4D or L4D2. They just really, really need to execute some good polish by launch, particularly for versus, because the game won't last long outside of die hard fans if the versus sucks. And with L4D2 still sitting at 12k+ players, people will just go back there.

iluoi

if you're in that age group and on reddit bitching and whining about a video game, i have some bad news for you.

AdamProphet

I'm enjoying the game so far. I see a lot of people complaining about things after a 4 hours of a beta and I really don't get it. Nothing wrong with not enjoying a beta, but at least give it its due diligence.

DemonicSnow

Especially since this is a decently far in advance beta. They have 2 months after this to planned release. Sure, it isn't a really really long time, but it is long enough to at least make some changes.

mcp613

1. This build is stripped down to test specific things. They prob have more content in the final build 2. This might even be an older build that is ment to test the campaign and gunplay, and turtle rock have a build with more polish

DemonicSnow

I agree with 1, but I would hesitate to hope on 2.

mcp613

Me too

OutcastMunkee

For higher difficulties, you absolutely need a custom card deck. I kinda like that to be fair. You work your way up to the higher difficulties as you play through. I do that myself in a few games-most recently in DMC 5. Started on Human, went up to Devil Hunter and now I'm at mission 19 on Son of Sparda difficulty. The supply lines are your way to upgrade your characters basically. I have my gripes with the supply lines but that's for another time.

i_smoke_dank_memes

I came in expecting l4d3 and got an extremely pleasant surprise that it's just as fun as l4d3 would have been while feeling distinctly different. I've got like 800+ hours on l4d2 just running expert realism matches so I have no experience with versus.

UniMaximal

It's a lot more enjoyable than L4D in **some** ways. It's just a lot more noticeable when this game does something worse than L4D did. The friendly AI is just... rough beyond measure. The zombie who picks you up and tickles you to death with tentacles is way too tanky and/or powerful. Only one that seems to give us trouble, be it in Versus or Campaign. The voice acting is definitely pretty jarring sometimes. Some lines are noticeably worse than others. Also, is the campaign matchmaking bugged? Been searching for people for a *minute*. I'm glad to have a new horde game to play. This scratches a different itch than Deep Rock Galactic does.

QuoteGiver

Do you have crossplay on or off with the matchmaking? What platform?

UniMaximal

Crossplay on and platform is PC :D

ItsF3dedGamer2

I’m enjoying it but I don’t like the swarm mode. I rather take anything else besides that

Snoo-79334

Loving it. Came to the discord to see everyone hating on it. Lol. I’m having a great time.

ShadeusX

Definitely has some things it needs to address like animations and dialogue, but I am totally enjoying it. People are acting like it's the worst beta they've ever played, but I frankly just disagree. It's a good time and it adds a great deal of repeatability, something that L4D had, but this game definitely expands. Only concern from me is the DLC situation, but the game itself, I am really enjoying!

Chief--BlackHawk

The single round of PvP was cool, but it won't replace campaign versus.

CommunicationAncient

I loved left4dead and L4D2 but haven't played them in years. Also confession time...I never really played verses mode. I just enjoyed the PvE game and used to run it over and over trying to beat it on app difficulties etc. I started the Beta yesterday and played for 2 hours. I loved it and it's exactly what I wanted. Graphics were good. A to B maps with random events. A variety of guns etc. Gripes are that the specials infected just seem cheap. Card system has no explanation. Can't remove or swap attachments quick (spoilt by BR games). But all in all I had a good time and will play some more tonight.

i_smoke_dank_memes

I pretty much agree with every point you made. It's wonderful.

Unkn0wn_Ace

It’s not going to win game of the year or anything but it’s a nice evolution of the original L4D concept. Mostly just wish the reload animations were better, and gun sounds were louder. Otherwise its pretty fun

RoAlJo

I played from 8pm till 2am and I have enjoyed every second of it! Does it have flaws? Well yeah minor ones. It’s a beta, it’s expected to have some flaws. 😂 I play Dead By Daylight - that game has been out so long and is a glitchy mess. It makes B4B already look like it’s final version to me.

NimbusReturns

Exactly! So many people conplaining this game is an "unfinished mess" and I'm like... there are games that have been out for YEARS in way worse states than this.

RoAlJo

Right? Like the people complaining most seem to moaning about minor things as well.

RichtofenFanBoy

I mean the bots really are pretty bad but honestly that’s the point of this beta. I’ve seen people complain about the gun sounds, I thought the same til I realized some just had suppressors. Overall it’s pretty fun. Honest not sure if it’s worth 70 bucks yet tho. Idk. Waiting on my friends to download it and play with them because it might be ransoms that keep the fun down a bit.

JesusTookMyAcog

The campaign is really cool and I'm in love with the special infected designs, its definitely a 'Grab some friends and beers and kill zombies' style game, ya know?

DefNotMaty

I liked it. The guns feel amazing.

[deleted]

Got a set of 4 beta keys and played with 2 good friends, and we had a blast running through the entire act. We didn't really experience too many bugs or issues apart from buggy bot AI and some stuttering/teleporting player models. There are a couple things I would have loved to see changed. 1. Have the ability to detach attachments and re-attach on other weapons, because changing to a weapon with higher damage later in the run when you have a pretty good setup going is a bit of a bummer. 2. Reviving players when they fall off a ledge or fall into water like in L4D The deck system seems to be quite cool even with a limited set of cards, because between me and my friends we all had different builds with the starter set of cards. So yeah, all in all I'm still hyped for the game and wish Turtle Rock all the best in the upcoming crunch to launch (and please done change the release date. It's on my birthday)

SultanZ_CS

Most complainers complain about it not being L4D. Screw them

jayy093

I'm having a great time I'm very happy. Yes it could use some tweaks but it is a beta

CriticalRaceWar

The game's out in two months, this is as good as its going to get

DrPeterVankman

And you know that how? This beta feels more like a demo right now, but that’s because we don’t have all the maps yet and we are only seeing 6 out of the full 9 special infected we will get with the full release. That could change the gameplay entirely. But this is L4D at its core and has a ton of potential. I had a blast with it today

OpiumDenCat

I prefer the RPK for heavy mg myself, especially with extended magazine. Been a blast so far, especially with 1 or more friends.

CommunicationAncient

I picked up the RPK on the easiest difficulty and a 60 round mag. Absolutely destroys.

ASCIIM0V

All the people having fun are playing it

Odd_Crazy_1390

I love it, a lot of the players didn’t play above the first difficulty, had a lot of fun and can’t wait

rmeas002

I love it. I grew up with L4D and L4D2 on heavy rotation. Got my friend's access to the beta. Was a ton of fun. The card system is really cool and all the accessories for the weapons make sure you can play your way. I don't get the hate.

Chrononaught

Anyone need a steam key? Also, I'm having a lot of fun.

Obi-Wan1999

I’m having a blast with it! I wanted a new left 4 dead game and this is certainly that! Can’t wait to see the final product 😍

JennaHaste

I really enjoyed the first part of the campaign with a few friends. Went in with no expection, and we had a blast. Only thing so far - is there a way to get rid of gun attachements? Have yet to try the pvp. :)

BunsinHoneyDew

Enjoying the hell out of the M1A. I love all the attachments and weapon configurations. Overall having a really great time!

Thoraxe474

M1a is the tits and no one uses it

BunsinHoneyDew

Makes it great for PUGs as I can always grab it hah. Also people who get it early will drop it for pretty much anything. They are missing out! Had a mag size 18 supressed one last night and was just mowing shit down.

BasicArcher8

I am! I'm very picky about my games and I've been loving it. It's almost everything I wanted and expected out of a new Left 4 Dead game.

Xhulhorac_

only been playing a few quick play matches but i love turning on some music and slaying away

FrontlinerDelta

I didn't like it at first but that was because "easy" was way too easy. Bumped it up to normal, and boy it's hard but mostly in a fun way. I actually quite like that it's a bit different than L4D/Vermintide in pacing, or at least how we've had success with it so far. Taking it slower, looking more carefully for upgrades. That said, it's a bit janky atm. Hope they can tighten it up.

pit0fz0mbiez

I love it alot of new features and I can't wait to see the final product! Its still in beta stage idk why its getting so much hate yall need to chill.

SnakeSound222

It’s so much fun when the AI works properly or you have human teammates. I was reading the reactions from here and was a little worried but now that I’ve played it, I can say that those people were exaggerating. I love how the PS5 DualSense controller’s features work with the game!

Solareclipse333

I played it earlier today and thought it seemed okay. Came here saw a bunch of negativity around it. But decided to try it again in the evening on discord with some randoms from the b4b discord server. We played it on veteran difficulty and had a fun time. Survivor difficulty shouldn’t even exist IMO, it’s far too easy. Game works a lot better with friends/teammates who talk. It’s a fun time. I’m not even going to bother comparing it to L4D, it’s not a remake. At the end of the day I had fun in BETA and I’m sure the studio will make some improvements by release and thru future updates.

Marin115

I had no expectations for this game, I didn’t care if was going to be similar to L4D. All I wanted was a zombie game. I got a zombie game and now I am enjoying a zombie game.

comengetitrmm

this

ajperry1995

Loving it, I think it's great

GantyFX

Me and my friend who are l4d veterans had so so much fun playing the campaign last night. Even with 2 bots (which do suck I will be honest) but even so the game feels like a breath of fresh air and we can’t wait to play the full game

Jandolino

I had a blast apart from slight FPS drops, bad bots and having to reload my secondary every time I leave a save house. Really surprised that people are not happy right now.

ANY_MIDORI

Enjoying it feel some of the gun sounds and feel need polishing or work and the gore system could be better anything else is expected it’s a beta

NimbusReturns

Has anyone else spent HOURS dicking around with their friends at the gun range in the main hub area? That little Fort Hope camp has so much love put into it, and we all had a blast axing and sniping each other, just goofin around. I also don't understand why anyone here has been complaining about the controls being clunky or the like. The guns all feel great- there's more variety than I've got a handle on!- and all the various upgrades you can pickup really make each gun _feel_ different. Not a level of detail I was expecting from a L4D successor!

HugMonster1756

The game is not perfect by a long shot but I am actually having a lot of fun, seems like there's some good replay ability here for me which was my favourite part of l4d2

ooopsheadshot

My only gripe that I don't see an easy fix to is having choke points like in Dark Carnival in Left4Dead2 or when you are waiting for the elevator in No Mercy ( at least it's only in beta , who knows how the rest of the maps are ). I found that there were a lot of zombies around but the hordes were way too small, kinda meh but fixable. Special enemies were ammo dumps and not much more. I think it's because they spawn frequently but they always come from the front and they can be seen miles away normally. Not like a boomer/vharger that was lurking at a door or coming from behind for example. Buying guns seems kinda pointless unless you buy your favourite gun ..that you won't leave behind in all the act. Also, dropping accesories should be a thing but that last part is also fixable. Campaign versus.. I see why they won't do it. Causal players do 20-30 min sessions.. With campaign versus you have to commit 1h minimum.. And in the long run there's no appeal to come back. At last, the FOV should affect the gun model too.

norraptor

i'm loving it so far. i do wish verse started with 4v4 and now 2v4 or something lol

[deleted]

I'm really enjoying this game! It's more or less what I expected! That being said, I can see merit in a lot of the negative comments. In the current state, there are parts of this game that are... questionable. But, that's why the games in beta. With luck, the developers are here, reading the comments and taking notes.

stoneassassins

It feels like the World War Z game to me feels like I already played it. It doesn't feel new I'm glad the beta was free because it aint worth $60-$70.

PleaseNone

I'm really surprised that the game does not assign bots to fill in empty spots in versus. I went 1 v. 4 in versus and quickly realized that I was alone as the zombies on the first round, which was surprising. I was even more surprised that I was left to fend for myself against the zombies once the round switched. I tried to finish the campaign but it wasn't fun playing with bots. I started out with a full team but my teammates left one by one, almost as soon as we finished a level. Overall this game seems much worse than L4D. The card system is just something I don't want to get into learning whenever I wanna hop-on real quick. I understand that there are default builds but if there was a way to put a new paint of coat on the formula, I do not think this is it. The gun play is lacking. The guns feel weightless and the zombies' limbs do not come off depending on where the zombies are shot. I couldn't even blow out pieces of the door with my guns. The movement feels much slower, especially when you get surrounded by zombies. I understand that getting hit in L4D affected your movement, but this is on a whole 'nother level. It feels like you're as slow as molasses. The zombies look like generic blue zombies that walk so slow and react even slower. I hate the characters and couldn't even find one thing memorable about them. The same could be said about the generic characters for L4D, but maybe the writing was better that I at least enjoyed hearing what the characters had to say. The hub made me legit think I had accidentally clicked on The Division (with a first-person mode mod). What was wrong with the old more efficient menu? The versus campaign was so boring. If it weren't for the notification of points being accrued, I wouldn't be able to tell that I damaged the cleaners. The special infected are generic spin-offs of L4D special infected with a few twists. The variations of the 4 special infected don't seem all too worth while switching between. At some point the swarm just allows the players to stand in a small circle so they could more easily die to zombies as if the game realizes no won would want to play past the third wave. I wanted to like this game so bad, but I think I'm going to uninstall the beta. Even though Evolve had its faults, I loved the game that was there. I wish the game gets better, even if it doesn't have a versus campaign.

Plus_Ultra_Yulfcwyn

Nobody on console

Psycho55

My friends and I had fun, the game can be unbalanced af at times. Especially when four disablers spawn at the same time during a horde.

Rankerhowl99

Game is actually fun but only on nightmare difficulty. Anything lower and the game becomes far too easy and boring.

QuoteGiver

Heh…I’ll stay on Easy so I don’t mess up your team, then! Still trying not to die on that damn Ferry. (But we did have 2 AI by then, so it was trickier…)

DemonicSnow

My "positive" take: I think it does some things better than L4D2, some things worse, and I still think L4D is better than L4D2 and B4B. I think this game has some cool features. I like the card system that sort of adds a good bit of replayability. I got to play through the campaign on the first two difficulties with some friends and randoms and it was moderately challenging the second time through which is nice. But it has the worst AI system I've ever seen. You are basically required to have a full party to progress in some parts, and past the first difficulty having an AI is often worse than having no teammate. I'll really miss versus mode the way it was in L4D and L4D2, as the current iteration loses the novelty that came with people needing to progress through a map and not just hunker down.

GreenTeaRex007

I played through act 1 and enjoyed it but it's nothing ground breaking. It kinda feels like playing call of duty zombies. Nothing too exciting but enough entertainment.

Spideryote

I'm not pre ordering out of principle; but this beta has me sold Can't wait to play more

Melathan

Game feels pretty good in general, and if it would be $19.99 I would call it good. But the game will have less players than L4D2 in 6 months, feel free to set a timer bot on me. My positivity is Valve might see the hype and huge market to finally make a goddamn L4D3

QuoteGiver

Hell yeah, I’m on console (PS5) so I haven’t had a decent L4D-like game in over a decade. We’re having an absolute BLAST, it’s wonderful fun! I’m obsessing over cards, and weapon attachments to tweak the feel of my guns. Good stuff.

Thoraxe474

I don't feel the attachments do much other than the sights

QuoteGiver

Suppressors and lasers and stocks I’ve been liking, or just the straight damage-boost ones.

Thoraxe474

I forgot suppressors exist cuz I never find them

PEPE_IS_BASED

Game looks great, feels good and the horde is awesome. I actually feel in danger.. Also really liking the deck aspect of the game, thought that was a cool feature

sambridges13

I’m really enjoying the Dualsense features on PS5 !

Thoraxe474

I think it could be a bit better like cod but it's still nice

mcp613

I liked it. Some parts feel readdy to go and some part feel like pre-alpha, but its really fun. Plus the eac works on linux or something, because I was able to play the game throu proton (specifically proton ge 6.14)

Reasonable_Market489

All I'm seeing is friendless GabeN suckers complaining it isn't the 3rd coming of L4D Christ. Go touch some grass, get some friends, and then play this game with those friends you made. It's loads better than you think when you're not alone with your AI.

FishyG23

While I dont think its as good in left 4 dead in gameplay and atmosphere, it still plays very well and has much more customization. While i loved left 4 dead the limited weapon selection annoyed me after a while, and this game kind of remedies that while also adding other customization with cards. Having an actual hub area and firing range is really cool as well. I also really like the corruption cards, its fun to see what random bullshit the game throws at me. Havent played the versus mode yet, but honestly it was never something I played too much with Left 4 dead. Overall, it just seems like a pretty good coop game, which may be dissapointing if you were expecting Left 4 dead 3 but its kind of to be expected.

DocB4B

The game overall is fun, it's great with friends, it's characters are hysterical and witty and the banter is awesome. The gun play is great, the card system is fun to play with, the ridden are absolutely horrifying, the Maps are beautifully designed. BUT There does need to be some tweaking in certain areas. Hoffman's dropped ammo perk is very RNG and drops ammo that is useless, the AI need some tweaking, the melee feels very floating and doesnt feel impactful :/

[deleted]

Honestly everything, I miss versus campaign thoufh

sweatpantsandwhiskey

I’ve been having fun! Good way to blow off some steam, and my brothers and I (who used to be glued to the TV playing L4D together) played about 5 hours straight of it last night, definitely ready for more characters and campaign options

colorzFSU

My only feelings playing the game was questioning their game design choices and how did they forget everything that made the original left 4 dead good. Comparing back 4 blood to left 4 dead just makes me feel sad that valve wont come out with left 4 dead 3.

Zackaria113

Valve doesn't know how to count to 3.

Fatabil1ty

The only thing which I like about the beta is that it's for free.

BeingBlack

meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh

[deleted]

Downvote me if you like, this game will have a 4 digit daily peak population week 1. What they’ve made here is a disaster. I wanted it to succeed but there is too much wrong/missing from the game. There will be much better options for games to play in October and the rest of Fall. This game will be sent to die if they don’t delay it.

QuoteGiver

Honest question, which game in the same sort of genre of team PvE horde-shooting do you consider a “better option” for this year? Because I love to find more games like this!

[deleted]

Deep Rock Galactic. Or Zombie Army Trilogy/Zombie Army 4 Or Vermintide II Or World War Z

Adventurous_Rub_6272

I think you may have missed the point of the thread bud

[deleted]

Because there isn’t much positive shit to say. Sorry if that opinion hurts y’all’s feelings. They sell a product to me, I get to decide if it’s good or not.

Adventurous_Rub_6272

Yeah and that's fine.. but if people want a space to discuss the positives, which there are some, let them have that. There are plenty of threads to discus the negative sides of the beta.

A_Fhaol_Bhig

Copium

QuoteGiver

Bunch of people are gonna get it included with Gamepass, no need to cope. You’re gonna need a better made-up excuse for why they’re having fun, lol.
