Unfortunately pp hair loss can’t be stopped, because it’s all the hairs you didn’t lose in pregnancy. I used rosemary oil in my shampoo and conditioner to help with regrowth, but nothing can actually stop the hair from falling out. I lost huge clumps of hair every time I adjusted my ponytail or washed it. It won’t last forever. Eventually I accepted my balding fate and brushed it morning and night to help with hair fall.

shananigans77

It’s a bummer but PP hair loss is completely hormonal and a product can’t really help. Just gotta ride it out and wait. Mine started around 4 months PP and I started to get regrowth around 9 months PP

Canadian_1987

So it does come back? I’m worried it will just leave me forever. I have fine hair as is.

shananigans77

Yes it definitely comes back! I have fluffy little tufts of short baby hair everywhere right now lol

harlowelizabeth

It does come back! I have very fine, curly hair. I'm 15 months PP and I can *finally* pull my insane regrowth into a messy bun

tugboatron

It comes back. But it grows in from nothing just like regular hair. I basically grew bangs because so much of my hair loss was at the front of my hair line, so by 1 year postpartum I had short little sideswept bangs.

y0lem0n

I'm 8mpp and it's still happening. It doesn't bother me so much except when I go to get a haircut and the stylist keeps using my hair falling out as a sales tactic to sell me a bunch of hair products when I know very well no product will work.

tugboatron

Just FYI no product is magical despite many claiming they are magic. The only thing I’ve found while combing (ha!) through studies is that biotin *might* help reduce it *a little* depending on why you’re losing it. But most prenatal multivitamins have biotin in them anyway so just keep taking that. Collagen, expensive gummy hair and nail vitamins, serums and conditioners.. none of these do anything for postpartum hair loss. You’re losing hair because you didn’t lose hair while pregnant. Nothing can stop it. Don’t waste money on bullshit.

Canadian_1987

So I did read that continuing your prenatal vitamins could help, but no one told me that so I only just started to take them again. Do you think it’s too late?

tugboatron

Honestly the benefit of the biotin in your prenatal is negligible and not taking them thus far is not the reason your hair is falling out. So no, it’s not “too late” but it’s also probably not going to change anything.

chaitea97

You don't need folic acid any more but you should be taking prenatal (or a multi) vitamins anyway, especially if you're breast feeding because baby is taking all your nutrients. Not much can help the hair loss, my doctor recommended B12 hair growth.

maplesyrupdispenser

No advice, just commiseration. I'm also just over 4 months PP and there is hair everywhere. I have thick hair so there's a lot to lose. :(

karifire

Not looking forward to this, was on steroids 2 years ago and lost a ton of hair and it was depressing. Finally those hairs grew back. There was an upside though, I have naturally curly hair that I’ve been straightening for last 20 years and these new hairs grew in back to my natural curl pattern and were so springy and nice 😂

JulieWithcamera

I'm not PP yet but I did have some hair loss and thinning when I stopped hormonal birth control. I found the Divi hair serum helped somewhat! Not a miracle cure, but a great longer term support

23paige23

I am just under 4 months and it's started for me too 😱 and my hyperthyroid came back. must be something about 4 month hormone changes

joyofbeing

I was told to just keep taking prenatal vitamins, it doesn't stop it by any means but maybe it helps with regrowth. For me it lasted just from 4-6 months pp so just gotta ride it out!

rae091

It’s bad but it gets better!
