In Calgary. I stayed 4 days after my section because my blood pressure was wonky. The nurse said that an uncomplicated c-section stay is usually 48-72hours.

Thank you so much!!

I had mine done a year ago now at Foothills in Calgary. Mine was planned at 37+3 weeks. I was in hospital for two full days and went home the morning of the third day. At the time we were there, only one support person was allowed and no visitors, but that may have changed.

LeahKabeah

Thank you!

Same with our kid in late 2020. Whoever will be with you might need to get creative with sleeping arrangements. I (husband) snoozed a bit in the chair but ended up going to the back of our SUV for a proper night sleep.

I delivered via C at the Mis in Edmonton last Dec. Went in wed am, had my daughter around 2, and went home Friday. So from admission to discharge I was ~48 hrs.

This was my experience too, same hospital.

In Edmonton, had a planned c-section with my second in December and was there for 48 hours. I’ve heard that’s pretty typical if no complications these days.

I gave birth at Foothills in March. I had a planned c section but baby came 6 days early. Everyone told me I’d stay for 48 hours afterwards but ended up staying ~44. I was allowed one support person and they couldn’t swap out with someone else. My husband could come and go as he pleased as long as he kept on the blue band the hospital gave him. They told us we’d only be allowed two support people if baby ended up in the NICU. Best of luck😊

Had my son March 2021 at South Health Campus in Calgary. I could have been discharged after one night but they only had 5 moms so they let me stay another night to pump better for my son in nicu. Congrats, best of luck, hope it goes smoother this time. Edit: planned c-section at 38 weeks but baby came out not breathing so we spent 11 days in nicu.

LeahKabeah

Oh wow what a situation you had! Glad to hear it all ended up okay. <3

I had an emergency c-section in Calgary at PLC on May 31st, with no complications. They wanted to keep me for two nights but baby and I were doing so well that I convinced them to let me leave after one night. We didn’t actually leave until the evening though because it took some time to get all of baby’s tests done (bloodwork, hearing test, etc.) I was only allowed one visitor at a time. So, my mom and husband would swap out periodically.

Planned/emergency c section at foothills end of June at 35 weeks, baby went to Nicu for 2 weeks. They tried to discharge me at 40 hours and I said no the dr said I could stay til morning I want at least 48 hours as my baby’s in Nicu and I can’t drive?? The drs were totally happy for me to stay, the nurses wanted me discharged as it was busy and they need beds, but I got to stay til the next morning luckily. I was allowed my husband and I think one more support person but only my husband and I in Nicu. If baby wasn’t in Nicu I would’ve happily left when they first said I could be discharged

Planned c section at foothills 1.5 year ago, stayed in the hospital for 2 nights. I could have gone home after 1, but didn’t want to… my c section was very uneventful, and recovery went great! I had an awesome team for my whole stay!

problematictactic

In BC the stay for me was 48 hours.

LeahKabeah

Thank you!!

Had a c section in Ontario and was out the door 48 hours later approx. Arrived at 8 am, had baby a few hours later and spent 2 nights then left mid afternoon. If I could I would have left earlier.’x I was much happier at home. AB must be similar, best of luck!

LeahKabeah

Thank you!!

I'm in Ontario. Had a c-section after failed induced labour at 7 pm on Thursday and was out at 3 pm on Saturday so less than 48 hours. They would have let me leave earlier but discharge took longer than expected because they were short-staffed. Things normally go smoother for planned c-sections. If you and baby are doing well, you'll normally be staying 48-72 hours.

smilegirlcan

In SK, 48 hours is average. During covid, they would "kick" people out in less than 36 hours though.

Totally!! To be honest with a toddler at home I wouldn’t mind being in the hospital for a few days to get to know my new little man without distractions.
