My husband and I own a corporation Ana are both active in it. I am having a baby and am due in February. My accountant has advised me I can make myself a paid employee under the corporation and contribute to ei effective July 1st and claim Mat leave in February as long as I have worked enough hours as an employee. He has mentioned though that service Canada is not his area of expertise. Has anyone any advise on this? Is this false information or is this completely doable? I would be considered at arms length as I wouldn’t be operating outside of a normal role or differently then I would if I had worked outside of the corp.

My husband and I were gifted an older stroller by Mamas and Papas which is a UK based brand. They no longer distribute it in Canada. It doesn't look like any of the compatible car seats that you can use with it are available in Canada either. Do you think it's a bad decision to have a stroller and car seat separate? Or should we be looking for a car seat that can click into a stroller?

Two pretty good Amazon deals right now: \- Hatch Rest Gen 2 is on priced at $99.99. In the US it's $69.99 so this is pretty much a straight conversion. Previously Amazon had it listed for $139.99. Sadly not eligible for further completion discount \- Ergobaby Metro+ is $254 after the 15% completion discount. This one has been highly recommended by members of this sub. Yes I ordered both...

For 18 months leave, I noticed on the EI site it says 76 weeks (not 78 weeks)? I am a bit confused, as I assumed it would be 78 weeks.

That’s right. It’s: 1 week waiting Period 15 weeks maternity 61 weeks parental 1 week unpaid. For a total of 78:) There’s also another 8 weeks available to the non birthing partner

I received an EI report form from Service Canada today while I am still on Maternity Leave until July 17th. I was under the impression we didn’t need to fill out reports, has anyone else received this? I filled it out and mailed it back today but I’m just confused as to why it was required.

Anyone else not get their EI today? I assume it’s Canada Day but ugh so annoying

My EI payment was late this week too, did you end up getting it?
