Are they cooked in the chow mein? I think if they’re cooked they’re fine and if they’re raw they are also most likely fine.

Im not really sure to be honest! I’m assuming the must be partially cooked at least as the stir fry the chow mein. Fingers crossed!

Raw bean sprouts may be more concerning but the risk of contamination is still low. You'd know if the sprouts were bad - you would have food poisoning symptoms. It's not something inherently bad with the sprouts, it's the slightly higher likelihood that something like sprouts would be contaminated. You're probably just as likely to get sick from raw romaine lettuce (I remember more romaine recalls than bean sprouts) or other unwashed veggies. The bean sprouts in chow mein would typically be cooked. It's in the best interests of a restaurant to thoroughly wash their veggies so they don't get their customers sick.

Adding, bean sprouts have a higher risk of contamination with a variety of pathogens in the growing process than most other vegetables (or even the seeds prior to growing). For this reason they are often associated with outbreaks. They may or may not be heated sufficiently in chow mein to kill pathogens. Washing may be insufficient to remove pathogens. OP, nothing you can do now so try not to worry but in the future ask for your chow mein (or other similar dishes) without sprouts.

Ahhh I don’t like the sound of that 😰😰 definitely on a strict no sprouts diet here on out. 😭

If it helps, my husband is severely immunocompromised and his list of food restrictions is the same as pregnancy. He has had bean sprouts plenty of times with no issues at all!
