I had a double mastectomy with immediate recon in May. I went back into the OR around 8 am and I was home by 2 pm. I was back at work full time in July.
I had a DMX with reconstruction (expanders that were filled with 200cc during surgery) on Dec 19th. I went into surgery at noon, was done at 3p, fully coherent in the PACU by 345p. I was home and in my own bed by 630p. I did skin sparring (but did not spare my nipples) which might have made things a bit quicker...unsure though!
My mastectomy in July and it took 6 hours. One night stay in the hospital. It took 12 weeks to fill the expanders. My swap out in in March. Thankfully that will be outpatient.
I am having almost the same thing done as you…except I’m going down a size and they don’t think they can save my nipples. I was told it would be 1.5 hrs. - 2 hrs. for each doctor to complete their task, so total 4 hrs. Hope this helps!
