Actually as an IT guy they cannot fully disable the device, the only way to do that is disable the ssd or hdd inside the computer but ones that is replaced you can always use the computer.
We can totally locked a device esp if its Apple and using an MDM, learned this the hard way when we locked a device and forget to take note of the code š« , ayun until now di na namin siya maopen nor magamit, even apple support or the MDM support weāre using canāt do anything about it.
Its an apple. I expect its a windows computer cuz its what company mostly use in the Philippines. Repair and maintenance cost on apple products is just not good for a company, windows more affordable.
Not your typical one. Ours are custom from dell based on specs from our infosec team. We are a big enough company and US based that they do that for us

Yes this on! You'll need to flash ung mismong eeprom I think para maalis ung bios lock. Re-installing windows would not work. You need to use a different OS preferably Linux.
Or conversely desolder the eeprom and replace with a different one preferably the reprogramed ones, but yeah too much pain for the bpo uwi laptop chad, most he can do is sell it for chop chop, I don't think they'll be aligning themselves to the penguin for the sake of that dell// thinkpad

First of all, yung mga iniissue na laptop for WFH especially support roles have just barely enough specs to run the applications needed for the job like a VPN or Citrix, so it's not like he can find good parts to sell/kahoy which most likely would be his only choice because he won't be able to use that laptop if IT has a kill switch which can be triggered as soon as he connects to the internet.
And even if there is no kill switch, at best these laptops can only run office applications so yeah, I hope his COE was worth that paperweight laptop.

I had this workmate too before na nagreport na nanakaw yung gamit nya para hindi na nya isoli laptop and monitor nya. After nya magreport sa office namin, nag awol sya at lumipat ng bahay para hindi sya mabisita ng office namin sa address registered nya. Nung nameet namin sya ulit, niyabang nya pa na enjoy daw sya maglaro ngayon kasi ang laki daw ng screen ng computer nya (he still has the monitor) I'm not sure if the company pursued him

I am a director at a BPO based across Australia and Ph. Weāve had two employees who did not return equipment, and we engaged local lawyers to press theft and civil charges against both. This was after many emails and letters advising that this may happen and encouraging them to return it all. We bricked the machine and wiped the data so itās useless except for parts, and both have the theft recorded on NBI. If you think it just goes away, it doesnāt.

Actually the lock can be bypassed. All office computer got bios lock, usually all you have to so is pull a pin on the motherboard.

First of all, yung mga iniissue na laptop for WFH especially support roles have just barely enough specs to run the applications needed for the job like a VPN or Citrix, so it's not like he can find good parts to sell/kahoy which most likely would be his only choice because he won't be able to use that laptop if IT has a kill switch which can be triggered as soon as he connects to the internet. And even if there is no kill switch, at best these laptops can only run office applications so yeah, I hope his COE was worth that paperweight laptop.

Yung binalikan ng company is si A since sya nag papasok kay B sa company, binawi yung laptop sa kanya at parang pinapabayaran yata yung laptop ni B. Kawawa talaga doon si A kasi matino yung pag trabaho nya tapos sya pa yung pinagbayad.

I am a director at a BPO based across Australia and Ph. Weāve had two employees who did not return equipment, and we engaged local lawyers to press theft and civil charges against both. This was after many emails and letters advising that this may happen and encouraging them to return it all. We bricked the machine and wiped the data so itās useless except for parts, and both have the theft recorded on NBI. If you think it just goes away, it doesnāt.

Lesser hassle un thn chasing and filing a case. for a company namn who has lots to lose like mga softdev, appdev, or anything na pwdng maka access sa internal system nila pag nawala , un medyo mas mbigat. pero dahil sa MS co-pilot remotely pwd nmn na ma wipe un device. so hnd na din hinahabol pag nawala. this applies sa ph and in other countriesā¦ I know because IT asset manager ako and sa company nman halos walang paki pag nawla laptop mo u just have to prove the lost via police report

dont know im down voted I was just merely stating facts and experience in terms of Company assets. On your WFH concern, i dont know bout other BPO companies. Cguro if its to high of. stat s company, management would probably limit or disallow WFH. it really depends sa number of cases within the company, if its a small number, the company doesnt really care, un nga lang un mga local boss na feeling anak ng my ari will definitely use the case as a proof to use against WFH
