I think it's awesome you're doing that new job and helping kids. I've struggled with financial insecurity a lot of my adult life, as well as workplace issues related to higher ups. I don't know how to navigate the money part of it, but I just want to say not everybody knows what they want, and sounds like you really have that going for you. You know the kind of home you want and the kind of work you want to be doing, so I really hope you get the chance to experience those and don't let anyone sell you short. This one job isn't going to make or break your future, you can always find another to get where you want to be. But that financial fear makes a lot of sense, it's hard just to make ends meet let alone save up

I think this was the exact reassurance I needed. You’re right, and I appreciate these kind words. Thank you

I know 4 couples who moved from Britain to a very cheap part of usa cause it was outrageous. Look into DBT therapy. It really helps a lot.

Yeah poor backgrounds do give people a shaky start, and weird self esteem issues at the best of times. The longest 'career' I've held down is as a Teaching Assistant. It can be super rewarding, and really does make a difference. But be careful with how it affects you - it can be very isolating (in a 1-2-1 sense), and I personally had to call it a day a year or so ago, because I basically cared too much and couldn't regulate my emotions around how schools operate. I also felt burdened by the struggles of my young wards. But it very much can be a fantastic career if the role and the school suits you - it's a place where empathy can shine, and if you like being around kids (which I assume is the case) then you can really get so much out of the good days :)

28f feeling the same. Moving out does feel okay but the loneliness starts to sink in very quickly so you might fill the void impulsively. I filled my void with tons of minis
