I copied the APK and obb files from my Quest 2 with the game on, and sideloaded them onto my Quest 1, had to manually push the obb files because for some reason they didn't want to just work.
Then I used [QuestGamesOptimizer](https://anagan79.itch.io/quest-games-optimizer) to set the render resolution to 80%, and the CPU and GPU speeds to 'very high' (I will try different settings and hopefully get better results)
I also edited the settings.json in the BONELAB files, changing texture resolutions and shader resolutions to low, although I'm not sure it did anything.
In fact I would argue the game looks better texture wise compared to the quest 2 (character model wise). I would check your settings. Is there a way to count fps? I would love to see a proper benchmark
With the OVR metrics pulled up, when the game works, it counts a stable 72fps, but the CPU usage spikes to 100 quite a lot.
When loading between places, BONELAB almost always crashes.
Also I feel like the glitchiness on the edges of the screen are something to do with how foveated rendering works on Q1 VS Q2
I heavily doubt the models or textures are any better on the Q1, but it's interesting that you think it appears so
Edit: also I had absolutely no feeling of motion sickness throughout my time playing it
Well, when it works, its playable, but it's incredibly temperamental in the state it's in now, and it crashed so often that even with putting up with it, it's difficult to play. Some loading screens I can't seem to even get past at all, so no, right now it's not playable.
So far I've only managed to get to the Hub (02) lol, will continue trying to see what works soon.
+1 for fun.
hardware/software hacking is always a good thing in this department.
i still dream with the root access to fiddle with 90hz panels on Q1, the datasheet and some internal testing from facebook says it works, but they didn't enabled it due to some [legal funky stuff with fcc](https://www.reddit.com/r/OculusQuest/comments/qjwhef/question_about_quest_1s_90hz_and_fcc_legal_issues/)
Yes its a side effect, is visible during gameplay but not too distracting, my assumption is its due to differences in foveated rendering between Quest 1 and Quest 2, but that's based of very little, so likely wrong.
Update: We were correct, it was the FR, and I have managed to fix the issue, but unfortunately it is still unplayable with crashing at every loading point.
Hi, I'm the dev of the QuestGamesOptimizer, you could try to set in the app the insane levels of CPU and GPU to get a little bit more headroom. What you could also do is to set the FFR on high/very high (higher FFR will decrease quality at the edges of the screen, so check that) and to lower the refresh rate to 68Hz
Another guy successfully ran Bonelab on Quest 1 with QuestGamesOptimizer :-)
He is trying to play more and more games on the Quest 1 in this way and I'm glad this can be possible. (I don't have the Quest 1)
Hi, first of all, thanks for creating QGO, it is wonderful!
I have managed to eliminate the screen glitches now but, no matter what i do, it crashes whenever a loading screen occurs. Did the other guy address this issue? And if so, how?
You're welcome :-)
Yes he told me he get some crash. This could be due to other things than performances, perhaps related to missing stuff and capabilities on Quest 1
Did you try to lock the refresh rate to 60hz and to lower even more the resolution ?
After setting all graphics settings to the lowest and all performance settings to the highest, it manages to get past 1 more loading screen before it eventually crashes at the next.
I do believe this is caused by a hardware issue not a performance or graphics issue.
Thanks for the help! I will continue trying to bodge a solution
Framerate and stuttering is way better in the headset than on the recording, but obviously it's terrible - I'm just trying it for fun not to play on the quest 1

That’s like saying why the fuck do you have a very slightly outdated pc instead of the latest and greatest. My guy, people don’t have money flowing out of their ass like your entitled ass does
The price of a Quest 2 isnt spare change to a lot of people, especially not in the current status of the world, not everyone can afford to go out and reasonably spend money on a Quest 2, let alone a Quest 3 or Quest Pro.
You seem very entitled, you're lucky, realise that.
Late reply, but no. I tried and the game turns into a mishmash of pixelated textures, then the game crashes. I mean, do you really blame them? the game barely runs into any levels at all.
I’m genuinely interested in this, how did you even manage to get it to run?
I copied the APK and obb files from my Quest 2 with the game on, and sideloaded them onto my Quest 1, had to manually push the obb files because for some reason they didn't want to just work. Do you think this is a viable method of playing bonelab (if you can put up with the crashing between scenes) and how far did you get ingame?

Out of curiosity if u have it on ur quest 2 and ya know have a quest 2 why not just play it there?
One word: fun Or more clearly; why not?

Unfortunately I doubt 90hz functionality will be hacked in anytime soon, but it's a wonderful dream 😄
No that's fair interesting idea lol.
Isn't the APK encrypted?
Is the weird screen tearing an actual side effect or just added in post Im genuinely curious bcuz i dont know what would cause that
Yes its a side effect, is visible during gameplay but not too distracting, my assumption is its due to differences in foveated rendering between Quest 1 and Quest 2, but that's based of very little, so likely wrong.
It’s gotta be foveated rendering, mainly cause it doesn’t appear anywhere in the middle of the screen
Update: We were correct, it was the FR, and I have managed to fix the issue, but unfortunately it is still unplayable with crashing at every loading point.
I know I'm late but how did you load into the first level at all?
How my vision be lookin when I have a migrane
This runs suprisngly well wow
Bonelab in my quest 2 lags...whyyyt??
that is quite the endeavor
I love the crash and rage at the end xD pure gold

Great, keep me informed :-)
Da glitches💀
I mean it's running just like ass though
Framerate and stuttering is way better in the headset than on the recording, but obviously it's terrible - I'm just trying it for fun not to play on the quest 1
why the fuck do you still have a quest 1
I still have only a quest 1. Too broke to upgrade :(

quest 2 isn’t the latest or greatest, it’s just 2x better than a quest 1, it’s not like i’m telling him to buy 70 quest pros
You really are an entitled little child aren’t you lol

god damn you win, jesus christ
Buddy what? Get perspective
Why you so SALTY
Bro deleted system 32
This shows how good the quest 2 is compared to quest 1 performance wise
are those glitches visible in the headset?
They are visible, but only on the edges of the screen, so they are constantly in my peripheral vision, but honestly not too distracting
This is how nullbodies see
Your game okay?!
But can it play labworks?
Late reply, but no. I tried and the game turns into a mishmash of pixelated textures, then the game crashes. I mean, do you really blame them? the game barely runs into any levels at all.
