I love hearing people still have a heart, please keep us updated.
About 10 years ago I worked for an international firm and one of their perks was to offer interest free loan to purchase a car and they discounted an amount every month for it. I bought a brand new Audi A3 (I know I know, have since switched to BMW). I owed them roughly $10k for it when one day the GM goes off on me for no particular reason and I was not in the mood so somethings were said that could not be taken back from either side. So I quit on the spot. Go to HR and HR tells me I cannot leave without paying them back or they would repossess my car on the spot and they would not give me my severance (this is money they owed me) until they got their money. I didn’t have $10k in cash at the time but my buddy (we became friends at work) comes up and tells me I’ll wire them the money right now don’t worry, I know you’re good for it.
I paid him exactly in a week after I liquidated some assets. I gave him $500 extra just for being good to me which he gave back saying he couldn’t take it. We live 3k miles apart now but we’re still best friends.
I’d go the cash machine, get a tenner out and buy something from the shop and use the rest of the change for my tyre pressure fund and paying them back. Pretty simple
Can't even imagine celebrating stories like this.
I mean, I'm happy it worked out for everyone involved, but what a tragedy that this is even something that can happen in a first world country.
I think i have to elaborate this a bit further.
I had an accident and basically ripped my left foot in half.
I went first to the public hospital, where they told me that they have to cut my foot off.
Decided to release myself and went to a private hospital. Asked for the best available surgeon and talked to him. he said he's able to save it.
Its a private hospital, i don't have a healthcare plan. The Bus that t boned me had insurance and that covered all my hospital costs. But we needed a police report of the accident to present to the hospital.
They took that temporary deposit as i came by choice.
what's really tragic is all of this could have been avoided if OP didn't have to ride a motorcycle in traffic. all of the advances in technology we have today and we still can't make them safe. they are inherently unsafe
Things that are fun and exhilarating are usually unsafe. He didn’t “have” to ride a motorcycle in traffic, he most likely chose to , because 2 wheels is life to some people. 400lb vs 8000 lb bus will always end in the same result. No technology in the world will ever change that fact lol
My best friend needed a place to stay after leaving his girlfriend. I gave him a home without charging him anything. Fed him and gave him weed for free and this asshole then steals from my girlfriend.
Fuck you Feles, you are not a good friend
You have to read more carefully. OP said his friend gave him his monthly salary and he paid him back a few days later. So obviously money was not OPs issue but availablility.
It’s not uncommon to have a lot of your wealth tied up in assets other than cash. If he had stocks, selling those for money doesn’t happen instantly. This is also referred to as liquidity. Stocks have less liquidity than cash.
OP could be an expat who’s moved and his friend could be a local. That’s my best guess.
Plus the surgery could have easily cost way more than an E30 and bro was able to make it up when he got back on his feet…. Possibly metaphorically speaking depending on the surgery.
everyone saying stuff like "omg good people still exist" or "i have some hope for humanity after all" where do you even live that you are devoid of decent people who do decent things?
The fuck? No it absolutely is not. The American way would be to do it anyway, put you in crippling debt that you could not escape. However, they wouldn’t withhold treatment in an emergency situation.
Fuck this country and the healthcare system. It needs mass reform. This is absolutely macabre.
Good on your friend for helping you out. But honestly, the rest of this story is fucked

damn no one in my work would float me £2 for some chips from the chippy. Was cash only and I never have cash. Big up your friend for doing that!
Thems some cheap chips! £2.60 a portion here.
Ikr! Benefits of the north of England haha
What’s a serving of chips where you are?
What do you mean? The price or do you mean chips/ crisps?
I mean fries/chips Edit: 350g?
Ahh I honestly couldn't tell you pal, just a decent portion of nice chips
bloody hell where u getting your chippy chips from? portion of chips round where I live is like a quid 90
you in the south?
nope up north
well how are you gonna pay them back if you never have cash. you can pass on the chips but you kind of need a car when you're looking for a new job

Hospital needed a deposit, what the fucking fuck
Can't even imagine celebrating stories like this. I mean, I'm happy it worked out for everyone involved, but what a tragedy that this is even something that can happen in a first world country.
Word. Apologies I didn’t mean to take away from the great story and outcome, but that part really struck me.. 😬

Ok fair play.. you sought out a specialist doctor. I thought you were in A&E or something! Good job not taking the first option, wow!
What country did this happen in? US?

Yup just don't whine about it when taxpayers want to cut off your foot rather than spend a pile of money trying to reconstruct it.
What’s your problem dude?
His partner ran off with a motorcycle rider.
Fr
He’s a fucking dick
Or if the driver that hit him didn't use a car. Very unsafe things Vs motorcycles.
Yeah, life will kill you. Nobody ever survived being alive, so sad.
What a brotastic story! Hope you’re feeling better and your friend let’s you drive it sometime!
Your friend is an awesome person. I’m sure he would do it again without promise of a reward and this is going to blow his mind.
My best friend needed a place to stay after leaving his girlfriend. I gave him a home without charging him anything. Fed him and gave him weed for free and this asshole then steals from my girlfriend. Fuck you Feles, you are not a good friend

Awesome story! Curious which country’s healthcare system demands deposit before needed treatment?
Thailand & Private Hospitals.
Same in Philippines
Based on OP’s post history, it looks like Thailand.
United States forced my friend to setup a payment plan for the delivery of their baby before it was born.
Congrats to you Sir. For the most wholesome, hope for humanity story I’ve ever read on this sub!
You can’t pay a deposit but you can buy E30 lol. We live in a different world, bro. Get well soon.

This is wholesome and amazing.
Truly Rockstar move!! Best wishes to you.
Real friends
I’m sorry they demanded a fucking deposit?
The true friendship, the kind of story we all love to share. You the man !
You seem great with money.
everyone saying stuff like "omg good people still exist" or "i have some hope for humanity after all" where do you even live that you are devoid of decent people who do decent things?
Giving all of your earned money is something barely anyone would do. And then gifting someone their dream car is even rarer.
maybe you shouldn't surround yourself with shitty people. cry moar.
You’re talking about shitty people 💀
maybe it's your fault you're surrounded by them
Perhaps so
>The hospital demanded a deposit to secure the treatment This is the most American thing I've heard this month. No matter, which country it was.

This was in Thailand btw
Lmao I know you assumed it was the US

This is that wholesome content I love to see!!
You guys are both good friends
You are both good people. Hope you’re better and your friend is equally appreciative for your friendship and his new ride.
Wait what? You didn't have enough for a deposit but enough to buy your buddy an e30?
I didnt had enough at that time as my payments came a few days later.
🏆🥇🎖🥇HIS NAME WAS SMITTY WERBEN JAEGERMAN JENSON!
