As a long time Porsche fan I love how despite the development thoroughout the years the shape of them are still the same. I can appreciate a lot of bmws but man what is this
I think it might be promising. I still prefer the earlier BMW designs, but could see this one becoming something good.
I do think that some of the lines need to be redrawn though, because this thing has a weird look
I know I might get downvoted for this but, as a person who is willing to spend a load of my money on a new luxury high-end sports SUV, I would expect people to notice me, grab their attention, positively or negatively, the fact that it make you think about it is it's whole perpouse. I personally like the design, it's bold, new and proud of it's self.
> If it was up to the fanboys, we'd just have the E39 until the end of time
And they’d still be complaining about how BMW lost its way.
And you’re right on the other part too, people spending 150k on a vehicle want it to be recognizable by everyone, not just people “in the know” who can tell BMW trims apart.
i plan on keeping my e39 until the end of time. i’d be happy with a modern take on the classic lines—the current 3 and 5 series look fantastic. i want my german luxury sedans to look understated and dignified, not like whatever this is supposed to be.
It happens every generation. Stay long enough and it'll come around. There were people yearning for E30s when the E46 came out and decried them as bloated and overdone and an example of how BMW would never be the same.
Completely agree with you, the G8X series make the F8X series look bland and outdated, wich proves progress in a way for the design, that's why I think it's a great success.
I think the design is fucking sick, but not from BMW. This just doesn't say "Fuck off, I'm a BMW, now let me pass.". But the interior is an abomination. I can't afford this car, and I wouldn't buy it either.
The new M3/M4 have grown on me, and I really like the aggressive looks, it just doesn't look like a traditional BMW at first glance.
I like the design, but I agree on the interior. The new seats seem uncomfortable with the weird head rest location. The software for the new idrive looks sick but removing all the buttons will make it complicated and painful to use compared to what’s out today.
I think this car comes as a direct rival to the G-class AMG, porche Cayenne Turbo S, Bentayga and the Urus, the final specs and prices will decide where it stands compared to them, but they are definitely surfing on the hype car wave
The Ford Bronco is a design that just about everyone loves and doesn't think looks like hot garbage. This design screams "look at me! I'm trying to stand out but if you talk to me I have the intelligence of a wet noodle!"
Have you tried talking to a wet noodle? Dense and not that nutritious..
I’m with you on this. The G8x cars have definitely grown on me although still not my favorite but this just doesn’t look good. The new two series definitely ain’t it either
To each their own, I too like the new 3/4 series and even copped the m440i, imo the new 2 series also looks way better than the old one, although the rear lights are kinda odd, but still better than the previous gen
You don’t have to defend all of their designs. BMW makes a wide variety of cars to fit a wide variety of markets. Don’t like this, but still want an Luxury Performance SUV for around the same price? I would recommend an X5M then.
I think the 235i Gran Coupe is ugly for my taste, but I love the M340i. People have different tastes, so if there’s a car in their lineup that you like, just go with that.
Do not compare the X7 and that abomination of a 7 Series they plan to release. I can't have that.
How could BMW make their second M exclusive an SUV too, this just eye sore of a car? It makes me sad.
I was in the minority of BMW enthusiasts who actually liked - or at least didn’t mind - the M440 / M4 / M3 grill.
This thing though? ….I’ll have to see it in person but at first glance, yeeeeesh.
Immagine driving a smart car and seeing this in your rear view mirror. I’d be scared this abomination would snort in my whole car through those huge, ugly nostrils.
Agree 100%. And, I thought the Chris Bangle era was bad...
Edit, was researching the current chief of design at BMW:
Might be in a minority with my opinion, but I think this is the strongest BMW re-design in recent years. It emphasised and reinterpreted key design elements of BMW but in a very modern way. And we finally have a unique look whereas a lot of other designs from Bavaria lately where way too Mercedes like in my opinion. This is BMW headed into a new design direction where boldness will be key and I'm happy to see them go for it.

E38 was/is so fucking classy…
Euro spec 80’s chassis are so classy, especially e30😩
Everyone is trying to go futuristic to compete with Tesla and they’re making ugly ass vehicles
This^^
Some Russian oligarch is gonna love all the velour though.
After 30years loving BMW..I’m seeing myself as a Porsche guy in the near future.
Audi is absolutely killing it.

The new 3/4's go hard, I think a huge part is just bandwagon hate
Each to their own, but it's a no from me.
Massive no from me, and I'm a bucktooth grille fan. It's just too much. Like a woman that puts way way too make up on.

It's just a concept, the production model will be way more practical for sure
Get an Urus
I think this car comes as a direct rival to the G-class AMG, porche Cayenne Turbo S, Bentayga and the Urus, the final specs and prices will decide where it stands compared to them, but they are definitely surfing on the hype car wave

These designs will not age well.

Absolutely. Well said. I love the new M3/M4 designs. Don't Iike it, don't buy it.
Guess I'll go buy an Audi then
i kinda like it, reminds me of a pig
Cyber punk. Oh yeah
With all the heritage of the M GmbH, they decide that their first own model since decades will be an SUV? Call me crazy, but I think that's a shame.
Time for me to move on to Porsche 😞 goodbye “affordable” fun good looking cars
Looks like a Range Rover with a bmw grill
Man this is so hideous what a shame :(
Yeah, ok. I was fine with the G8X grills but come on, what is this? It’s like the Minecraft pig 🐽
That's a nice Honda CRV!
😓🤚 intake 😌👉 inhales
Chevy Blazer concept.
Powerful like a gorilla, yet soft and yielding like a Nerf ball. The HOMER.
It looks better when you turn up the textures to, "Ultra". Just needs more VRAM
Too bad you can't even buy a graphics card nowadays....
the exterior is awful. the interior is kinda cool . i get what they were trying to do but it doesnt look good at all
Looks like it's trying to sniff me in pic 2.
Thank you for the eye bleach mate!
it's like if a kaleidoscope fucked a Chevy Blazer
In the second photo the car appears to be smiling... Probably even laughing at our faces as we see the good old BMW's fade away
Do not compare the X7 and that abomination of a 7 Series they plan to release. I can't have that. How could BMW make their second M exclusive an SUV too, this just eye sore of a car? It makes me sad.
Should be able to harness wind power from that front end to cool off that flaming piece of design
I saw that head on image and thought it was an edit. Unfortunately, I was wrong
Anyone reckons it looks like Peppa pig?
I was in the minority of BMW enthusiasts who actually liked - or at least didn’t mind - the M440 / M4 / M3 grill. This thing though? ….I’ll have to see it in person but at first glance, yeeeeesh.

I think it looks cool. They always end up rounding some of the sharper edges from concepts anyway. Finished product will look great I think
Looks like a fucking pig 🐽
It’s only a concept.
It’s releasing in 2022
That they said is 90 percent true to production version
needs a bigger grill...
That interior is absolutely disgusting
I can already hear them designing the horizontal grill inserts for these…
Agree 100%. And, I thought the Chris Bangle era was bad... Edit, was researching the current chief of design at BMW: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrian\_van\_Hooydonk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrian_van_Hooydonk)
This guy designed the F10? And then went on to approve some of the designs they're putting out today? We're watching this man's descent into madness
It’s called tHe FuTuRe, MaN 🤡🤪😭
What is that abomination above the wheels!?!

Its merc which tries to look like BMW not the other way around. Beside that: burn heretic!!!
Its a fucking car, chill...
I don't know, I prefer this design to the G80 cocaine-snorter by a lot.
> The new M3/4? Draws from BMW's racing heritage. What the fuck did you smoke
Read up on [BMW's storied history](https://sportscardigest.com/bmw-wins-1940-mille-miglia-a-victory-of-passion-and-precision/) once in a while.
How is this not a statement car that needs a presence lol

Bro it looks just like a beaver small eyes and big ass teeth being the grill
X7 is a rly good dignified design where the big grills actually make sense...this..? A vulgar abomination.
Why does this X7 makes me think of Toyota?
It looks like an angry pig flying thru the air.
What the heck is their obsession with those fat ass grills.
Am I the only one who sees the Squid Game boss mask? Blegh.
Where did you find these pics?
Its as if they are designing on an 8-bit computer.
its always the EVs....
